SECURITY BANK AND TRUST


It is impossbile to make a thorough disclosure of the resources of this city without making a careful resume of it's financial instituations, through the indispensible aid of which the prosperity has been promoted and made stable and secure. Paragould and Greene County, rich in their varied resources, have ample facilities for banking through the medium of the city's four banks, one of the strongest and most successful of which is the Security Bank & Trust Company. The history of this bank since its organization in 1906 has been a part of the history of Greene ounty, which it has done its share to develope. MCHANEY'S STUDIO


No town or city can well afford to be without a first-class photograph studio, nor can the citizens afford to go to other towns and cities to have work done when they have such an artist at home. To be a good photographer one must be a lover of the beautiful, precise and accurate and able to calculate the amount of light and darkness necessary in the production of a natural likeness. J. Thomas McHaney, proprietor of McHaney's Studio, has for years has made photography a theoretical and practical study. All that one needs to be convinced of his superior skill is a visit to his studio, and there study the hundreds of photographs on exhibition which show that they were printed from the most perfect negatives and touched by the hand of a skilled artist. This studio is elegantly furnished and his apparatus is the best known to the art of modern photography, thus enabling him to do the best work on short notice. This business was established in 1900 and is located at the corner of North Pruet and Highland Streets. Mr. McHaney makes pictures of all sizes and styles, his specialty being work of the highest possible class. He also does kodak finishing and enlarging, framing, etc. The McHaney Camera Supply Co., operated in connection, is also owned by Mr. McHaney. The last named concern carries a complete line of cameras and supplies, a special feature being made of Eastman and Ansco lines. Personally Mr. McHaney is well known throughout this section as a progressive, straightforward business man and has many friends in all walks of life.


INMAN DRUG COMPANY - THE NYAL PHARMACY


Very prominent among the business houses that are fast making for Paragould a name high among the businesses of the State, is the Inman Drug Company, located at 107 N. Pruet Street. This establishment is attractively furnished with elegant fixtures, the large counter display cases being made of plate glass and marble and stocked with nothing but the very best of goods. Their shelves are filled with the purest and freshest drugs, druggists' sunderies, chemicals, toilet articles, perfumes, proprietary medicines, stationary, cigars, tobaccos, fine box candies, school books, etc. A beautiful iceless fountain of the very latest type with a 12 foot marble counter at which is dispensed all the delicious beverages it is possible to imagine is one of the special features of this popular establishment. Neat tables have also been provided for serving ladies and their escorts. Two of their special lines are the "Whitman's" fine candies and the "Nyal" line of proprietary remedies and toilet articles. This business was founded 3 years ao and has been operated under its present style about 15 months. It is owned by G.T. Inman, a registered pharmacist of experience and marked abitlity. He is well known in this city, honest and conscientious in his every undertaking and a liberal supporter of any project advanced in the interests of the community in which he resides.


PARAGOULD GARAGE COMPANY


The tremendous development of the automobile industry has made it imperative upon every community priding itself upon keeping pace with the strides of progress, to have within it confines garages in keeping with the growing importanceof the industry. One of the best representatives of this line in Paragould is the Paragould Garage Company, located in spacious quarters on Main Street: This firm began business March 10, 1918, and since that time has succeeded in developing a large and steadily increasing patronage.

They do a general repair and storage business, furnishing the promptest kind of service at economical prices and also deal in accessories, oils, greases, etc. This business men who stand high in the estimation of all. Mr. Norman is Chief of Police of Paragould, an office he is filling with marked credit to himself and to the general satisfaction of all concerned. M.R. Foster, a young man of wide practical experience in the automobile business, is the active manager.


CICERO THOMPSON'S TOGGERY


A store which is sure to catch the attention of the passer-by is that known as Cicero Thompson's Toggery, conveniently located at 110 N. Pruet Street. This one of the most progressive stores in the city, and carries a stock as complete and up-to-date as could be found in the larger cities. This stock includes a very fine line of men's furnishings, hats caps, shoes, clothing, etc. A special feature is made of the celebrated Thompson Bros. line of shoes, which in quality is in a class of it's own.

This store is equipped with modern fixtures, the stock is neatly and conveniently arranged and the interior presents a neat, business-like appearance. The business had its advent in our midst September 29, 1917, and since that date has gained the fullest confidence of the public by handling high grade goods,quoting moderate prices and adhereing to straightforward methods. Cicero Thompson, the proprietor, is one of our well known, enterprising and thorough going business men, and takes a considerable interest in every movement that promises improvement in conditions in the community.


W. H. WILSON


Comparatively few people realize the the importance that a properly conducted blacksmith saves both man and his best friend, the horse. is work, however, to attain the best results must be done on scientific principles, and while it is generally agreed that a blacksmith earns his living "by the sweat of the brow," the successful one is the one who works with his brains as well. Among the blacksmiths doing business in Paragould none are more reliable or enjoy a better patronage than W.H. Wilson, located at the corner of Second and Junction Streets. He has all up-to-date facilities for taking care of all kinds of high grade blacksmithing, horseshoeing, wagon work and general repairing, makes farm and business wagons to order, also automobile truck bodies, a speciality being made of the last named line. Mr. Wilson has spent the greater part of his life in this line, knows it in all of its details and makes it a rule to employ only the most competent assistants. He has been established here about 16 years, stands high in the community and has contributed liberally toward the up-building of Paragould and surrounding country.
