The Gill Family
The GILL family was originally from Georgia.
They arrived first to Bradley County, Arkansas in the early
1880's and then settled in Dallas County by the 1900's. Most
settled in and around Liberty Township, Dallas County and
were buried in Liberty Cemetery, near Fordyce, Arkansas.
The descendants of Henry Gill extends for over five generations
in Dallas County, I have only included the first three generations
here.

in Georgia in 1811.
Henry married Martha RESPESS. Martha was born in Georgia
in 1820.
They had the following children:

2. George Albert GILL (Henry Albert1). George
was born in Arkansas on 5 Sep 1861. George died on 20
Mar 1910; he was 48. George was buried in Liberty Cemetery,
Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.
In Nov 1881 George married Martha Ann Jane COCHRAN,
daughter of William L. COCHRAN & Delilah F. SIMPSON (12
Mar 1841-3 June 1891), in Bradley County, Arkansas. Martha
was born in Arkansas on 9 August 1863. Martha died on 14
Nov 1914; she was 51. Martha was buried in Liberty Cemetery,
Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.

On 13 August 1882 James married Mary E. SCARBOROUGH,
daughter of Joseph B. SCARBOROUGH (8 Mar 1833-25 Oct 1889) & Mary
UNKNOWN, in Bradley County, Arkansas. Mary was born in Arkansas
in Sep 1862. Mary died in 1928. Mary was buried in Liberty
Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.

Family of George Albert GILL (2) & Martha Ann Jane COCHRAN
4. Dotia Fair GILL (George Albert2, Henry
Albert1). Dotia was born in Dallas County, Arkansas, on 3 June
1883. Dotia died in New
Orleans, New Orleans Parish, Louisiana, on 12 Oct 1947; she
was 64. Dotia was buried in Bucksnort Cemetery, Fordyce,
Dallas County, Arkansas.
On 24 Dec 1903 when Dotia was 20, she married Henry Bailor
GREEN, son of Jonathan Baler “John” GREEN (8 DEC
1860/1861-18 Dec 1926) & Florence R. Della GRESHAM (27
Nov 1863-27 Oct 1933), in Dallas County, Arkansas. Henry
was born in Dallas County, Arkansas, on 14 June 1883.
Henry died in Concordia Parish, Louisiana, on 29 May
1952; he was 68. Henry was buried in Bucksnort Cemetery,
Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.

6. William “Lee” GILL (George
Albert2, Henry Albert1). Lee was born in Arkansas
on 22 February 1887. Lee died on 10 Mar 1940;
he was 53. Lee was
buried in Liberty Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.
On 8 Sep 1907 when Lee was 20, he married
Winnie WOOD, daughter of James Lewis WOOD (13 May 1867-25
Jan 1952) & Martha Bledsoe GREEN (2 June 1868-18 February
1948), in Dallas County, Arkansas. Winnie was born in Arkansas
on 3 Apr 1888. Winnie died on 22 May 1966; she was 78. Winnie
was buried in Liberty Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.

on 3 Jan 1979; she was 88. Ethel was buried in Liberty Cemetery,
Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.
On 24 Dec 1910 when Ethel was 20, she married Martin Lewis
MEECE, in Dallas County, Arkansas. Martin was
born on 26 Jan 1876. Martin died on 18 Mar 1929; he was
53. Martin was buried in Liberty Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas
County, Arkansas.

11. Perline “Pearl” GILL (George
Albert2, Henry Albert1). Pearl was born in Arkansas
in Oct 1895.
12. Bertha GILL (George Albert2, Henry Albert1). Bertha was
born in Arkansas in Dec 1897.
On 5 August 1917 Bertha married J. E. HEARNE, in Dallas County,
Arkansas. J. E. was born in 1893.
13. Meece D. GILL (George Albert2, Henry
Albert1). Meece was born in Arkansas on 4 Sep 1899. Meece
died on 30 Jan 1990; she was 90. Meece was buried in McDonald
Cemetery, Dallas County, Arkansas.
Meece married Roland D. WILLIAMS. Roland was born in
Arkansas on 1 May 1898. Roland died on 8 Apr 1993; he was
94. Roland was buried in McDonald Cemetery, Dallas County,
Arkansas.
14. Edgar H. GILL (George Albert2, Henry
Albert1). Edgar was born in Arkansas on 24 August 1901. Edgar
died on 5 Oct 1990; he was 89. Edgar was buried in Stoney
Point Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.
On 29 Oct 1922 when Edgar was 21, he married Versa W. WOOD,
in Dallas County, Arkansas. Versa was born on 23
May 1904. Versa died on 31 August 1982; she was 78. Versa
was buried in Stoney Point Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas County,
Arkansas.

17. Oliver J. GILL (James Madison2, Henry
Albert1). Oliver was born in Arkansas on 25 Feb 1887.
Oliver died on 17 August 1912; he was 25. Oliver was buried

On 26 Dec 1907 when Oliver was 20, he married Emily Eula “Peg” WOOD,
daughter of James Lewis WOOD (13 May 1867-25 Jan 1952) & Martha
Bledsoe GREEN (2 June 1868-18 February 1948), in Dallas County,
Arkansas. Peg was born in Dallas County,
Arkansas, on 16 Nov 1890. Peg died
in Houston, Harris County, Texas, on 28 June 1967; she was
76. Peg was buried in Liberty Cemetery,
Fordyce, Dallas County, Arkansas.
