Alvin H. Fite

ARKADELPHIA - Alvin Herbert Fite, age 75, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at his home. He was born on April 3, 1932, in Arkadelphia, the son of the late Felix and Augusta Thompson Fite. Alvin was a building contractor and a member of Second Baptist Church in Alpine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Mauldin Fite and four brothers, Clarence, Willis, Darrell and Roy Fite.

Alvin is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Fite of Arkadelphia, two sons, Dwayne Fite of Joan and James Fite of Boliver, Mo., three brothers, Marvin Fite of Joan, Ronnie Fite of Prattsville and Buddy Fite of Saltillo, Texas; five sisters Marcella Ross of Arkadelphia, Marie Lafayette of Malvern, Hazel Holt of Joan, Frances Drake of Metairie, La., and Martha Helvering of Benton, and special friend and companion, Zelda Bradford of Joan, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Rogers and Bro. Ronnie Hardin officiating. Interment will be in Round Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt McClenahan, Curtis McDermott, Frank Ross, James Christie, Willie Holt and Joe Braswell.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Welch Funeral Home.
