Lou Byrd, 72, of Fordyce died Wednesday
January 23, 2008 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Born September 27, 1935 in Louisiana, she was a daughter
of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Thames Bettevey. She
was preceded in death by her husband, James Dewitt Byrd;
her longtime companion, Leo Kennedy; a son, Ivy Byrd;
two brothers, Kirby Graham, Joseph Laborde; three sisters,
Edna Gauthier, Dora Arno, Helen Morris; grandchild, James
Anthony Byrd; great-grandchild, Jason Edward Byrd. Survivors
are her children, James Byrd and Polly of Warner, OK,
Harold Byrd and Lore of Marianna, Brenda Smith and Jerry
of Fordyce, Joe and Debbie Byrd of Opelousas, LA, William
and Lisa Byrd of Fordyce; a sister, Mary Gauthier of
Marksville, LA; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-five
great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends
Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Benton
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stacy Reed officiating.
