Sallie Anna (Flowers) Poe


Buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetery is:

Sallie Anna (Flowers) Poe, daughter of Joseph Ward Flowers and Sarah Ellen Davidson Flowers. She was born March 31, 1897, Mt. Nrbo, Faulkner Co. and died March 22, 1924 in Little Rock.

"Annie" is shown to be attending Mt. Vernon School in 1905. Anna was listed in William Tavners Bible as born 31 March 1897.

Mrs. Annie Poe has been seriously ill this past week with heart trouble. John and Farley Poe are here at present, being called to the bedside of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Poe.

MRS. B.H. POE

The body of Mrs Sallie Ann Poe, age 27, wife of B.H. Poe, who died at a Little Rock Hospital last night, was brought to Conway at 10:30 o'clock this morning. Serviced were held at the family home on East Oak Street this afternoon and the body will be taken Wednesday morning to Mt. Vernon for burial. Mrs Poe is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mildred and Sylvia: a son, Howard: her mother, Mrs. Sarah Flowers, all of this city; and by four brothers, W.T. Flowers of Conway, R.E. Flowers and J.W. Flowers of Mt. Vernon and J.T. Flowers of Holland.

When "Annie" died Daughter, Mildred was 9 years old, son, William Howard was 6 years old and daughter, Sylvia was 3 years old. Benjamin Harvey Poe did not remarry untill 1933, 9 years later.
