"The John E. Long house, corner of Chestnut and West Fourth, was one of the showplaces of Corning in the early 20th Century.  Built at the peak of the Victorian Era, it featured gingerbread trimming on the two-story porch on the East, a similar porch on the one-story kitchen wing.  The main building featured three chimneys.  John arrived in Corning in 1885."
