DeWitt Alan Roark


 DeWitt Alan Roark, 35, of Jonesboro, died Monday evening [April 28, 2008] 
from injuries sustained in a 2-vehicle accident south of Jonesboro. 

Born in Camden, Alan lived in Bryant before moving to Jonesboro in 2004. He 
was a pastor for nine years, serving the First Missionary Baptist Church of 
Mablevale and Calvary Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He currently worked as 
an insurance agent for AFLAC. 

Alan was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and Texas Baptist Institute 
and Seminary. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Jonesboro, was 
an avid golfer, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Alison Faith Roark. 

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Julie Merrick Roark of the home; 1 
daughter: Grace Roark of the home; 2 sons: Alex Roark, and Merrick Roark, 
both of the home; His parents: Wendell and Janice Roark of Fordyce; 1 Sister: 
Janine Eubanks of Star City; His Father-in-law and Mother-in-law: Ed and 
Geraldine Merrick of Benton, several nephews and nieces, and a host of 
family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at Emerson Memorial 
Chapel in Jonesboro. A 3:30 graveside service will be held at Pinecrest 
Cemetery on Highway 5 in Alexander, Arkansas. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home in 
Jonesboro. 

Active pallbearers include: Jason Knoernschild, Jeremy Knoernschild, Jonathan 
Jewel, Tim Brown, Darren Eubanks, Jeremy Keen, Milton Christian, and Robert
Wallace.
