Subject: Hutchison Family Name
Date: Tue, 23 Dec 1997 13:14:35 -0600
From: Pamela Hutchison
E-mail address: hutch22@gte.net

Query: I am doing genealogy on the Hutchison name and I've gotton back to the 1850 census to Elizabeth Hutchison and her 6 sons in Clark County Arkansas. This is where my trail is stuck because evidently her husband died sometime between 1840 and 1850. I believe this because they had 2 children in 1841 and 1843. These last two children are listed as born in Tenn. so I'm assuming they moved to Arkansas after 1843 and the dad must have died either before they moved to Arkansas or after I guess. I have no idea what his name was. In 1860 they were in Texas so they were in Arkansas for a brief time. Does anyone have any information on Hutchisons included in your records for that time period? I noticed in my research that the spelling of my name varies year to year. The family is fortunate enough to have very unusual first names so we're not hard to spot. For instance, one of Elizabeths sons is named Obediah Houston Hutchison. How many of those have there been in the world. Anyone who can help at all would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know if there are land records or church records from the 1840-50 era? Most people didn't go
around renting back then so I'm assuming they owned the land they lived on. I'm stuck like chuck in my research and have need of an ear in Clark County. Everyone have a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!! Pamela Hutchison

From: JIngram741@aol.com

Query: I am searching for informaion on my grt grandparent with nothing more than a name to go on. My grandrather Andrew Jackosn Ingram was born in Bradley County at Warren Ark. in April 27 1894. There were 2 brothers Chesley and Henry. Henry was born in 1895 but I have no records on Chesley. Great grandmother remarried to a May after Mr. Ingram's death. There were 3 children by the name of May, Bertie b-1900, Ivan b-1913 and Joyce not sure of b-date so she remarried between 1895 and 1900. These birth dates and death records are in Cleveland Cty. I know the county boundries changed several times in the later 1800s so records for Andrews parents could be in several places. Anyone researching any of these names that has run across any of these names or events I could use the help. jingram741@aol.com

Query: My gr-grandfather, Adolphus ANDERSON was born 30 May 1833 in Laurens Co. SC. He shows up in census records for Hempstead Co. after 1860 - and he married Martha Adelia COULTER 25 March 1861. Land records show an Adolphus A. ANDERSON of Clark Co., AR deeded land through the office of Land Management Washington, AR in 1890 - there is also record of land office for Adolphus ANDERSON deeding land 80 acres in Camden AR to Adolphus ANDERSON 1875. I cannot find the grave of my gr-grandfather Adolphus, who died April 1893 - Hempstead Co. Two questions are Adolphus A. ANDERSON and Adolphus ANDERSON the same person? Camden and Hope are not too distant and it would seem unlikely that there would be two Adolphus's the same time frame in the same area? Can anyone relate to the above information? Query: I have a homepage with files concerning my Clark County lines. Would you link to it from the Clark County page? I am also currently working on converting to HTML to post to my webpage a book I published called, "Arkadelphia and Environs, Clark County, Arkansas, a Journal by James A. Fortson, recorded 1875-1898." He recorded births, marriages, deaths and assorted other facts about people of the area. He lived in the vicinity of Palestine and Okolona. It doesn't have everyone from the Arkadelphia area mentioned but, if your ancestor is in the book, it could be valuable information.

In the meantime (before I actually get it out there), I am willing to do lookups. Hopefully, I will be able to get it on the page within the next few weeks. my webpage URL is: http://www.vpdallas.com/homepages/lrogers thanks, Linda Shaddock Rogers

Query: I am trying to trace my family genealogy. I know that my grandfather father brought his family to Clark County . Clem and Mary brought all 7 of there children. In the 1920 Census my grandfather was 14 or 15. In 1928 Harvey married Ruby Hall. Both family lived in Missouri Township in 1920- August 24th 1928. That was when Harvey and Ruby got married. The reason I contacted you I was wondering if you might have access to the 1930 Clark County Census. I am trying to find out if both family left before 1930 or if they were still in Clark County. I know Harvey and Ruby was in Bowie County from 1935- 1950 because they had four children there. I am trying to find Clem's parent names and siblings if there were any. I have no idea where to start all I know is the 1920 census said they were born in Arkansas. Should I ask everybody that is over Arkansas county if they might could search the 1890 census for Clem and his parents. Clem was born in 1882. That is all I have to go on. MS) who died in Feb 1860 aged 12 of typhoid fever in the 1860 Clark Co. census MORTALITY schedule. This would appear to be Pleasant's son, EXCEPT -- on 11 Oct 1866 a J. J. ORSBURN aged 20 years, married MAY E. CARPENTER in Clark Co. SO -- 1) who is the JABEZ ORSBURN who died in Feb 1860 in Clark Co? And 2) who is the J. J. ORSBURN who got married in 1866? Query: Cornelius, Keith, Crow, Gentry families, and probably others arrived in Okalona area of Clark County, AR in late 1880s. Believe Cornelius family from southern Missouri, or possibly southern Illinois. Could have stopped in Mississippi before coming up Arkansas River, crossing from near Little Rock by land to Clark Co. Along way, my 4th gr gf died. Believe wife's first name was Mary. Several have been searching for years to find his name. His know sons were Reuben Ragland(my 3rd gr gf), William, and Jeptha. Was a Henry(b-1800) along but cannot prove was son. Have Reuben Ragland's most of his 400 plus descendants, some of Jeptha's. Still searching for name of his father. hughhyman@aol.com (Lived next to Henderson in 1940s)
