Declarations of Intention

 

Naturalization Forms  found in the old Courthouse basement. The information on these forms is summarized below. Emigrants were required to renounce their allegiance and fidelity to any foreign ruler or sovereignty. Each person was required to repeat the following oath:

"I am not an anarchist; I am not a polyamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy; and it is my indention in good faith to become a citizen of the United States of America, and to permanently reside therein; SO HELP ME GOD."
