This Nichols Chapel Cemetery gate is new, the other one was crushed by a tree in a storm that hit the Altus area last year. In the Ozark paper on 16 May 2001 it stated:
The new sign at the Nichols Chapel Cemetery was donated by the Muchmore children in memory of George E. and Dessie (Page) Muchmore. What a wonderful thing this family did to replace the gate. Also in the steps of behind the gate is carved Nichols into it.
My grandmother is buried a few feet away on the right of the gate.

This is A different Nichols Cemetery than you have. It is North of Ozark, East of Anderson Farm and South of turkey houses on the (HWY 352 – The old Wire Road) East of Hwy 23.
Nichols Cemetery,
North of Ozark. East of Anderson Farm and South of turkey houses on the (HWY 352 – The old Wire Road) East of Hwy 23.
Four miles North of Ozark. Take Hwy 23 North to Hwy 352, go East on 352 about ½ mile to the Anderson lane, go South about ½ a mile to the Anderson house. This Cemetery is located in a Wooded area about ¼ mile Southeast of house. There are twelve unmarked graves. This survey was done in 1969.

BURIALS ON NICHOL'S FARM....how they were found.
My brother stopped by a rest area, he thinks it was in Franklin County, but
not relley sure. While walking around he came upon some grave markers and
it made him curious so he turned to the his family searcher, me, for answers.
I can't help him. Graves are under a tree. Markers haveOllie Nichols

born January 7, 1874
died Sept 15, 1899
Carrie Nichols
born April 15, 1880
died Oct 2, 1899
He wants to know if this is brothers and sisters or ?
Casue of thier death, because if was very close to each other.

The rest stop is in Franklin County, out of Ozark, AR., on the site of
the old NICHOLS farm. The 3 children are those of William & Catherine NICHOLS. I was told by a
grandson of William & Catherine that there was a typhoid epidemic in Franklin County and that William made burial boxes and buried the children on the homeplace. The family is listed in 1880 Franklin County, Arkansas census.
