Grace Jordan of Little Rock passed away
on January 14, 2008 at the age of 100 years. She was
born on April 22, 1907 in Prescott, AR to Lydia and
Anderson Vick, the youngest of six children. Upon Graduation
from Prescott High School, Grace moved to Fordyce, AR
where she lived in the home of an older sister. She met
and married Warren R. Jordan of Fordyce in 1928. Mr.
Jordan became active in oil well drilling, and they moved
to Freer, Texas in 1932 which at that time was the busiest
oil field in the country. They both were early members
and very active in the Freer Methodist Church. Mr.
Jordan went into partnership with a neighbor and formed
their own drilling company. They moved back to Fordyce
in 1968, and participated in many activities of the First
United Methodist Church there. Having no children of
their own, Grace and Warren doted on their numerous nieces
and nephews, and were like second parents to them. Widowed
in 1993, Grace continued to live in Fordyce before joining
her sister, Clio Clary of Stuttgart in 2002 to share
an apartment in the Good Shepherd Retirement Center in
Little Rock. These two of the most elderly residents
of their building were known as “TheSisters” and
were very outgoing and friendly with all the residents.
Grace is survived by her sister, Clio. Funeral services
will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday January 17, 2008 at the Fordyce
First United Methodist Church with Rev. Hammett Evans
officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may
be made to the Fordyce First United Methodist Church.
