HIRAM H. JONES
Hiram H. JONES age 74 years 3 months and 15 days, (Born Jan 24,
1842)departed this life on October 19, 1916. He was born in Tennessee
(Rhea Co)but moved to Arkansas with his parents (John and Annis HENRY
JONES) when a small boy. His father died shortly after reaching here
and left him with his mother, four brothers (Isaac N, William R, John
R, Joseph)and one sister (Anjalina Elizabeth). He lived with (in
Urbanette Arkansas) and was the comfort to his mother until 1859 (Sept
9th)when he was married to Mary E. HALE (daughter of Jeremiah and
Cynthia SKATES HALE) To this union were born ten children and he saw
all of them grow to manhood and womanhood and married but one son
(Isaac N 1863-1870). One daughter went a shortime before his departure
(Cynthia Ann FILBECK). He leaves his beloved wife, four daughters (Mary
Angeline FILBECK, Martha Annis AMBROSE, Sarah Jane Tennessee HUMBARD,
Gertrude Lucinda LAYMAN)and three sons (William Martin, John R, Jerry
Washington) (Another son named Isaac also died in 1913) to mourn their
great loss but we feel our loss is his eternal gain.
He was a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church and was
seldom absent from the services when able to be there. A faithful
companion, a loving father and a generous neighbor. Always ready to
lend a helping hand in time of trouble. But farewell dear one; God has
called you and your troubles are over. We all hope to meet you in the
resurrection morning.
When the last trump shall sound
and the dead in Christ shall rise,
We all hope to meet you,
With the angels in the skies
A Son.
