A Pioneer Family of Corning, around 1901

"The W. F. Barnes family.  Barnes was one of Corning's earliest businessmen and his frame store on Second Street was replaced in 1907 by the concrete building that now houses Tezzie Smith Mercantile.

"Daughter Opal, left, married Milo Black, a local young man, and Verna, right, married John Jordan, a classmate who graduated with her from the Corning Eighth grade in 1902.  The son, Guy Barnes, graduated from Corning High School in 1914."
