(For 1790 - 1830 Census search Clark County.) In 1819 most of this area was in Clark County.

(For 1840 Census search Union County.) In 1836, by the time Arkansas became a State, this area was called Union County.

(For 1850 - 1870 Census search Bradley County.) On December 18, 1840, Bradley County was created and part of this area was in this County.

(For 1880 Census search Dorsey County.) In 1873 Cleveland County was created but first called Dorsey County....in honor of Stephen Dorsey, a U.S. Senator from AR.

(For 1890 - 1930 Census search Cleveland County.) In 1885, Dorsey County was renamed to Cleveland County...in honor of President Grover Cleveland.
