MOORES CHURCH CEMETERY

DIRECTIONS: Hwy. 79 and 35 intersection, Hwy 35 N. ¾ miles right onto Moores Church Road, two miles on left. Section 33, Township 8, Range 11.

HISTORY: The United Methodist Moores Church was directly across the road from the cemetery. The church consolidated with the Rison Methodist Church. According to Mrs. Mildred Harvey the church was gone when she got married 66 years ago. Jones Peters helped build the church. Across the road from the cemetery between two houses that were there was the grave of a white man and a black man. The black man’s last name was Johnson. There used to be markers, but someone removed them.
