Sarah & Ed Preston Mason
This is another double headstone that is very difficult to read. These are Mason children. I can make out �Children of ?. C. and (?). E. Mason. The children are Sarah Catherine who died July 9(?), 1882. I cannot make out her birth date. Next to Sarah is her brother, Ed Preston, b. July 15, 1877, and died September 10, 1882 at 15 years of age. Perhaps the young Mason�s perished in some epidemic of disease. In the membership roster of the Old Florence Church, there is a Newton C. Mason and an R. E. Mason. Sarah C. is listed in the membership roster, but her brother is not. Look closely and notice the top of the stone that depicts a kitten on a tree branch.
