Norma Dene Hornaday Durmon, 89 of Gunnison, Colorado, formerly of
Fordyce, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009. She was born June 21, 1920
in Fordyce to the late Walter Rhodes and Rosa Kauffman Rhodes. She
worked nearly all her years at Holt’s Builders Supply in Fordyce and
was a graduate of Fordyce High School. She was preceded in death by her
husbands, John Thomas Durmon of Warren, Arkansas and Doc Hornaday; her
son, Joe Dwain Durmon of Fordyce, who flew F-14s for the United States
Navy and passed away due to an ejection seat accident, two sisters,
Maynie Rhodes Vaughn of Fordyce and Freda Rhodes Stone both of Pine
Bluff, and two brothers, Neal Rhodes of Shreveport and Buford Rhodes of
Fordyce. She is survived by her son, Buford Thomas Durmon of Lake City,
Colorado; three grandchildren, David Brook Durman of Dallas, Texas;
Kristen Leigh Durmon Weir and Keri Lyn Durmon Barlow, both of Van
Buren, Arkansas; and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive
friends Monday from 9 AM until 10:30 AM at Benton Funeral Home in
Fordyce. Graveside services will follow at 11 AM at Oakland Cemetery.
