STEPHENS
I have a rather unique problem. My grandfather, Fred Stephens, was born, along with a twin, ED, on 30 Mar 1890, in "Salem AR". I find that there are five, count 'em...five Salems in the state of AR...in Fulton Co., in Ouachita Co., in Pike Co., in Saline Co., and, perhaps, in
Faulkner Co. Now, which county should I start in??? Also, compounding the problem, is the fact that the 1890 census is, as everyone knows, unavailable. Does anyone know anything about a Stephens family in any of these counties? The father of Ed and Fred was James Knox Polk
(called "Polk") Stephens, b. 24 May 1854 in, we think, TN, and their mother was Adnie Ozella Lemonds, b. 30 Dec 1860 in Henry Co. TN. The twins were the only children born in "Salem"...others were born in OK, and Sebastian Co. AR. I'd appreciate anyhelp I can get. Submitter: Pat Curliss-Leiker

was referred to as "Aunt Cal" and was married to a doctor who practiced in Wild Cherry, which no longer exists. I realize it's a shot in the dark, but I have no other leads. Please let me know how I need to proceed to look at these records. Thank you! Submitter: Shryl
