Welcome to Baxter County ARGenWeb Project

Your Baxter County ARGenWeb Coordinator is Ruth Ann Davis.

I have been the county coordinator for Fulton County, Arkansas for many years.
I just took over the Baxter County site in May 2015.

I am busily working to get the pages updated and the links changed and tested.
If you find errors, broken links or have items to include, please let me know.

Just email me at the address below but please include Baxter County in the Subject area
so I know to post or correct this web site.

I love preserving and sharing photos of the pioneers and others who came after them.
I would like to include a photo section on this website.

Just let me know if you are interested in this addition and send me your photo files in jpeg if possible
with the names, ages, and any other information you would like to share on your ancestors.

Unfortunately, I am not able to do any research for the Baxter County area because I live in Alabama and not Arkansas.

Bureau of Land Management pre-1908 records

Compiled by Joy Fisher for Baxter County.  It includes Homestead and Cash Entry Patents.

A wonderful resource! (Download - about 300k).

All of the 244,456 Arkansas General Land Office records are also searchable, in case you don't know in which county your ancestor lived.

The search engine can also be reached at the Arkansas land web page.

Please Read!  Important information regarding lookups and queries!
It has come to the attention of USGenWeb volunteers that some people who post queries to our web sites are
being asked to pay for information.  It is NOT the policy of USGenWeb to charge for information, other than actual postage and
photocopying costs.  Please understand, if someone asks for money, it is NOT a Baxter County GenWeb/USGenWeb volunteer.

Lookup Volunteers

These people have volunteered to do lookups for Baxter County researchers. Drop them an email and see what can be arranged!

SEARCH THE BAXTER COUNTY ARGENWEB SITE

Below you may search this entire website.  I would like to suggest that you only search LAST or SURNAMES and not full names.

The reason for this is that many of the newspaper articles the editor/writer abbreviated the first names many times and if you search with a full name you will not have a productive search.  An example is the first name George would have been written Geo., so if you searched for George Burkett, the search  would miss Geo. Burkett.  Also try other ways to spell the surname you are searching.  Sometimes names were written with different spellings.
