Mary Esther Sled Gates Funeral Date: 3/21/2007 Obituary: Mary Esther Sled Gates age 84, of Banks, Ark. died Sunday, March 18 in her home. She was born April 22, 1922 in Bradley County Arkansas a daughter of the late John E. Sled and Margaret Davidson Sled. She was a housewife, homemaker and a member of the Springhill Freewill Baptist Church. On May 9th, 1936, she married Alva Gates and he died February 14, 2005. Also preceding her in death is a son Kenny Gates, 3 brothers Willie Sled, Wesley Sled and Noah Sled; 2 sisters Lillie Creed and Evia Rowell and 2 great-grandchildren Christopher Hoskins and Benjamin Murphy. She is survived by 3 daughters, Eva Nell Hoskins and spouse Ron and Sharon Doherty and spouse Oscar all of Banks, Ark.; Pat Harper and spouse Curtis, Star City, Ark.; a brother E.D.Sled, Fontana, Ca. 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services, 10:00am Wednesday, March 21st at Frazer’s Chapel. Burial in Sled Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, March 20th at Frazer’s.
