Welch Bakery and Confectionary, 1904

"The location of the Welch Bakery was on West First in the row of one-story frame buildings that stretched from Vine to Pine.  The whole town expected the row to go up in flames some windy night but somehow that part of the business section escaped the fiery doom and the row finally succumbed to old age and progress.

"Molly Welch has shown her artistic ability by converting the electric one-light ceiling drop into a decorative chandelier by the use of colored crepe paper.

"The customer in the center is Sam Hall, who operated Hall Brothers Barber Shop next door.

"The Welch Bakery moved to the Moore concrete block on Second Street in 1906.  The Moore opera house upstairs has been converted into a rooming house but old-timers can still recall the thrill of the curtain rolling up on a melodrama."
