Javine Dawn Butler, 68, of Sparkman, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in St, Joseph’s Mercy Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born August 26, 1940, in Bearden, daughter of Jerry Key and Calrie Craig Dawn.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, announcement clerk and choir member. She was a graduate of Bearden High School. She retired from the Arkadelphia Human Development Center after 23 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and six brothers, R. H. Dawn, Jerry Dawn, Jr., Samuel Dawn, Joseph Dawn, Gertman Dawn and Brooker Dawn.

 She is survived by her husband, Columbus Butler; two sons, Jimmy Butler of Dallas, Texas, Ray Butler of Milwaukee, Wis.; three daughters, Dawn Joyce Brody of Desoto, Texas, Karen Hatcherson of Birmingham, Ala., and Betty Butler of Milwaukee; four brothers, the Rev. Frank Dawn of Bearden, Carlton Dawn of Fordyce, Lee Dawn and James T. Dawn of Kansas City, Mo.; six sisters, Maydell Parham and O’Dell Moore of Kansas City, Kan., Betty Burnette, Priscilla Ricks and Ruthie Patton of Dallas and Lettie Stephens of Camden; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23 in Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. J. L. Newborn officiating. Burial in Butler Community Cemetery by Williams Funeral Home, Inc. Pallbearers will be Landrick Brody, Steven Brody Jr., Jimmy Butler Jr., Lee Dawn Jr., Jeffery Butler, Horace Carter, David Whitaker and Freddie Carter
