A High Water Sunday, Corning

"High Water Sunday was an annual event on the local calendar, usually following Easter.  The entertainment was provided by Old Man Black River who had two choice observation stands for admiring his swirling flood waters -- Along the right of way of the Ferguson and Wheeler Tram or along the Iron Mountain South to the curve, Corning Lake Trestle.

"To get to this point these folks had walked half a mile of trestle from the Ferguson and Wheeler Mill.  In the background is the old wagon bridge, now a park on Highway 62 at the Crawdad Hole.

"Old timers in the picture are Tim Curry and Ed Hall, seated at left.  Standing Charles R. Black, Sr., and the lady on the right in her new Easter bonnet is Mrs. L. D. Oaks."
