Obituaries


Ellis Thomas Clanton

          Ellis Thomas Clanton, age 61, husband of Mrs. Robbie Williams Clanton of Warren, died Friday, March 28, in the tornado.
          He was born May 10, 1913, at Vick, a son of the late grover Cleveland and Frances Maud Holcombe Clanton.
          He was an assistant supervisor with the Bradley Division of the Potlatch Corporation, a member, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the Central Baptist Church in Warren, and a Mason, Warren Lodge No. 33.
          Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Lathan of Warren; 3 brothers, Tyson Clanton of Blytheville, Dan Clanton of Houston, Tex., and Morrell Clanton of Warren; 1 sister, Mrs. Martha Jones of Camden; and one grandson, Carroll Wayne Lathan.
          Funeral was 2:00 p. m., Tuesday, April 1, at Frazer's Chapel of the Chimes with Rev. Jerry Carter and Rev. Gladney Phillips officiating.
          Organist was Mrs. Janice Sullivan.
          Soloist was Bill Brown.
          Active pallbearers were Bobby Russell, Gerald Clanton, Billy Mack White, Charles White, Jimmy Wayne Lyon, Ronald Lyon, Stacy Clanton, and Raymer Clanton.
          Honorary pallbearers were Orris Campbell, Lewis Brown, Charles Greenwood, John Carter, Ray Doss, Charles Simpson, Charles Doss, N. I. Smith, Roy Sheridan, Jimmy Poole, Royce Poole, Bernie C. Halley, Grice McClellan, and Roy Cochran.


Mrs. Dorothy Faye McKinstry

          Mrs. Dorothy Faye McKinstry, age 41, wife of John L. McKinstry, of Wilmar, died Friday, March 28 in the tornado.
          She was born March 14, 1934, at Gibson, La., a daughter of Henry Milburn of Warren and Mrs. Clara Swain Kinard of Pansy.
          She was an employee at Jack Winter and a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.
          Other survivors include: 2 sons, Charles L. McKinstry of Wilmar and Richard McKinstry of Pine Bluff; 5 daughters, Mrs. Shirley Hood of Monticello, Eva Denise, Deborah K., Patricia Faye, and Elizabeth Ann McKinstry all of Wilmar; 4 brothers, Edwin Milburn of Warren, Hershell Milburn of Haywood, Calif., Orville Lee Milburn of Pansy and her twin, Ray Milburn of Redfield; 1 sister, Mrs. Ann Gavin of Pansy; and 3 grandchildren.
          Funeral was 4:30 P.M., Tuesday, April 1, at the Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Maurice Hargis officiating.
          Burial was in O'Neill Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.
          Pallbearers were Bobby Ralph Gavin, Ed Carr, Roger Echols, Gary Aaron, Daniel Rauls, and Jerry Strickland.


John Albert Frey

          John Albert Frey, age 75, husband of the late Nina Mae Culp Frey, (dec. Oct. 25, 1968), of Warren, died Friday, March 28, in the tornado.
          He was born August 16, 1899, at New Edinburg, a son of the late John William and Epsie Jane Moseley Frey.
          He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Warren.
          Survivors include 1 daughter, Mrs. Fred W. Raburn of Berryville, Virginia; three brothers, Mason Frey and Grady Frey, both of Benton, and Robert Frey of New Edinburg; 3 sisters, Mrs. Alma Childress and Mrs. Troy Atkins, both of New Edinburg, and Mrs. Carl Ragon of Odessa, Texas; 1 grandson.
          Funeral was 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 31, at Frazer's Chapel of the Chimes with Rev. Paul Huskey and Rev. Jimmy Howard.
          Organist was Mrs. Janice Sullivan.
          Burial was in Freehouse Cemetery at New Edinburg, by Frazer's Funeral Home.
          Pallbearers were W. J. Morgan, John Luther Hartsell, Jack Childress, John Polk Frey, Benny Estes, Jerry thompson, Larry Morgan, and Watson Brown.


Danny Richard Boyd

          Danny Richard Boyd, 22, husband of Barbara Ross Boyd, died Friday, March 28, in the tornado.
          He was born January 10, 1953, in Warren, a son of Vernice Mack and Martha Sue Robertson Boyd of Warren.
          He was a student at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and a member of the First Baptist Church of Warren.
          Other survivors include one brother: Randy Boyd of Jonesboro.
          Funeral was 4:30 P.M., Monday, March 31, at the First Baptist Church in Warren with Rev. James Walker and Rev. Forrest Bynum officiating.
          Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.
          Active pallbearers were: Louis Gene Tate, Joe Haynes, Herman Groves, Gary Grider, Jackie Williams, Kenneth McDougald and Jimmy Adams.
          Honorary pallbearers were Harry Ashcraft, Gerald Burton, Bill Hargis, Robert Ed Green, Dr. Merl Crow, Leroy Thornton, Dr. Stacey Toole, and Dr. James Marsh.


Mrs. Vertie Lou Stoddard

          Mrs. Vertie Lou Stoddard, 73, of Warren, died Friday, March 28, in the tornado.
          She was born August 17, 1901, at Banks, a daughter of the late Jerome "Doc" and Lou Anna Murry McFarland.
          She was a retired bookkeeper for Ark. State Hospital where she worked for 48 years, and a member of the Banks Presbyterian Church.
          Survivors include 1 brother, Auburn J. McFarland, Sr., of Banks; 1 sister, Mrs. Beadie Stell of Warren; 21 nieces and nephews.
          Funeral was 10:;; A. M., Monday, March 31, at the Banks Presbyterian Church with Rev. Vernie Bartlett officiating.
          Organist was Mrs. Margie Bartlett.
          Burial was in McFarland Cemetery at Banks by Frazer's Funeral Home.


Miss Marilyn Jeanette Robertson

          Miss Marilyn Jeanette Robertson, age 39, of Warren, died March 28 in the tornado.
          She was born August 29, 1935, at Marsden, a daughter of the late Lonnie Albert and Evie Gorman Robertson.
          Survivors include 2 sisters, Mrs. Martha Sue Boyd of Warren, and Mrs. Myrtle Lee Gates of Calif.; 1 niece, 2 nephews, and 4 great-nieces and nephews.
          Funeral was 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 1, at Frazer's Chapel of the Chimes with Rev. James Walker and Rev. Vernie Bartlett officiating.
          Organist was Mrs. Janice Sullivan.
          Burial was in Marsden Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.
          Active pallbearers were V. P. Gorman, Jr., James Ray Gorman, Gorman Grider, and Kenneth Grider.
          Honorary pallbearers were Howard Jones, Joe Haynes, Joe Hairston, Randy Boyd, and Dr. Merl Crow.
