Wilma Nadine SPROUSE

Wilma Nadine Sprouse, 63, of Corning died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1934 in Boydsville. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Connie Nadine Sprouse and Kathy Sprouse.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Sprouse of Springfield, Mo., Onan Sprouse of Corning and Michael Sprouse of Cariane, Mo.; her father Rudolph Burns of Corning; a brother, Don Burns of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Georgie Fitzgerals of Cahokia, IL.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Bryan Malone officiating.

Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal.

Grace BEELER

Grace BEELER, 90, of Paragould died Tuesday, Dec. 2,, 1997, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 10, 1906, in Lafe. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Beeler; a son, Azro Beeler; a
granddaughter, Regina Dodds; and her parents, Azro and Effie Pearly WithrowYeargain.

Survivors nclude four sons, Billy Beeler of Lonoke, Earl Gene Beeler and Glynn Beeler, both of Paragould, and Ernest Dale Beeler of Jonesboro;three daughters, Faye Dodson of Greenville, Ill., Peggy Gordon of Paragould and Ruth Larrivee of Pamona, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be a 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with the Rev. Junior Vester officiating. Burial will be in Gainsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight t the funeral home

Tom Otis FARLEY

Tom Otis FARLEY, 82, of Beech Grove died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at his home.
He was born Nov. 20, 1915, in the Union Grove community. He was a former employee of the ASC office, Robb Gin Co., and Paragould Co-op.

He was a retired farmer and member of Stanford Baptist Curch, where he was a deacon and
served as treasurer for 43 years. He also served on the Stanford School Board for 15 years.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry and Sizzie Bell Johnson Farley; and six brothers, Cecil Farley, Wavy Farley, Tony Farley, Leonard Farley, Stuart Farley and Dallas Farley.

Survivors include his wife, Viva Nell Farley of Beech Grove; a son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Phyllis Farley
of Sullivan, Ill.; a brother, Carl Farley of Swartz Creek, Mich.; a sister, Winnie Tomlinson of Paragould; three grandchildren and their spouses, Catherine and J.R. Craig and Roger and Amanda Farley, all of Sullivan, and Lesa and Alan Oathour of Bethany, Ill.; and five great- grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with the Revs. Marion Gramlind and
Sam Stewart officiating.
Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Miller, Elwyn Shewmaker, Glen Newberry, Frankie Don Pillow, Larry Faulkner and Carol Rice.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Victor Rowe, Gilbert Clark, George Max Robb, Phil Yates, Donald Fitzgerald and
Earl McKelvey.

Bernard Allen BOREN

Bernard Allen BOREN, 80, of Paragould, formerly of Rector and Marmaduke, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.

He was born April 16, 1917, in Greene County. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Uniroyal.

He was of Church of Christ faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther O. and Willie Era Rogers Boren; two brothers, Paul Boren and J.C. Boren; and a sister, Opal Barringer.

Survivors include is wife, Imogene Boren of Paragould; two sons, Allen Boren of Paragould and Barry Boren of Rector; a daughter, Debbie Boren of Rector; and five step-children; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral was on Wednesday at Irby Funeral Service n Marmaduke with Ken Roden officiating.

Burial was at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

 

Ruth MAY

Ruth MAY, 69, of Clio, Mich. died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich. He was born Sept. 21, 1928 in Paragould.

He was a retired truck driver for Complete Auto Transit. He was a member and trustee at Bethel Baptist Church in Clio. He was a chapter leader of Genesee County Parents of Murdered Children.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry May and Don May; six brothers, Robert May, Neil May, Ralph May, Paul May, Bobby Walker and Eugene Walker; and two sisters, Marjorie Wood and Juanita Cardinale.

Survivors include his wife, Lee May of Clio; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimm Richard and Jean May and Mertie May all of Clio; special friend Jennifer Beard of Clio; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and George Dortch, Nancy and Clarence Barnhill and Marie Rehg, all of Missouri, and Betty Latting of Paragould; six grandchildren and their spouses, Dave and Laua May, William May, Nichols and Sondra May, Joseph and Karyn May, Donali May and Lisa and Marc Keston, all of Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Cameron; and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine May of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Barbara May of Arkansas.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sautrday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Terry Songer officiating.

Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Eldon W. "Gabe" HOYER

Eldon W. "Gabe" HOYER, 61, of Paragould died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.
He was born, Jan. 5, 1936 in Greene County. He was a farmer and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Paragould. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Cleo Garner Hoyer.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Hoyer of Paragould; a son, Brett Hoyer of Paragould; a daughter, Laurie Hoyer of Paragould; two brothers, Cleatus Hoyer of Termo, Calif., and Edward Hoyer of Jonesboro; and four sisters,
Violet Baldwin, Allyne Fitzgerald and Marcella Toombs, all of Paragould, and Grace Mahoney of Little Rock.      

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with the Revs. Mark Ashcraft and
Tommy Toombs officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.


Pallbearers will be Jerry Toombs Jr., Gary Fitzgerald, Kelly McGaughey, Kevin McGaughey, Butch Daniels
and Jerry Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Toombs, Glen Howard, Calvin Cupp and Jack Smoot.

The family requests memorials to be made to Christ United Methodist Church.

 

Gerald Austin HALFORD

Gerald Austin HALFORD, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at Methodist Hospital of Memphis, TN. He was born March 8, 1920, in Reyno.

He was a superintendent at Mississippi River Transmission. He was a
Navy veteranof World War II and a member of Reyno Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Halford, Jr., and his parents, Harry and Bertha Hopkins Halford.

Survivors include his wife, Dora Mae Halford of Poplar Bluff; three sons, Eddid Halford of St. Louis, Mo., James Halford of Poplar Bluff and Larry Halford of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Shelly McCollister, Dawn Zehner, Crystal Halford and Jami Halford; and five great grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 plm. Friday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning with Troy Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow at Nelson Cemetery in Reyno. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Ola Hollis SKELTON

Ola Hollis SKELTON, 84, or Paragould died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital
Mrs. Skelton was born Nov. 13, 1913 in Paragould. She was a homemaker and a Church of Christ.                     

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Susan Burnett Hollis and her husband, Melvin Skelton.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Holcomb and Bill Bailey, both of Paragould; two daughters, Marlis Sue Perry of Hardy and Barbara Jo Holmes of Athens, Alabama; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997 at Mitchell Funeral Home with Bob Lee officiating.

Burial took place at Wood's Chapel Cemetery.

 

Margie Louise CHURCH

Margie Louise CHURCH, 61, of Paragould died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital.

Mrs. Church was born Sept. 6, 1936 in Paragould. She was retired as the Former Owner of Margie's Lucky Spot.

She was Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in deathy by her father, John Pank Long; one son, Homer Dale Church, Jr.; and one brother, Donald Wayne Brown.

Survivors include her mother, Opal Hampton of Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, Lavon Ray and Paula Church

of Paragould; three daughters and on son-in-law, Cynthia Ann Gage, Melissa Ann Couch, and Krickett Diann and   Joseph Lenderman all of Paragould; one brother, Bobby Gene Lang of Paragould; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 2, 1998 at Mitchell Funeral Home with Mark Smith officiating.

Burial followed at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

 


Leon "Pete" FLANAGAN


Leon "Pete" FLANAGAN, 78, of Paragould died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997 at Paragould Nursing Center.
Mr. Flanagan was born Jan. 15, 1919 in Rosedale, Okla.


He was a retired Law Enforcement Officer and a member or the Church of Christ in Florence, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Flanagan.


Survivors include his wife, Wilma Maxine Flanagan of Paragould; one son, Arthur Flanagan of Paragould; one step-son, Eddie Price of Bowling Green, Ky.; one step-daughter, Connie Price of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.


Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 2, at Heath Funeral Home with Rev. Earl McKelvey and Rev Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial took place at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
