Will of James Menees

Recorded November 8, 1837


I, James MENEES of the county of Davidson and State of Tennessee, being sound in mind do hereby publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament first,

1. I wish immediate sale made of all my property except what shall be hereafter named on a credit of twelve months.

2. I then wish the money arising from such sale with all the notes and accounts due me divided into eight equal parts and the heirs of my daughter Elender CORHOVN Dec'd., to have one eight including the notes I hold against them.

3. I give to my daughter Nancy McFARLAND one eight of the above money except three hundred dollars two which hundred I give to Elizabeth DAVIS my granddaughter the other hundred I give to James DAVIS my grandson.

4. I give to my daughter Margaret WRAY one eight of the above and wish it to be divided into four parts between herself and three children.

5. I give to the heirs of my daughter Susan STANBY one eight of the above money.

6. I give to my son John MENEES one eight of the above money.

7. I give to my daughter Mary WRAY one eight part of the above.

8. I give to the heirs of my daughter Elizabeth HORN Dec'd., one eight of the above money to be equally divided among each of the _and do hereby charge my granddaughter Mildred NI__BY of having received seventy five dollars of her part of the above eight.

I also charge Stephen HORN of receiving Ninety five dollars of the above eight.

9. I give to my daughter Jane WHITSELL one eight of the above money she being chargable with what her husband owes me in bonds and accounts.

I do hereby constitute and appoint James WHITSELL, Samuel WHITSELL, John MENEES, J.R. DABBS and James THOMAS Executors of this my last will and testament.

Given under my hand and seal this the third of September Eighteen hundred and thirty three.
