Omizel Harper

LEOLA -- Omizel V. Harper, 93, of Leola, died Monday at Hot Spring County Medical Center.

She was born March 7, 1912, at Tulip, a daughter of the late William Sloan and Mary Bertha Smith Sloan.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Toones Chapel AME Church at Tulip, where she was the missionary secretary and served as Sunday school teacher, trustee and steward.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Forney Harper.

Survivors include one brother, Jessie Sloan Sr. of San Pablo, Calif.; one stepbrother, Edward Walker of Leola; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Toones Chapel AME Church with the Rev. James Highsmith officiating. Burial will be in Toones Chapel Cemetery by Brown-Williams Funeral Home at Fordyce.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of George and Linda Smith.
