Sherman Talkington Family

From the Clay County Courier:

"A Pioneer Family of 1903...

"The photographer, L. D. Oaks, drove out from Corning to make this portrait of the Sherman Talkington family.  He used the home as the background and out in front of the house on the main road he posed the family, their livestock and oldest son, Clarence, with his proudest possession, a new bicycle.  The site was the old Simpson farm by Williams Cemetery and the old house still stands.

"From left to right, the family circle is identified as, Sherman, Bob, Hercel, Cecile, Josephine, Fannie and Clarence.  Even the family dog and her puppy and the mare made the scene.

"After several years of tendant farming, Talkington had accummulated sufficient funds for buying the Talkington farm located on the Old Moark Road, East of Bluf [sic] school house and the site is established historically as The Talkington Place regardless of ownership."
