View from the Courthouse Tower

"The above is a reproduction of an old L. D. Oaks picture made from the tower of the Courthouse for a birds-eye [sic] view of Corning.  Only a camera can record so detailed a bit of history...  the Sheeks-Stephens Store that held down the northeast corner of the square;  the E. V. Sheeks and George W. Stephens homes with the law office of E. Foster Brown converted into a residence after he had moved away, in between, on West Third the steeple of the First Baptist Church and beyond it the white frame of Methodist Church.  Far up Second Street a reading glass catches the steeple of First Christian Church."
