The Fountain Family

The Fountain Family was originally from Mississippi, they first settled in Ouchita & Yell Counties, before coming to Dallas County around 1912. Some of the members of this family are buried in Bethel Cemetery, Carthage, Arkansas.

First Generation

1. Lucinda KENDRICK. Lucinda was born in Mississippi in 1861.

In 1876 Lucinda married David FOUNTAIN. David died in 1910 in Arkansas.

They had the following children:

4 iii. Hugh Eldridge (1899-1994)
5 iv. Cathey (1901-)
6 v. Edward
7 vi. Jude or Juda

Lucinda later married a Mr. HOLMES, in Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas.

Family of Lucinda KENDRICK (1) & David FOUNTAIN

2. Daisy FOUNTAIN (Lucinda KENDRICK¹).Daisy was born in Mississippi in 1885. Daisy died on 14 Dec 1966. Daisy was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas.

Daisy married Burrel PARHAM, son of George Perkins PARHAM (1836-) & Rose P. PARHAM (1841-). Burrel was born in Arkansas in Nov 1873 (The 1910 US Census has 1877). Burrel died in 1933. Burrel was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas.

They had one child:

8 i. Cassie (Extended Family Member) (1890-)

3. Roy M. FOUNTAIN (Lucinda KENDRICK¹). Roy M. was born in Arkansas in 1899.

4. Hugh Eldridge FOUNTAIN Sr. (Lucinda KENDRICK¹). Hugh was born in Arkansas on 27 Feb 1899. Hugh died on 6 Jan 1994; he was 94. Hugh was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas.

5. Cathey FOUNTAIN (Lucinda KENDRICK1). Cathey was born in Arkansas in 1901.

On 28 Dec 1922 Cathey married Mary HAWKINS, daughter of James HAWKINS (Jun 1869/1871-) & Mary A. SMITH (1875-bef 1930), in Dallas County, Arkansas.(N –454). Mary was born in Arkansas in 1904. Mary died before Apr 1930.

They had the following children:

9. Sallie G. FOUNTAIN (Cathey², Lucinda KENDRICK¹). Sallie was born in Arkansas in 1926.

10. Cassie M. FOUNTAIN (Cathey², Lucinda KENDRICK¹). Cassie was born in Arkansas in 1927.

Family of Jude or Juda FOUNTAIN (7)

11. Jewell FOUNTAIN (Jude or Juda², Lucinda KENDRICK¹). Jewell was born in 1894.

On 3 Dec 1917 Jewell married Opal SURRATT, in Dallas County, Arkansas. (M-32). Opal was born on 4 Oct 1895.Opal died on 20 Feb 1950; he was 54. Opal was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas.
