Ray Coe

Ray Coe, 85, of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Greene County. He was a farmer and a member of Vines Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Sophia Brooms Coe; one brother, Raymond Coe; and one sister, Willie Rooker.
He is survived by his wife, Vergia Coe of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenda Evans of Lake City, Fredia and Tommy Kellim of St. Louis, Mo., and Debbie and Dan Ring of Paragould; one sister, Thelma Campbell of Paragould; seven grandchildren, Mike and Ken Evans, Shannon Young, Kayce Kieshnick and Jason, Jennifer and Adam Ring; and two great grandchildren, Kendel and Dallas Evans.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with the Rev. Shane Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery in Stanford. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home. 
Pallbearers will be Tom Kellim, Dan Ring, Jason Ring, Adam Ring, Louis Miller and Cory Kieshnick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Miller and Jarome Miller.


Patricia Colleen Fletcher

Patricia Colleen Fletcher, 57, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center, in Kennett, Mo. She was born July 10, 1946, in Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burlice and Elizabeth White.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Coleman and Lonnie Arant, both of Stuttgart; three daughters, Patricia Owenby and Samantha James, both of Madera, Calif., and Katie Clayton of Stuttgart; two brothers, Ralph Franklin White and Daniel Hall, both of Cardwell, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Katherine White of Cardwell, Mo., and Bertha Mae Ellison of Kissiemille, Mo.; eight grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Senath McDaniel Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Knox officiating.
Burial was in Cardwell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Waddell, Jr., Smokey Wright, Jessie Whitaker, Robert Coleman, Lonnie Arant and Brian Lancaster.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Hubble, David Clayton and Jeremy Hyten.


Kathy Kegley

Kathy Kegley, 64, of Cabot, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born July 31, 1939, in Melbourne. She was a real estate agent with Coldwell Bankers Advantage in Cabot. She was a member of Lonoke Baptist Church in Lonoke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Brent Kohlbrecher.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Kegley of Cabot; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenna and Heath Fraine of Palestine, Texas; four stepdaughters, Charlotte Smith of Corning, Brenda Boon of Jonesboro, Renee' Pierce of Corning, and Tammy Fitts of Jonesboro; one brother, Ken Waggoner of Belleville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Zack and Josh Fraine and Chelsea Kohlbrecher; and 10 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning. Rev. Jimmy Wallace and Rev. Donny Loretz will officiate.
Burial will be at Corning Cemetery in Corning.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning.


Bobby G. Loveless

Bobby G. Loveless, 62, of Rector, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Clay County. He was employed by L.A. Darling for 34 years and lived in the Rector community most of his life. He was a member of Boydsville Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estes and Imogene (Shipley) Loveless; one son, Tony Lee Loveless; and one sister, Connie Venita Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mae Loveless of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Dale and Renae Loveless of Paragould, and Gary and Cyndi Loveless of Rector; one daughter, Amy Lynn Loveless of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Ray and Terri Loveless of Moscow, Md.; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie Faye and Randel Harold Lewis of Rector; and six grandchildren, Tony Scott, Cody Lee and Brittany Leeann Loveless, Ashley Nicole Eddington, Brandon Eric Boshears, and Donnie Glen Mendenhall.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector. Bro. Elvis Brandon will officiate.
Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Boydsville.
Active pallbearers will be Oscar Willoughly, Michael Shipley, Larry Wilson, Jim Nunnery, Marvin Milburn and Alan Milburn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie McNeely and Anthony McNeely.

Mildred G. Stanage

Mildred G. Stanage, 92, of Pocahontas, died Nov. 30, 2003, at Randolph Home in Pocahontas. She was born April 23, 1911, at Peach Orchard. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Pocahontas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stanage; her parents, Alvin Wesley and Lela Lowden Young; a son-in-law, Hubert Burton; two sisters; and five brothers.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Wilma Burton of Pocahontas, and Shirley and Roger Thompson of Elburn, Ill.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with the Rev. Bill Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Beatrice Whitmore

Beatrice Whitmore, 98, of Rector, died Nov. 30, 2003, at Rector Healthcare. She was born Oct . 26, 1905, in Illinois to Charlie and Amelia Dyer Farmer. She was a homemaker and had lived in Rector for 20 years. She was a member of Fifth and Pine Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by husbands Delbert V. Moore and Hugh Whitmore; two sons, Charles and Kenneth Moore; and five sisters.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Donna Moore of Lakeland, Tenn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Louis Hatcher of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Estelle Wallis of Tennessee; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fifth and Pine Street Church of Christ with burial following in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. today at Irby Funeral Home Chapel.


John C. Adams

John C. Adams, 85, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 11, 1918, in Paden, Tishomingo County, Miss. He had lived in the Paragould/Jonesboro area for 30 years and was retired from Memphis Hardwood Floors. He also worked in construction. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Edwards Adams of the home; one son, James Adams of Cabot; four daughters, Brenda Moore of Paragould, Vaunda Wilson of Oak Grove Heights, Annette Trolinger of Marmaduke, and Bonnie Adams of Jonesboro; one brother, Ed Adams of Tishomingo, Miss., one sister, Inez Sappington of Booneville, Miss., six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with Victor Eskew officiating.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Crittenden Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Jesse Trolinger, Shannon Chipman, Bill Moore, Jr., Bill Moore, Sr., James Adams, and Donald Trolinger.


Clarence Hicks

Clarence Hicks, 89, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Hamilton County, Ill.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Flavie Campbell Hicks, and one daughter, Leila Briggs.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Hicks, of Paragould; four daughters, Flavie Kulpa, of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Jones, of Sauk Village, Ill., and Brenda Frisby, and Linda Shipman, both of Paragould; one brother, Carl Hicks, of St. Louis, Mo.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Larry McFadden officiating.
Burial will be in Herndon Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ron Kulpa, Don Kulpa, John Shipman, Steve Frisby, Bryan Shipman.
There will be no visitation.


Billy Joe Cook

Billy Joe Cook, 70, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at the Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro.
He was born in Bono, and lived most of his life in the Jonesboro-Bono area. He was a retired glass glazier and owned and operated the City Glass Co. in Jonesboro for several years. He was a member of the Alsup Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Del and Terry Lew Cook.
Survivors include, his wife, Lou Sandefur Cook of the home; two daughters, Theresa Kirksey and Tara Harrelson, both of Jonesboro; one son, Larry Cook of Paragould; three sisters, Ophelia Johnson, Vick Griffin, and Artie Mitchell, all of Jonesboro; one brother, George Cook of Pocahontas; eight grandchildren, Hope Cook, Terry Cook, Jr., Jerry Cook, Terry Cook, Zachary Kirksey, Billy Kirksey, Brian Kirksey and Grayson Harrelson; and four great-grandchildren, Cody Cook, Tristan Cook, Lasha Johnson and Madison Kirksey.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Emerson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leon Minick officiating.
Burial will follow in Herndon Cemetery north of Jonesboro. 
Pallbearers are Jerry Cook, Billy Kirksey, Terry Cook, Zachary Kirksey, Brian Kirksey and Mike Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are the Crowley's Ridge Band and the Old Country Band.

James Polk Parker, Jr.

James Polk Parker, Jr., 60, of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at his home.
He was born June 9, 1943, in Lepanto and was a self-employed wood worker.
Survivors include his wife, Bert Parker of the home; one son, Sonny Parker of Paragould; one daughter, Shannon Kartvelishvili of Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Roger Parker of Bentonville; two sisters, Bernice Burgess of Ukiah, Calif., and Elsie Drope of Paragould; and several grandchildren.
The funeral will be private and under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.


Betty Lou Burton

Betty Lou Burton, 62, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Paragould, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at White County Medical Center in Searcy.
She was born May 14, 1941, in Paragould. She was a homemaker and an avid sports fan. She loved Southern Gospel music and was a member of the Mesquite Church of Christ, where she was active in the women's ministry.
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Wilson Dollins.
Survivors include her husband, Terry F. Burton of Garland; her mother, Earline Dollins of Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kelley Burton of Searcy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Cause and Kim and Troy Graham, all of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karolyn Gregory of Paragould, and Brenda and Jimmy Dan Maddox of Jonesboro; and six grandchildren, Andrew Cause, Aaron Cause, Jennifer Graham, Gregory Graham, Kamryn Burton and Kyle Burton.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heath Colonial Chapel with Winston Burton and Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Pine Knot Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.
Pallbearers are Richard Brummett, Mark Maddox, Timothy Maddox, David Cause, Troy Graham and Jimmy Dan Maddox.

William Arvin Horne

William Arvin Horne, 86, of Bushnell, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Dade City, Fla.
He was born in Beech Grove. He farmed and worked at Dr Pepper before moving to Flint, Mich., where he worked for 30 years at Buick Motor's plant.
He retired and moved to Bushnell, Fla. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Alan Horne; his parents, James B. and Janie Hardin Horne; six sisters, Dora Horne, Stella Davis, Ethel Russom, Vestal Norman, Zelma Russom and Alleen Rogers; and two brothers, Homer Horne and Elmer Horne.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie North Horne, of Bushnell, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janalee and Carl Fritzler, of Webster, Fla., and Kathy LaVeck of Mattydale, N.Y.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Purcell Funeral Home Chapel in Bushnell, Fla.. with the Rev. Al Dotson officiating.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Bushnell.

Lewis Ervin Hughes, Jr.

Lewis Ervin Hughes, Jr., 26, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the Regional Medical in Memphis.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Jonesboro and an associate manager of Dixie Cafe.
He was a 1996 graduate of Nettleton High School and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Leah Newkirk Hughes of Jonesboro; his parents, Lewis, Sr., and Deborah Walker Hughes of Jonesboro; one brother, Tommy Dewayne Hughes of Jonesboro; his paternal grandparents, John and Annie Hughes of Poughkeepsie; his maternal grandparents, V.T. and Hazel Walker of Jonesboro; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Kenneth Hargrave officiating. Burial will be in Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Leon "Dink" Clark

Leon "Dink" Clark, 88, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was a retired small business owner and painter. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church and was involved in politics in the community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavannah Clark; his father, John "Jack" Winfield Clark; his mother, Essie Mae Austin Clark; two brothers, Thurman "Nub" Clark and Carl Clark; and two sisters, Thelma Clark Zumwalt and Bernice Clark Farley.
He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Slayton of Dalhart, Texas; three brothers, Connie Clark, Boyce Clark and Austin Clark, all of Paragould; three sisters, Opal Wood of Southaven, Miss., Bonnie Ross of Paragould, and Ardith Jonston of Burton, Mich.; three grandsons, Michael Slayton, Ricky Slayton and Chris Slayton; one granddaughter, Cindy Slayton; four great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Lavern Ellsworth Gray

Lavern Ellsworth Gray, 82, of Paragould, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at his residence of natural causes. He was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Greene County. He was a farmer, a World War II veteran and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Abbie Killian Gray; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Dorian and Linda Gray of Searcy, Randy and Connie Gray of Light, Lee and Cathy Gray of Stanford, and Paul and Barbara Gray of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Major "Dob" Walker of Light, and Karen and Jerry Clifford of Paragould; one daughter-in-law, Judy Gray of Paragould; one sister, Violet "Slee" Perkins of Delano, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Dale Walker will officiate.
Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.
Pallbearers are Todd Clifford, Casey Gray, Brad Gray, Blake Gray, Jerry D. Clifford, Terry Clifford, Chuck Partlow, and Allen Crossno.

Eula Holland

Eula Holland, 94, of Knobel, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at her residence. She was born Dec. 20, 1908, at Halliday. She has been affiliated with Hollands Lodge and Bait Shop for the last 40 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by husband, Carl Holland; and her parents, Marion T. and Ida Tinsley Holland.
She is survived by one son, Jim Holland of the home; one daughter, Jane Blackford of Knobel; one granddaughter, Lisa Blackford of Dallas, Texas; one grandson, Mark Blackford and his wife, Pam, of Dallas; two great-granddaughters, Amanda and Brook of Dallas; and one sister-in-law, Eva Mumford and her husband, Leo, of Flint, Mich.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Wava Irene "Rena" Levins

Wava Irene "Rena" Levins, 80, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center of natural causes. She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in the Finch Community of Greene County. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Levins; her parents, Hill and Della Smith; two brothers, Willard and Joe Smith; and five sisters, Albertine Gunn, Frankie Greenway, Tomazine Wince, Alberta Davis and Violet Higgins.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Gerald Snapp of Paragould; three brothers, Doris Mack Smith of Jonesboro, and George and Herbert Smith, both of Paragould; four sisters, Anna Mae Boozer, Earline Boling, and Shirley Crabtree, all of Paragould, and Sue Romine, of Rector; two grandchildren, LaDonna Snapp and Kelly Lyles; and four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ariel and Destiny Snapp and Tyler Lyles.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Finch Cemetery. Greg Addison will officiate.
Burial will be at Finch Cemetery. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:10 a.m. today.
Pallbearers will be James Walker, Calvin Lyles, Richard Roberts, and Dennis Cooper.
There will be no visitation.


Walter A. Skinner

Walter A. Skinner, 77, of Brookland, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Leachville, Mr. Skinner lived in the Buckeye Community before moving to Brookland in 1963. He was a farmer, and operated a vegetable stand in Brookland. For several years, he also operated Skinner's Auction in Brookland. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Fortenbery; a brother, James Skinner; and his parents, John and Florence McCauley Skinner.
He is survived by three sons, John Andrew Skinner of Bay, Glen Dale Skinner of Jonesboro, and Bobby Wayne Skinner of Atlanta, Texas; four sisters, Linda Brown, and Faye Rece, both of Jonesboro, and Charlene Slatton and Anne Talent, both of Loves Park, Ill.; three brothers, John Skinner of Jonesboro and Robert Skinner and Joe Skinner, both of Edgewater, Fla; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland with the Rev. Donnie Jones officiating. Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers include Joe Johnson, Kevin Chester, Rick Story, Dale McGee, Darrell Dawson, Duane Harvey, David Head, and Ronnie Wall.

Tania Lynn White

Tania Lynn White, 27, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, near Fredericktown, Mo. 
Survivors include her parents, Kathryn Mulkey of Pocahontas and Charles White of Delaplaine; her grandmother, Rethia Bristol of Walnut Ridge; four sisters, Tracy Nelson and Jill Lynxwiler, both of Jonesboro, and Amanda and Shawna White, both of Delaplaine; and one brother, Michael White of Delaplaine.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Chapel of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Burial will be a Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today, before the service.


Rahshun Sky Kavanaugh

Rahshun Sky Kavanaugh, newborn, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
She is survived by her parents, Chad and Amanda Kavanaugh of Paragould; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Sue Rudder of Paragould; her maternal great-grandparents, Robert Rudder of Lake City and Mary Jurs of Chicago, Ill.; and one uncle, Timothy Kavanaugh of Jacksonville, Fla.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.


Ora Lee Milburn 

Ora Lee Milburn, 79, of Jonesboro, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at The Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. Born in Hoxie, Mrs. Milburn lived most of her life in the Nettleton-Jonesboro area. She was retired from the bakery department in the Carl R. Reng Center on the Arkansas State University campus.
She was a member of the Apt Full Gospel Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jean Quick; a sister, Audrey Lamberth; two brothers, Leo Perdue and Clifford Perdue; and her parents, Ed and Effie Perdue.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Milburn of Jonesboro; two daughters, Earnestine Gardner and Patricia Carmichael, both of Jonesboro; one son, Jimmy Hall of Trumann; two brothers, Floyd Edward Perdue of Florida, and Red Purdue of Paragould; 13 grandchildren, Pam Johnson, Paula Hunt, Stevie Hunt, Junior Hunt, Amie Files, Bryan Files, Justin Carmichael, Shawn Gardner, Julie Gardner, Vernon Gardner, Ricky Pierce II, Jimmy Michael Hall and David Hall; one great-grandchild, Tia Hunt; and one great-great-grandchild, Dominck Hunt.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Dub Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Adah Faye Rollings Ransom, 69, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Greene County. She was a homemaker and a retired factory worker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Turner and Valah Weatherly Rollings; one sister, Suda Mae Rollings; and two brothers, Louis Earl Rollings and Marlis Rollings.
She is survived by two nieces, Carol Cooper of Melbourne and Kathy Rudd of Branson, Mo.; four nephews, Roy Rollings, Richard Rollings, Gene Rollings and Dean Rollings, all of Paragould; one sister-in-law, Mozella Barber of Paragould; two aunts, Valna "Jackie" Patterson and LaVerne Weatherly of Pine Bluff; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with the Revs. Eddie Gene Wright and Kevin Fell officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ernest Dale Beeler

Ernest Dale Beeler, 65, of Powhatan, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Cainesville. He served in the Vietnam War, served on the USS Okinawa and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1975. He worked as plant maintenance coordinator for Arkansas State University until 1999. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Houston and Ona Grace Yeargain Beeler.
He is survived by his wife, Jarmia Faye Textor Beeler of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Dale and Tina Beeler of Bono; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Beeler of Powhatan; three grandchildren, Amanda Nicole, Samantha Kathleen and Luke Caleb Beeler; three brothers, Earl Gene Beeler and Glynn Beeler, both of Paragould, and Billy Beeler of Lonoke; two stepchildren, Matthew Pickney and John David Turpin; and three sisters, Faye Dodson of Alton, Ill., Ruth Larrivee of Powhatan and Peggy Gordon of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Winn officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens of Paragould.

Jesse Leorn Gillean 

Jesse Leorn Gillean, 65, of Delaplaine, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born Feb. 5, 1938, at Delaplaine. He was a diecaster for Emerson Electric for 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma Lorene Varner Gillean and Richard Clay Gillean; his first wife, Elma Youvone Eveland Gillean; and one brother, Bobby Jack Gillean.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Gillean of Delaplaine; one son, Dewayne Gillean of Walnut Ridge; six brothers, Henry Gillean of Peach Orchard, Glendale Gillean of Atkins, Don Gillean, Dan Gillean and Eddie Wayne Gillean, all of Paragould, and James Dale Gillean of Peach Orchard; and four sisters, Patricia Rogers of Peach Orchard, Deonna Gray and Darnell Smothers, both of Paragould, and Kathy Gillean of Delaplaine.

Opal Irene Morrow Jetton

Opal Irene Morrow Jetton, 88, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Paragould, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Memphis Jewish Home in Memphis, Tenn. She was born July 25, 1915, in Beech Grove. She was a former cook at Campbell's Cafe and attended Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Morrow; her husband, John Frank Jetton; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Gayle Jetton of Paragould; two daughters and one son-in-law, Judith Ann Jetton of Paragould and Sharron and Charles Shive of Cordova, Tenn.; six grandsons, Chester and Lee Jetton and Scotty, Brian, Rodney and Randy Shive; eight great-grandchildren, Zack and Lauren Jetton and Kristen, Courtney, Taylor, Logan, Cole and Cayden Shive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hale.

He was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Kennett, Mo. He was a press operator for Emerson Electric and lived in the Rector community most of his life. He was a member of the Assembly of God.

M.F. "Dood" Garner, 83, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of Paragould, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Paragould. He grew up in Light and was a graduate of Walcott High School. He moved to Illinois in the 1950s where he was employed by and retired from the Caterpillar Company.

Eula Arnold, 66, of Peach Orchard, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at her residence.
She was born May 6, 1937, in Knobel. She was a welder with Waterloo Industrial in Pocahontas and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Arnold; her parents, Henry Joseph and Carolyn Ester Miles Lovelady; three brothers, Eulis Lovelady, Weldon Lovelady and Floyd Lovelady; and two sisters, Imogene Billingsly and Faye Stormes.

Andrew Crockett

The Rev. Andrew Crockett, 74, of Light, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born Sept. 14, 1929 in Stanford. He had retired from Emerson Electric Co. Tow Motor Division and was pastor at Rickey Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for 28 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delcie Crowley Crockett; and one brother, Cleveland Crockett.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Crockett of the home; two daughters, Lorna Potter and Andrea Warner, both of Paragould; three brothers, Floyd "Dobe" Crockett of Arkansas, John L. Crockett of Chaffee, Mo., and Larry Crockett of Missouri; three sisters, Margie Cooper of Paragould, Jane Hall of Memphis, Tenn., and Genieve Goforth of Washington, D.C.; and six grandchildren, Clint Porter, Amy Howe, Whitney Hill, Drew Hill, Jade Warner and Faith Warner.

George Leonard Harmon, 85, of Paragould, and formerly of Nimmons, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Paragould.
He was born May 3, 1918, in Nimmons and had retired from Michigan Seamless in South Lyon, Mich.. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Bethel General Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Lewis Harmon; his parents, George W. and Emma Head Harmon; six brothers, Charlie Harmon, Robert Harmon, Raymond Harmon, Welby Harmon, Thomas Harmon and Ezra Harmon; and two sisters, Carrie Ramsey and Ruthie Schnell.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Harmon of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Herb Shreer and Pauline and Bob Lucchetti, all of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, Wendell Harmon, of Port Charlotte; six stepchildren, Netta Adams of San Antonio, Texas, Gary Williamson and Lynda Woolery, both of Piggott, Ronda Beasley of Paragould, Crystal Current of Tucson, Ariz., and David Williamson of South Lyon, Mich.; two sisters, Amy Barker of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Vada Moore of Parma, Mich.; 40 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

"Owen" William O. Phelan, 82, of Long Beach, Calif., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in Long Beach, Calif.
He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Corning. He retired after 32 years with Atlantic Richfield Oil Co. as a welder and boilermaker. He was in the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II. 
Survivors include his wife, Anna Phelan of Long Beach; one daughter, Patricia Brown of Canyon Country, Calif.; one stepson, Oliver Berry of Long Beach; four sisters, Becky Talkington of Auburn, Ala., Betty Bracken of Rockford, Ill., Sarah Watson of Castaic, Calif., and Mary Watson of Long Beach; three brothers, Gene Phelan of Corning, Gary Phelan of Long Beach and Tom Phelan of Rolling Hills Estate, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hattie Mae Page Peters.

Virginia M. Noisworthy

Virginia M. Noisworthy, 88, of Aiken, S.C., formerly of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken.
She was born December 6, 1915 in Paragould, graduated from Paragould High School and lived most of her life in Memphis, Tenn. An active volunteer with the ASPCA, she moved to Aiken in 1993. She loved to grow roses and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.O. Noisworthy; and her parents, Ira M. and Roche Lemons and Howard McDonald.

Hinda Tinsley Thomas, 92, of Rector, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
She was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Leonard. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and May Tinsley; one son, A.L. Happy Thomas; and one brother, Gilbert Tinsley.
Survivors include her husband, Ott Thomas of Rector; one brother, Melvin Tinsley of Shelbyville, Ind.; three sisters, Flora Lee Wells of Greensburg, Ind., and Nadine Bogue and Marlene Linville, both of Morristown, Ind.; four grandchildren, Wilma Osbon of Paragould, Judy Thomas of Rector, Mary Pribnow of Wisconsin and Larry Jones of Texas; nine great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Warren Walker, 37, of Peach Orchard, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 16, 1966, in Paragould. He was a farmer, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the United Methodist Church in Corning.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, E.J. Walker.

Richard Lavier "R. L." Wells

Richard Lavier "R.L." Wells, 73, of Paragould, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born April 7, 1930, in Granada County, Miss. He was a graduate of the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Texas and a business owner of Wellsco, Inc. Telecom Services, Wellsco Graphic Solutions. He was retired from General Telephone and was a member of East Side Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a board member of American State Bank, a board member of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and president of the Greene County Endowment Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Josie Blakely Wells; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Cummings Wells of Paragould; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James B. Wells and David and Carrie Dawn Wells, all of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and William Landers and Cheri and Chris Cone, all of Paragould; two brothers, Linwood Wells of Paragould and Lavon Wells of Duncanville, Texas; one sister, Erma Lou Lucius of Bullard, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Landers, Carrie Landers, Elizabeth Landers, Ashleigh Wells, Bryce Wells, Carson Cone and Conner Cone.

Donald Edward Blaylock, 47, of Paragould, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born Oct. 18, 1956, in Montgomery County, Miss. He was a painter, a carpenter and a member of the Methodist church.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Vicki Marie Parson.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Charles R. and Cheryl Blaylock of Winona, Miss.; his mother, Jewell Blaylock of Paragould; two daughters, Angel Blaylock of Nupora, Miss., and Tonya Blaylock of Vaiden, Miss.; one brother, William Blaylock of Vaiden, Miss.; and two grandsons.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Jim Chaplain officiating.

Ralph M. Cofield

Ralph M. Cofield, 71, of Corning, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Hackberry, Ala. He was a retired supervisor in a machine shop. He also served in the U.S. Army and attended Moark Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Lee (Prince) Cofield; his parents; and one brother, O'Neal Cofield.
Survivors include three brothers, William Brice Cofield, John T. Cofield, and Charles H. Cofield, all of Alabama; three sisters, Jean Jones and Corene Cofield, both of Alabama, and Mavis Frederick, of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.

Mable Howard, 56, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Cape Coral Memorial Hospital in Cape Coral, Fla.
She was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Lancaster, Calif. She was a homemaker and attended the Assembly of God Church in Paragould.

Jimmie Wayne Jennings, 53, of Paragould, formerly of Rector, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at his home.
He was the deli-bakery manager for Wal-Mart and had lived in the community for 25 years. He was a member of the Marine reserve for six years and a member of Rector First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Wayne and Esta Mae (Jackson) Jennings.

E. A. "Aden" Sanders, 86, of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Paragould Nursing Center.
He was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Delaplaine. He served in World War II in the Army and Navy. He was the former owner of Sanders Station, Evinrude Outboard Motor Sales and Mary Carter Paint Store. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maurine Sanders; his parents, Henry and Rose Campbell Sanders; several brothers and sisters; and one great grandson, Levi Babcock.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Ray, Frankie Babcock and Jan Monroe, all of Paragould; five grandchildren, Sherry Jetton, Steven Babcock, Jr., and Mitchell Porter, all of Paragould, Tammy Gulley of Jonesboro and Kenny Babcock of Gulfport, Miss.; and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Joan "JoAnn" Sims, 69, of Paragould, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 6, 1934 in Brookland. She was a retired school teacher who taught at both Dixie and Brookland Schools. She was a retired sales clerk from Belk's in Paragould and worked in retail at J.C. Penney and J. and T. Merchandise. She was a member of Southside Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, S.A. "Bunk" and Mildred Rupard Watson.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Sims of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzie and Roger Reddick of Paragould; two step-granddaughters, Kasey and Breanne Reddick; one brother, Eddie Watson of Jonesboro; one sister, Alice Branscum of Jonesboro; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mack Autry Thompson, 81, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Greene County. He retired as a major after 20 years of service as an Arkansas State Trooper; retired after more than 25 years with Arkla Gas; and served 14 years in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a deacon at Finch Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Mattie Miller Thompson; one brother, Cleetis Thompson; and one sister, Ilene Thompson.

Edna Mae Oglesby, 80, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Keiser. She was a homemaker and a member of Stonewall Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Buck" Oglesby; her parents, William and Ollie Back Copeland; and one stepson, James "Jay" Oglesby.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Sims of Lafe, Raleigh Garner of Henderson and Bill Garner of Paragould; two daughters, Ann Rogers of Lettsworth, La., and Barbara Phillips of Paragould; three stepsons, Lester Oglesby of Oak Grove, Ralph "Huck" Oglesby of Lafe and Jerry Oglesby of Carnihan, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Phillis Bounds of Marmaduke; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 13 step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Abanathy officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Margaret Stafford, 68, of Neelyville, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at her home.
She was born March 12, 1935, in Corning. She was retired from Corning Headstart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Wallace and Anne Marie Hudson Stafford; one brother, Harry Stafford; and one sister, Glenda Smith.
Survivors include three nephews, Keith Smith of Neelyville, Mo., Ronnie Smith of Corning and David Stafford of Rockford, Ill.; one niece, Diana Thimming of Rockford; one half-sister, Peggy Patterson of Corning; several great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Corning Cemetery with the Rev. Carmon Miller officiating and under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Carrie Avis Field Stimson

Carrie Avis Field Stimson, 90, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sheridan.
She was born Jan. 22, 1913, in Rector. She was a homemaker and a founding member of the First United Methodist Church of Paragould.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stimson; her parents, James Boss and Bertha Jane Robb Field; and one son, Billy Gene Stimson.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jim and Sue Stimson of Redfield, and Dr. Cary Wayne and Jo Stimson of Crystal Beach, Fla; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould with the Rev. Jeff Rainwater officiating.

Ferne Dollison

Ferne Dollison, 85, of Corning, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was born May 9, 1918, in Brunswick, Neb. She was an office manager for Address-agraft-Multigraft in Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Robert Dollison; her parents, Oscar and Anna Cristina Hansen Aubert; and one daughter, Susanne Garrison.
Survivors include two daughters, Mildren "Midge" Raef of Corning and Roberta "Bobbi" Dollison of Arlington, Texas.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan.
Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.

Gertrude I. Shepherd Green Rose, 66, of Mayfield, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 in Mayfield.
She was born May 18, 1937, in Knobel and was a professional restaurant server.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Wiseman; and one son, Marvin Green.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Dunbar of Mayfield and Rebecca Rose of Forest City, N.C.; one son, Carl Green of Hunter, Mo.; her father, Knobel Shepherd of Grandin, Mo.; two sisters, Marcie Easterline of Indiana and Dori Pyle of Boston, Mass.; two half-sisters, Sheila Shepherd and Tina Shepherd, both of Grandin; one half-brother, Dwight Shepherd of Rockford, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Meranda Green, Lee Green, Brittian Green, Scott Green and Courtney Mae Rose.

Lottie Francis Vallance, 63, of Hardy, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at her home.

Lloyd Hays Adams, 82, of Piggott, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at John J. Pershing V. A. Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born in El Paso and was a retired supervisor for Pepsi Cola Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Pollard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orn and Emma Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Johnson Adams of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Sue Adams of Piggott and Kenneth and Stacy Adams of Jonesboro; two daughters, Peggy Nettles and Laveena Adams, both of Jonesboro; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Danny and May Stokes of Memphis, Tenn., and Dan and Debra Stokes of Paragould; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Barbara and Mick Barjer of Piggott; one brother, Charles "Boe" Adams of Leachville; three sisters, Bonnie Lloyd of Irving, Texas, and Rose Gray and Tulula Cagle, both of Leachville; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with the Rev. Shelly Elkins officiating. Burial will be in the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Home.

Jesse "Dale" Huffman, Sr.

Jesse "Dale" Huffman, Sr., 54, of Black Hawk, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at his home.
He was born Aug. 15, 1949 in Paragould, the son of Jess and Frances Baine Huffman. He grew up in the Paragould area and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Black Hawk in 1987, where he had lived since. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Black Hills Free Trappers and Black Power Club and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Huffman of Black Hawk; three sons, Perry Huffman of Rapid City, Jesse Huffman, Jr., of Box Elder, and John Huffman of Sturgis; one daughter, Jennifer Hersch of Rapid City; one brother, Lon Huffman of Troy, Ill.; two sisters, Nettie Jane Williams of North Little Rock, and Judy Williams of Paragould; five grandchildren, Mercedes Huffman, Alora Huffman, Kenedi Huffman, Ashlea Huffman and Jasper Hersch; and his best friends, Dan Lemke and Princess and Lewis Goodine.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Historic Fort Meade Chapel with Chaplain Moe Greiner officiating.
Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors by Rushmore VFW Post 1273.
Visitation was from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Maxine Ryan

Maxine Ryan, 78, of De Soto, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto.
She was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Jefferson City, Mo. She was a homemaker who had volunteered for years with the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Allen Ryan; her parents, Thomas Clover and Effie Lee Carrow Clover Maness; two sisters, Theda Clover and Beulah Hubbard; and two brothers, Billy Clover and Giles Clover.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wayne Newenham and Mark and Deanna Ryan, all of De Soto, and Allen and Delores Ryan of Paragould; three sisters, Ethel Martin, Norma Price and Betty Kite, all of De Soto; two brothers, Don Clover of Dallas, Texas, and Price Clover of De Soto; five grandchildren, Ben Newenham, Steve Ryan, Marissa Ryan, Brendon Ryan and Spencer Ryan; and one great-grandchild, Shawnee Newenham.

Peggy Jean Howe

Peggy Jean Howe, 65, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was born in Moark and lived several years in St. Louis, Mo., before moving to Jonesboro in 1973. She worked several years as a certified dietary manager for Craighead Memorial and Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro. She was a member of Jonesboro Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jordan McAlpin; seven brothers; and six sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Smith and Kristin McAlpin, both of Jonesboro; one son, Mitchell Howe of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three sisters, Captola Ward of Naples, Ore., Vida Wilcut of Corning and Lavada Homeyer of Wentzville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Tanner Smith, Brianna Smith, Kymberlee McAlpin, Lindsey McAlpin, Tony Paul Howe and Aaron Mitchell Blevins; and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Helen Quintana, 78, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
She was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Springer, N.M. She was a homemaker and a member of Dixie Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Quintana; and three brothers, Chris, Rudy and George.

Ott Arla Thomas, 95, of Rector, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in Paragould.
He was born March 27, 1908, in Rector. He was a carpenter, a farmer and a member of the Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hinda Thomas; his parents, William J. and Eunice Thomas; one son, A.L. Happy Thomas; and three sisters, Maudie Green, Virginia Castleman and Gladys Robertson.
Survivors include two sister, Mary Vangilder of Rector and Lily Rhynes of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Wilma Osbon of Paragould, Judy Thomas of Rector, Mary Pribnow of Wisconsin and Larry Jones of Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry Lee Dortch, 60, of Paragould died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Sunshine Manor in Paragould.
He was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Highland Park, Mich. He was a self-employed contractor for Air Quality and ProTek. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Etta Dortch; and by one brother, Billy Dortch.
Survivors include one brother, Larry Dortch of Paragould; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, June and J.C. Gibson and Jo Ann and Bob Branch, all of Paragould.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodland Heights Cemetery with Futrell Butler officiating.

Thomas Jefferson "Pop" Hatcher

Thomas Jefferson "Pop" Hatcher, 74, of Paragould died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.
He was born April 29, 1929, in Osceola and lived most of his life in the Trumann area before moving to Paragould four years ago. He was retired from the Singer Co. of Trumann and a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church. 
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Delilah Hatcher; one great-granddaughter, Tyler D. Hatcher; his parents, Ross and Jennie Hatcher; six sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Morris D. Hatcher of Paragould and Dale E. Hatcher of Jonesboro; a sister, Doty Gould of Lepanto; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Marked Tree Cemetery with the Rev. James Ward officiating.
Visitation was held Monday at Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.


Lowell Mizell

Lowell Mizell, 90, of Corning, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. 
He was born April 21, 1913, in Poyner, Mo. He was an assistant postmaster at the Corning Post Office for 32 years. He served in the Army Air Corp and was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 719 A&FM. He was a 33-degree Mason. He was a past Parton of the Eastern Star, 32-degree Scottish Rite. He was a Shriner and a member of Sarah Temple in Pine Bluff. He was secretary of the Masonic Lodge for 32 years; a member of D.A.V., Rapert-Royner V.F.W. Post in Corning, and past secretary of the Corning area Chamber of Commerce. He attended the First Baptist Church in Corning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Artie (Scrivner) Mizell; two brothers, Winton Mizell and L.H. Mizell; and a grandson, Christopher Blake Mizell.
Survivors include his wife, Faye (Fickert) Mizell of Corning; one son, Leslie Mizell of Pine Bluff; four brothers, Walter Mizell of Little Rock, Earl Mizell, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., John L. Mizell of Greenville, Texas, and Howard Mizell of Pompano Beach, Fla.; one sister, Alfreda Lawson of Corning; and two grandchildren, Jessica Anne and Ashley Nicole Mizell.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning. Rev. David Richey will officiate.
Burial will be at Corning Cemetery.

Carolyn Ann Brown Huggins, 54, of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
She was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Lambert, Miss. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Irene Brown; and two brothers, George Lee Brown and Bobby Joe Brown.

Eula Francis Neely

Eula Francis Neely, 91, of Rector, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Piggott Community Hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1912. She was a housewife and a lifelong resident of the community. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arley Lee Neely; her parents, Tom and Nettie Shannon Dowdy; two sons, Lowell Neely, and Bobby Neely; and one daughter, Margert Keller.
Survivors include two daughters, Nila Kemmery of Troy, Mo., and Nancy Bullock of Michigan; one brother, Pete Dowdy of Rector; one sister, Agnes Bell of Rector; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Carl Eugene Prince

Carl Eugene Prince, 57, of Marmaduke, formerly of Manila, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his home. He was born in the Little River Community near Manila. He was a retired farmer and ginner and a member of the Marmaduke Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruby Mae Martin Prince; one sister, Beulah Mae Prince; and two brothers, James Harrison Prince and Paul Dean Prince.
Survivors include three brothers, William Prince of Hartford, Mich., Eulis Edward Prince of Etowa, and Bobby Ray Prince of Manila; four sisters, Thelma Gillihan of Mountain View, Pearl Bryant of Oak Harbor, Wash., Shirley Harrell of Cove, Ore., and Wanda Lee Wilcoxon of Port Orchard, Wash.

Dona W. Thompson

Dona W. Thompson, 91, of Dexter, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at her home. She was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Greene County. She lived in Arkansas and Missouri, moving to Dexter in 1951 and to Malden in 1961. There, she was the owner operator of the Thompson Shoe Store. She moved to Paragould in 1985 and returned to Dexter three years ago.
She was a member of the Church of Christ all her adult life, the WPFA Club for 47 years, the Home Extension Club for 10 years and was a member of the Quilting Club for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen B. Thompson; and her parents, William J. and Susie Weaver Warbritton.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Glen Allen and Neta Thompson of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Amy Mosley Risener of Dexter, Mo., and Rosemarry and James A. Stella Irene Rawls, 85, of White Cloud, Mich., formerly of Paragould, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at her home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Paragould. She was a homemaker and a volunteer driver for the Mental Health Center of Newaygo County, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Rawls; her former husbands, Sanford Parker and Joel Moore; her parents, Clyde Kelly and Genie Houston Walters; three sons, Bob Moore, Jerry Parker and Windell Rawls; two brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include six sons, Sandy Parker, Jr., of White Cloud, Mich., Howard Parker and Gordon Parker, both of Flint, Mich., Lindell Rawls, Gary Rawls, and Danny Rawls, all of Paragould; two daughters, Kelly Sue Bradford of Grant, Mich., and Barbara Ethridge of Kissimmee, Fla.; one sister, Dorris Williams of Flint; 47 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with the Rev. Bill Tice and the Rev. Dennis Strope officiating.
Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery in Beech Grove under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Luther Mark Burpo

Luther Mark Burpo, 91, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born June 16, 1912, in Missouri. He was a retired distributor for DX Oil Company and a retired farmer. He was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Harry and Ollie McGee Burpo.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Marie Burpo of Paragould; two daughters, Mary Ellen Groning of Corning and Doris Yates of Searcy; two brothers, George Burpo of Corning and Harry Burpo of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Berniece Hefner of Drummonds, Tenn., and Dorothy Hughes of Hot Springs National Park; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Marion Gramling and Don Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould. Johnie William Mangrum

Johnie William Mangrum, 83, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1920, in Greene County. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department and drove a Mobil Gas truck for years. He attended the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mangrum; his parents, Ernest and Mollie Pillow Mangrum; one daughter, Jo Ann Mangrum; two granddaughters, Mary Francis Mangrum and Joan Carol Mangrum; and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Nippy and Nancy Mangrum and Tim and Lanie Mangrum, all of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Regena and Jim Taylor of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; six grandchildren, Paige Freeman of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Mollie Blanche of Toronto, Canada, and Mimi, Erin, Ali and Will Mangrum, all of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould. Larry McFadden and Art Smith will officiate.
Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.

Burl Octo Smith, 90, of Corning, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born May 15, 1913, in Ripley, Miss., the son of Martha Lou Clark and Burley Smith. He was a minister and a saw miller. He was affiliated with Old Millhouse General Baptist Church in Corning.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi Smith, a brother, Leon Smith; a great-grandson, Bradley Griffin; and a stepson Michael Grayson.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith of the home; one son, Jimmy D. Smith of Corning; three sisters, Beatrice Whitlock, Vallie Johnson, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Ivatee Johnson of Indiana; three stepdaughters, Patty Hackworth of Fayetteville, N.C., Donna Hanna of Biggers and Esther Luna of Poplar Bluff; one stepson, Jimmy Grayson of Seabrook, Texas; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with the Rev. J.C. Joynor and the Rev. J.R. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Stanfield Cemetery, near Clarkton, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Robert Lee Camp, Sr.

Robert Lee Camp, Sr., 75, of Scott City, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was born July 4, 1928, in Greene County to Andrew Louis and Sue Lawrence Camp. He was a clerk for Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Paragould. He was in the Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame of Southeast Missouri.
He was preceded in death by four infant brothers and sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Camp of Scott City; two sons, Robert Camp Jr. of Cape Girardeau and Andrew Camp of Scott City; two sisters, Janis Clarke of Jonesboro and Connie Hansen of Pocatello, Idaho; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Illmo Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home Chapel in Scott City.

Karen Ann Ellis

Karen Ann Ellis, 46, of Marmaduke, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at her residence. She was born Feb. 18, 1957, in Leesburg, Fla. She was a housewife and had lived in the Marmaduke for 31 years. She was a member of the General Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Randall and Ronald Blanton.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ellis of the home; one son, Jason Dewayne Ellis of Paragould; one daughter, Rebecca June Ellis of Rector; one stepdaughter, Jerry Lynn Ellis of Kennett; one brother, Lonnie Blanton of Colorado; five sisters, Deborah Sue Stewart of Florida, Glenda Melton of Florida, Sharon Kay Martin of Malden, Tonya Blanton of Datto and Christie Carroll of Texas; and three grandchildren, Corbin Tyler Ellis, Megan Ann March and Tagan Jasa Ellis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.

 


Erwin Lloyd Ledbetter 

Erwin Lloyd Ledbetter, 75, of Paragould, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born May 25, 1928, in Shawnee, Okla. He had been a resident of Paragould since 1992. He was formerly of Chicago. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #311.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Essie Ledbetter; his parents, Edward Harmon Ledbetter and Edna Lee Erwin Ledbetter; and two brothers, Charles E. Ledbetter, and Robert Lewis Ledbetter.
He is survived by one sister, Elsie Speck of Paragould; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pine Knott Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Lingenfelter officiating, under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Carolyn Rose Pannell Mitchell

Carolyn Rose Pannell Mitchell, 62, of Paragould, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at her residence of natural causes. She was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Eros, Marion County. She was a graduate of Leachville High School, attended Arkansas State University and was co-owner of Pannell Ford Mercury. She formerly taught at Oak Grove Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould, and a Phi Mu Fraternity alumna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doy M. and Vera Rose Pannell; and one sister, Kay Rogers.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Bennie E. Mitchell of Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Kim Mitchell of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Dr. Gary Frankowski of Little Rock; and six grandchildren, Lindsey Kay, David Michael and Landon Matthew Mitchell, and Sara Rose, Ryan Paul and Adam Mack Frankowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie and Bluford Stepp; and her husband, William Trayler.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Trayler of Lepanto and Bernard Trayler of Paragould; one daughter, Janet Bryson of Paragould; two brothers, Vernon Stepp of Kentucky and Hershel Stepp of Paragould; two sisters, Melba Treadway of Carlisle and Joyce Hammon of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Lee Cochran

Myrtle Lee Cochran, 93, of Corning, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Crockett. She was a farmer and a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Otto Cochran; her parents, James Walter and Leota Mae (Walls) Bradberry; one son, Charles Cochran, one brother; four sisters; and two grandchildren, Larry Cochran and Charles Kenneth Cochran.

John B. Nowell

John B. Nowell, 92, of Sikeston, Mo., formerly of Marmaduke, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his residence of natural causes. He was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Greene County. He was a retired farmer. He had been a member of Providence Baptist Church since 1933 and was the oldest member of the church and a deacon. He was also on the Providence Cemetery Trust Fund Committee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Yeargain) Nowell; and his parents, James Thomas and Nancy Annis (Williams) Nowell.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Barb (Null) Nowell of Fenton, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn (Nowell Williams) and Kenneth Cox of Sikeston, Mo.; four grandchildren, Cindy Brown of Fenton, Mo., Deborah Hendrix of Paragould, Scott Williams of Farmington, Mo., and Mark Williams of Bloomfield, Mo.; two step-grandchildren, Kenny Cox and Marie Cox, both of Paragould; nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Providence Baptist Church in Lafe.

Thelma Leonard, 85, of Corning, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott. She was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Moark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Highway Tabernacle Church in Moark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer "Babe" Leonard; two daughters, Joann Leonard Moore and infant daughter Kathy Leonard; three sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Leonard of Paragould and Lowell Leonard of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Grace Sheridan of Corning; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Moark Cemetery. Rev. Billy Snow officiated.

David L. Swink

David L. Swink, 71, of Rector died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in Paragould. He was born May 4, 1932, in Greene County. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. and Altie Swink.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Swink of Rector; two sons, Robert Swink of Lafe and James Swink of Clinton, Ill.; two daughters, Altie Dale Wilson of Marmaduke and Barbara Sue Melton of Rector; and two brothers, Melvin Swink of Paragould and Houston Swink of Pennsylvania.

John C. Grubb, 75, of Boydsville, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in Piggott. He was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Boydsville. He was a veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ida Grubb; 11 brothers and sisters; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Pauline Florence Tippitt, 88, of Rector, died Dec. 30, 2003, at Rector Healthcare.
She was born July 8, 1915, in Dexter, Mo. She was a homemaker and a member of Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Columbus Tippitt; her parents, Harvey Leon and Rosa Strait Henry; two sons, Ira Tippitt and Don O'Dell; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Leon Tippitt of Piggott, Coma Lee Tippitt of Jonesboro and Hubert Glenn Tippitt of Rector; two daughters, Melba Bilyeu of Warrington, Mo., and Irene Roofe of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Owen Little officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Irby Funeral Service.

Chris Randall Owens

 

Chris Randall Owens, 48, of Holladay, Tenn., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Jackson Madison General Hospital. He was born Nov. 5, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo.

He was a retired carpenter and a devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Owens of Holladay, Tenn.; his mother, Helen Ruth Adams of Paragould; three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Kimberley and Chris Currie of Sarasota, Fla., Amanda Owens of Holladay, Tenn., and Melissa and Houston Sills of Hornbeak, Tenn.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Matthew Owens of Holladay, Tenn., and Chris and Christine Owens of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Freddie Joe Owens of Paragould; two sisters, Linda York of Dapo, Ill., and Janie Owens of Walls, Miss.; three grandchildren, Hunter Owens, Hayley Satterfield and Gypsee McManus, all of Holladay, Tenn.; and his mother and father-in-law, Lowell and Ruby Roberts of Tiline, Ky.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Jan. 3 at the Oakdale Chapel in Camden, Tenn. with Bro. Tommy Oatsvall officiating.
