Martha Hannah York

Martha York Obituary 1

Mrs. Martha York,
Resident of Bradco

Mrs. Martha Hannah York, 93,
resident of Bradley County, died
Friday evening at 7:20 o'clock
at the home of her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George
Wolfe, at 902 Poplar in Pine
Bluff. She made her home
with the Wolfes for three months.

Mrs York was born March 26,
1867, at Vick, daughter of the late
John and Georgia Woodruff John-
son.

She was reared and educated
in Bradley County and married
to John York on Oct. 25, 1883,
at Ingalls. Mr. York died in 1937.

Mrs. York, who lived at In-
galls until three months ago,
was a member of Eagle lake
Missionalry Baptist Church at
Crossroads.

Survivors in addition to Mrs.
Wolfe, include one son, Downey
York of Bradley County, three
other daughters, Mrs. Ola Thom-
as of Pine Bluff and Mrs. Claudia
Vickers and Mrs. Gordie Hargis
of Warren; 16 grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; two
brothers, C. D. Johnson and Jor-
dan Johnson of Ingalls, and two
sisters, Mrs. Georgia Brown of
North Little Rock and Mrs. Della
Barfield of Oklahoma.

The body was forwarded by
Ralph Robinson and Son Mortu-
ary to Warren.

Funeral services will be held
Sunday at 2 p.m. at Uniuon Hill
Church in Bradley County.

Burial will be in the Union Hill
Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Mrs. Martha York

Succumbs at 93

Mrs. Hannah York, aged 93, of
Warren died at the home of her
daugter, Mrs. Birdie Wolfe, in
Pine Bluff Saturday. Mrs. York
was born at Vick(Bradley Coun-
ty) and lived in this area all
her life. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Claudia Vickers and
Mrs. Gordie Hargis, both of War-
ren; Mrs. Ola Thomas and Mrs.
Wolfe of Pine Bluff; a son Danny
York of Ingalls; two brothers, C.
D. Johnson and Jordan Johnson,
both of Ingalls; two sisters, Mrs.
Georgia Brown of Little Rock and
Mrs. Della Barfield of Elk City,
Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 32
great grandchildren, and two
great great grandchildren.

Funeral was at the Union Hill
Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sun-
day by Rev. Desmond Castleberry
and Rev. Hugh L. Hatton, both
of Pine Bluff. Burial was in the
Union Hill Cemetery by Frazer
Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Billy Wolfe,
Van Hargis, Paul York, Ralph
Wright, Herschel Mann, Rev.
Wayman Mann, and Hubert God-
win, all grandsons and great
grandsons of Mrs. York.

Paul David York Obituary
Paul D. York

      Paul David York, age 54,
of Hermitage died Jan. 6,
1983 at the Bradley County
Memorial Hospital. He was
born July 6, 1928 in Bradley
Co., AR the son of the late
Downey York and Mrs.
Lillie York of Ingalls.
      He was a timber buyer
and a member and Deacon
of Hermitage Baptist
Church.
      Other survivors include
his wife, Madge Huitt York
of Hermitage; one son,
David Aubrey York of Her-
mitage; one daughter, Mrs.
Chrystola Tullos of Warren;
one brother, Godfrey York
[actually name is Geoffrey.]
of Ingalls and three grand-
children.
      Funeral services were
held at 1:30 p. m. Saturday,

Jan. 8, 1983 at the Hermi-
tage Baptist Church by
Rev. Terrell Wallace and
Rev. Clifton Howie.
      Special music was pro-
vided by Nina Harrod,
Bobbie McGhee, and Phy-
llis McKinley.
      Pallbearers were Joe Don
Greenwood, Freddy Mc-
Kinley, Joe Huitt, Robert
Johnson, Freddie Harrod,
Noel Richards, Tom Dees,
and Phillip Morrow.
      Honorary pallbearers
were Randy York, Jack
Hollingsworth, Derry Lee
Johnson, J. L. Hollings-
worth, Powers Graham,
Jessie Perry, Ray Forrest,
George Belin, Clark Mo-
seley, Luther James, and
Doc Quimby.
      Burial was in Union Hill
Cemeter[y] at Ingalls, by Fra-
zer's Funeral Home.

Lillie Dale Hargis York Obituary
Mrs. Downey York   1985

      Mrs. Lillie Dale York, age 88,
of Hermitage, died Tuesday
April 30, at Wagnon Place. She
was a daughter of William Allen
and Emma McDaniel Hargis,
and was born in Bradley County,
February 24, 1897. Mrs. York
was a homemaker, a member of
Eagle lake Crossroads Baptist
Church, and the widow of John
Downey York, who died March
11, 1974
      Survivors include a son, Geof-
frey Daniel York of Hermitage,
five grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
      The funeral service was held 2

p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Union
Hill Baptist Church in Ingalls
with Rev. Buddy Burton, Rev.
Waymon Mann, and Rev. E. L.
Johnson officiating.
      Pianist was Zan Michel and
special music was presented by a
community choir under the direc-
tion of Elgin Harrod.
      Burial was in Union Hill
Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral
Home.
      Pallbearers were Don Jackson,
Larry Sharp, Charles Cauley,
Bobby Michel, Charles Roy Har-
rod, Joe Best, Glen McNeice,
and Van Temple.
      Honorary pallbearers were
Marvin Outlaw, Otis Johnson,
HoRay Jackson and Troy Jackson

Geoffrey York       96
      Geoffrey York, age 73, of Hermi-
tage, died Monday at Baptist Medi-
cal Center in Little Rock.
      Born May 7, 1923 in Ingalls, he
was a son of the late John Downey
and Lillie Dale Hargis York. He
was a retired employee of Potlatch
Corporation, a member of Eagle
Lake Crossroads Baptist Church, a
World War II Air Corps veterans,
and a member of York Deer Club.
      Survivors are his wife, Carolyn
Wooley York whom he married
December 6, 1947 in Hermitage; 2
sons, Randy York and Danny York,
both of Hermitage; 1 daughter,
Gwen Huitt of Hermitage; 5 grand-
children and 1 great grandchild.
      Funeral services were held
Wednesday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. at
Frazer's Funeral Home with
Rev. Billy Reed and Rev. Wayman
Mann officiating.
      Janice Sullivan was organist.
      Soloists were Melvin Mills, Law-
ana Mann and Wayman Mann.
      Burial and commital service was
in Union Hill Cemetery with Rev.
Eddie Douglas and Rev. Buddy
Burton officiating.
      Active pallbearers were Charlie
Rauls, Bobby Michel, Freddy Har-
rod, Dale Ledbetter, John Lansdale,
Leonard Hicks, Ben Garner and Joe
Huitt.
      Honorary pallbearers were Bruce
Nelson, Noel Richard, Van Tem-
ple, Bobby Lloyd, Forest Rice, Jim-
mie Judkins, Gary Best, Gary
Church, Kerry Baker, George Bak-
er, Joe Best and other hunting
friends.
      Memorials may be made to Un-
ion Hill Cemetery Fence Fund or
Eagle Lake Crossroads Baptist
Church.
