I am looking for information on three families, two of which I know were in Drew County in 1850 and believe the third was there sometime around that period. John Alfred Owens was in Drew County, Smith Township when the 1850 census was taken. William Kennerly and his wife, Francis, were living a few households from them. Part of John Alfred's children were in Yell County, Arkansas by 1870, as was William and Francis Kennerly. There was a Mahala Clark living in the household with William and Francis Kennerly in the 1870 Yell County census and I feel that she also came from Drew County. I believe John Alfred's son, John Emory, married Melissa Sanders of Drew County about 1860, then served in the Civil War. They had a daughter about 1867 or 68. I don't know if Melissa died or what but John Emory married Mahala Clark in Yell County in 1870. I would deeply appreciate any information you have on any of these families. Thank you.

My grandmother, Margaret Frances Morris was in the 1860 Drew Co., AR census as a two year old in the HH of her parents, Benjamin E. Morris and Annie McCrary Morris. Family tradition has it that she married before she married my grandfather, Wm. T. Harwell in Pike Co. AR in 1879. Many years ago, my aunt, told me her mother was married to a Bussey/Bussell/etc before my grandfather but another aunt said later that she was married to an Owens and even said her mother added Owens to her name as a tribute to her first husband. For curiousity I've been trying to solve this mystery. I found next door to the Morris family in 1860 a Ben Bussell family with a son named W. G. Bussell age one. Now I am thinking that the first aunt must be right and that perhaps W. G. Bussell was the first husband. I have not found a marriage record and I can't find either family in the 1870 census. I know Benjamin Morris moved to Jefferson Co., AR and is living there in the 1880 census. I surmise that Margaret who was born 1858 married when she was about 18 or about 1876. This W. G. would have been one year younger than she. I feel certain he died soon afterward their marriage as there were no children. Margaret's sister, Virginia, who is married to Will Flemister and is in the 1860 census for Drew Co.moved to Pike Co., AR. Margaret probably went to be with her sister and brother in law in Pike Co. after the first husband died and met my grandfather and married by 1879. Can anyone shed any light on this?

It is said that William HATCHELL died in Drew Co., AR 25 Nov 1859. It is also said that his wife Mary "Polly" (Lee) Hatchell died there 5 May 1859. Can anyone tell how to find proof of these death dates? They may have been living with their son Erastus Franklin Hatchell who married Barbara Ann Stephens in Drew Co. and lived there until after 1860.
