Dorothy Brown age 69 of Malvern died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in the Malvern Nursing Home. She was born on September 8, 1939 to the late Gallie and Earnestine Cook Murdock in Sparkman, Arkansas. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother William Thomas “Sonny” Matlock.
Survivors to cherish her memory, her brothers Bennie (Freddie) Matlock, Charles (Etha) Matlock all of Rockford, IL, Dennis (Lynette) Matlock and James (Tanya) Matlock all of Sparkman, AR, Louis Murdock of California, Curtis (Birda) Murdock, David (Carol) Murdock and Joe Murdock all of Malvern.
Her sisters Carolyn Sue (Ruby) Dibbon of Sparkman, AR, Mae Sue Johnson of Arkadelphia, AR, Lillie (Johnnie) Penix, Ruthie (Terry) Griffin and Linda Matlock all of Rockford, IL, and Marie Cannon of Malvern, AR.
Other relatives: Margaret (Percy) Sanders, Betty (Roy) McCray and Willie (Joyce) Matlock all of Malvern, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday June 8, 2009 at 12 noon at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Rev. J.O.T. Lea, Pastor. Rev. John Hill, eulogist.
Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sparkman Arkansas.
Viewing and visitation will be Sunday June 7, 2009 from 6 - 7 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will be at 501 Reyburn Road in Malvern.
Johnson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
