Mrs. Vera Thorn

Mrs. Vera Thorn, age 86, of Malvern, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, in the HSC Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 23, 1919, in Tulip, Ark. to the late Allie Collins and Edna Lock Collins.

She was a homemaker and a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Senior Mass Choir, Missionary Society and Willing Workers Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dallas Thorn; two sons; two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by three sons, James (Mary) Thorn of Milwaukee, Wis., Charles (Sylvia) Thorn of Fort Worth, Texas and Dexter Thorn of Malvern, Ark.; two daughters, Alverna (Rufus) Lane of Milwaukee, Wis. and Brenda Anderson of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Allie Collins of Princeton, Ark.; one sister, Bessie Brown of Hot Springs, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Rev. J.O.T. Lea pastor, Dr. J.N. McCollum will officiate.

Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, April 20 from 4 until 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Johnson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
