Dr. Oscar Absalom Carruth

A famous Arkansas doctor, he is a son of Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Carruth and Emma M. Harris who are buried in Adam-Singer Cemetery.

"Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Carruth lived most of his life in Bradley County, Arkansas. He had a brother named Abbie Lewis Carruth, who died in Ashley County, Arkansas. He is my great-grandfather. They also had a sister named Nancy Carruth. They were all children of William Carruth (died about 1868 in Arkansas), and Mary Ann Stovall Carruth, (died about 1878) who moved from Mississippi to Ashley County, Arkansas in the late 1850's.

I found this picture in A Centennial History of Arkansas. Its a big two volume set in the Heritage section at the library in Huntsville, Alabama. You should be able to find it in Little Rock or other places around there." ~~Ralph Carruth

"Oscar Absalom Carruth was born here in Bradley County as was his brother, Robert Hill Caruth. They grew up hearing the tales and exploits of their Uncle William Alexander Carruth, while he in the civil war." ~~Carolann St. John
