Mrs. Ortha Deller Walker
Mrs. Ortha Deller Walker, age 85, of Malvern died Saturday, May 12, 2007, in National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Ark. Mrs. Walker was born on Jan. 18, 1922, in Tulip, Ark., to the late parentage of Willie B. and Mattie Baugh Smith. She was a former employee at West Bend Company, a member of Toones Chapel AME Church, where she served on the Steward Board, Trustee Board, Sunday School teacher, Finance Committee, Food Committee, Missionary Society, Pastor’s Aide and announcing Clerk. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her husband, Edward Walker of Leola, Ark.; one son, Denorris Walker of Leola, Ark.; four daughters, Carolene (Santiago) Martinez of Leola, Ark., Janet Robinson of Little Rock, Ark., Laugretta (Duane) Williams of Malvern, Ark. and Deborah (George) Hawkins of Leola, Ark.; two sisters, Lacerine Bell of Malvern, Ark., and Bernice Lambert of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2007, at 1 p.m. in Toones Chapel AME Church, Tulip, Ark., with Rev. James Highsmith officiating.Burial will be in Toones Chapel Cemetery.Viewing for family and friends will be Friday, May 18 in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Johnson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.The family will be at the home of Laugretta and Duane Williams.
