Brenda Kay Carle



Brenda Kay Carle, 56, of Paragould died Thursday, February 1,
2007, at St Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born July 21, 1950, in Paragould, the daughter of the late Adolphus and Allie Ellenburg Camp.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, A.G. Jr. and Ronnie Camp.

She was a co-owner at Paragould Industrial Cleaning Supply, 1968 graduate of Greene County Tech and member of New Antioch Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Rob; two daughters, Peggy Griggs of Fort Drum, N.Y., and Lizabeth Robinson of Paragould; two sons, Jerry Carle and Robby Carle, both of Paragould; three sisters, Mary Ann Perkins of Oaklawn, Tenn., Jane Huffman and Connie Hinson, both of Paragould; three brothers, Jimmy Camp of North Little Rock, Johnny Camp and Albert Camp, both of Paragould; and 12 grandchildren, Tyler Campbell, Austin Campbell, Breanna Griggs, Catie Griggs, Presley McLain, Jacob Griggs, Macy McLain, Robert "LB" Robinson, Whitney Griggs, Cache Carle, Ashley Robinson and Amber Robinson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening.

Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Larry Ring officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Charlie Bill Headley



Charlie Bill Headley, 82, of Paragould died Thursday, February 1,
2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Nelsonville, the son of the late V.O. and Nancy Jane Nelson Headley. He was a World War II veteran and retired mechanic. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and member of Park View Baptist Church in Batesville.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Ward Headley of the home; three daughters, Audrey Bell Kroneberger of Salina, Kan., Bonnie Bruce of Wichita, Kan., and Janie Falcone of Chicago; one son, Ernie Headley of Batesville; one brother, Gail Headley of Tilton; and three grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Headley, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Wilburn Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Heath Funeral Home.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mildred Bernice Bell

 

Mildred Bernice Bell, 75, of Paragould died Thursday, February 1,
2007, in Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab at Walnut Ridge.

She was born on July 8, 1931, in Arbyrd, Mo. Mrs. Bell was retired from Emerson Electric and attended the 7th & Mueller Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and James Miles of Paragould; one brother, Everett Luther of Walla Walla, Wash.; six sisters, Evelyn Murray of Caruthersville, Mo., Lois Hanson of Paragould, Hazel Crow of Canada, Joyce Oxford of Little Rock, and Jeannie Sisk and Louise Garner, both of Ben Wheeler, Texas; one grandchild, Sha-nanne Callahan; and one great-grandchild, Raylee Callahan.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Birdie Luther; one son, James Bell; two brothers; and two sisters.

A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Lisa Mae Leach




Lisa Mae Leach, 41 of Paragould died Friday, February 2,
2007, at her residence. Mrs. Leach was born on August 5, 1965 in Michigan, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.


Survivors include: her husband: Tony Scott Leach of the home, one son: Anthony Cline of Paragould, one step son: Joshua Scott Leach of Brookland, Arkansas, two brothers: Paul Adams, Jeff Adams both Paragould, two sisters: Frances Bass and Renae Lively both of Paragould, one step grandchild: Hunter Leach.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Baily officiating, burial will follow at the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon Monday until service time.
Pallbearers will include: Mark Holland, Jonathan Adams, Billy Lively, Randy Lively, James Chadwick and Harold Chadwick.

Juanita Johns




Juanita Johns, 85 of Paragould died Sunday, February 04,
2007, at the Greene Acres Nursing Center. She was born on July 19, 1921 in Greene County, Arkansas. Mrs. Johns was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ, a homemaker, she also enjoyed working with flowers and quilting.

 
Survivors include: her husband of 61 years Flavil Johns, four sons and daughters-in-laws: Robert and Patti Johns, Lance and Donna Johns, Brant and Toni Johns and Garth Johns all of Paragould, two brothers: Noel Jetton of Paragould, Jerry Jetton of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, two sisters: Clara Tedder of Paragould, Maria Jetton of Rector, Arkansas, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


Mrs. Johns was preceded in death by: her parents: Robert and Essie Jetton and one grandson: Andy Johns.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Jon C. Binkley officiating, burial will follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. Pallbearers will include her sons and grandsons.

Roy Wiley "R.C." Crossno


Roy Wiley “R.C.” Crossno, 65, died Saturday, February 3,
2007, in Neelyville, Mo. He was born April 5, 1941, the son of the late Wiley and Helen Louise Toler Crossno of Gainesville. He was a used car dealer and of the Methodist belief.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; a stepdaughter, Shiela Wynn of Beebe; a step-granddaughter, Amber Smith, of Beebe; three sons, Rod, Steve, and Jeff Crosno of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Myra and J.T. Wooldridge.

His life will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with the Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Dan Langston, Jerry Don Toler, Bill Reinhart, and Randall Dowler. Coy Cro
ssno and Jim McGee are honorary pallbearers.
There will be no visitation and his family asks that in place of flowers, memorials be made to the charity of the givers choice.

Nora Rippy


Nora Rippy, 98, formerly of Marmaduke, died Saturday, February 3,
2007, at Paragould Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 4, 1909, in Greene County to the late George and Bertha (Rutledge) Moore. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Loatie Dan Rippy; three brothers, Cleatis, Willie and Reedy, and five sisters, Cora, Vinnie, Viola, Dalley and Ruthie.
She worked as a diet maid and was of the Church of Christ faith.


Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Wanda Rippy of Hanford, Calif., and Doyle and Wanda Rippy of Marmaduke; one daughter and son-in-law, Verneda and Herbert Phillips of Paragould; one brother, James Moore of Bakersfield, Calif., and one sister, Lorene Armstrong of Wynne, nine grandchildren, Jim Bob Lentz, Kaylene Brinkley, Steve Rippy, Belinda Rippy, Michael Rippy, Frankie, Lori, Karen and Joanie, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, February 7) at Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke with Scotty Hickson and Randy Brinkley officiating. Burial will be in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bob Lentz, Steve Rippy, Michel Lentz, Herbert Phillips, Berlie Phillips and Kirk Brinkley.

Agnes Harris Walls



Agnes Harris Walls, 77, of Ravenden died Sunday, February 4,
2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 21, 1929, at Cash, AR., to Hewey and Eva Gray.

Mrs. Walls worked at the Fasweet factory and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Walls Jr. of Ravenden; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Tooter Odis Fletcher, Cathy and Kevin Tatum, Nancy Harris and Lynn Smith, all of Jonesboro, Sharon and Eddie Hargraves of Paragould, Lola and Ronald Wagner of Strawberry, Patty and Buck Hill of Ravenden and Debbie and Jackie Kennedy of Vilonia; two brothers, Huley Gray of Jonesboro and Fred Gray of Missouri; stepdaughters, Diane, Lou, Patty and Francis; stepson, Rick; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lola Smith; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Ernest Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Fletcher, Terrell Jennings, Jamie Wagner, Clayton Hill, Greg Jennings and Blake Culbreath.

Honorary pallbearers will include Josh Hill, Keaton Graves, Vernon Tatum and Danny Franks.

James Morgan


James “Turtle” Morgan, 56, of Hayti, Mo., son of Charles and Louise Morgan of Paragould, passed away Monday, February 5,
2007, at the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. Morgan leaves behind his parents; and his wife of 24 years, Rosa “Sissy.” He is also survived by a sister, Debra Frost of Paragould; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joe and Gina Penny of Paragould, Tim and Tricia Bullman of Delton, Fla., and Brian and Christi Carnell of Wardell, Mo.; a son, Ken Grady of Hayti, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jimmy, Jacob, Caleb, Aaron, Brian, Cody and Reed; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at German’s Funeral Home in Hayti. Services will be Thursday, February 8, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hayti.

George Bandy Gramling



George Bandy Gramling, 82, of Paragould, died Wednesday, February 7,
2007, in Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 10, 1924, in Greene County, Mr. Gramling was a retired farmer and a member of Croft Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Gilbert Gramling of the home; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Betty Gramling and Johnny and Merinda Gramling, all of Stanford. He is also survived by two brothers, Marion Gramling and Lindy Gramling; and one sister, Lottie Hooten, all of Paragould; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Gramling was preceded in death by his parents, John Bandy and Myrtle Mangrum Gramling; one son, Charles Wayne Gramling; two daughters, Donna Sue Gramling and Marsha Lynn Lutson; three brothers, William, Robert (Bob) and Lewis Gramling; and by three sisters, Johnnie Lou Norman, Margarette Tatum and Winnie Sue Greenway.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, in Warren's Chapel Cemetery with Sam Stewart officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight in Mitchell Funeral Home.

Gary Lee Christian



Gary Lee Christian, 57, of Corning died Wednesday, February 7,
2007, in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at Paragould.

Gary was born Aug. 13, 1949, the son of William and Francis Christian.

He was a welder. He loved feeding his catfish, fishing, working in his garden and running his dog Oscar around the farm.

Survivors include six sons, Johnny Christian of Rockford, Tony Knowlton, Bentley Knowlton and William Christian, all of Paragould, and Kurt Christian and Travis Christian, both of Dyer; six daughters, Shonette Decker, Autumn Christian and Toya Christian, all of Fort Smith, Kerrie Plummer of Spiro, Okla., and Vicki Christian and Shelly Christian, both of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Treena Riley of Louisville, Ky., and Sharon Campbell of Corning; one brother, Jerry Harris of Corning; one brother-in-law, Gary Wilson of Corning; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Francis Christian; one sister, Rose Mary Wilson; and one brother-in-law, Sammy Campbell.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in Ermert Funeral Home at Corning.

Services will be conducted Saturday, February 10, at 2 p.m. in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Corning Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home.

Mary E. Hill Ussery



Mary E. Hill Ussery, 63, of Jonesboro died Thursday, February 8,
2007, in St. Bernards Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 2, 1944, in Paragould, the daughter of Ernest E. and Dora Graves Hill.

She was employed with Emerson Electric Manufacturing in Paragould for 22 years and was one of the founders of the Oak Grove Fire Department. Mary was a member of Strawfloor Baptist Church and a former member of Unity Baptist Church.

Her parents preceded her in death along with a half-brother, Jim Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Moore of Jonesboro and Kellie Letbetter of Memphis, and one half-brother, Darrell Jones of Caruthersville, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Don Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8:30 at Heath Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Fire Department or American Cancer Society.

Virginia Pearl Collins



Mrs. Virginia Pearl Collins, 85, daughter of the late Amos and Nora Mast, was born May 10, 1921, in Lincoln, Neb. She passed away Thursday,
February 8,
2007, in Paragould.

She married Arthur W. Collins on March 2, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1994.

She is also preceded in death by her sister, June Mast; brother, James Mast; and two daughters, Marylin A. Bradley and Carolyn Carlyle.

She is survived by two sisters, Faye E. Carlson of Florida and Betty Sutfin of Arkansas; one brother, Owen Mast; six children, Bonnie Carlyle of Niles, Mich., Arthur Collins of Stafford, Texas, Connie Venema of Paragould, Donna Thornton of Cullman, Ala., Dorothy Alverson of Guntersville, Ala., and David Collins of Paragould; by 29 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. in Phillips Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Phillips Funeral Home Center Hill Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Log Cemetery at Brookland.

Catherine Robbie Landrum



Catherine Robbie Lee Landrum, 79, of Paragould, died February 9,
2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born June 23, 1927 in Brilliant, Alabama, she was a homemaker and a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.


She is survived by her husband, David Landrum of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Carolyn Landrum of Greenway, Arkansas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Ronny Ashbrooks of Memphis, Diann and Greg Walker of Paragould, and Renea and Tim Sain of Collerville, Tennessee; four brothers, Cecil Corkren of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Harold Corkren of Winfield, Alabama, Horace Corkren of Haleyville, Alabama, and Robert Corkren of North Port, Alabama; eight grandchildren and spouces, Amber and David Powell, Josh and Jasmine Walker, Adam and Ollie Landrum, Amy and Daniel Wilkerson, Daniel and Courtney Landrum, Laura Anne Ashbrooks, Evan Landrum, and Logan Landrum; one great grandchild, Kaydy Powell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carvas and Arilla Corkren; two brothers, Taft and Robert Corkren, and one sister, Lucille Hewitt.


Funeral services will be Monday, February 12, 10:30 A. M. at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ with Art Smith, Mike Farrar, and Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery under direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Tammy Lynn Hill, 44, of Rector died Friday,
February 9,
2007, at her home.
Born Nov. 3, 1962, in Paragould, she was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donnie "Red" Greenway.


Survivors include her parents, Clay and Anna Belle (Copeland) Robinson; one son, Grady Robinson of Rector; one daughter, Ashlyn Hill of Rector; one brother, Donnie Greenway of Corning; her grandmother, Hoover Copeland Dale, and one granddaughter, Grason Clay Robinson of Rector.


Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday,
February 10, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Dwight Harrison officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Grady Robinson, Seth Copeland, Josh Copeland, Charlie Holman, Allan Branson, Adam Branson, Michael Branson, Trent Payne and Josh Akes.

Audry Louise Winn



Audry Louise Winn, 82, of Paragould, died February 10,
2007, at her home. Born November 25, 1924 in Greene County, she was a homemaker and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Randy Lynn Winn of Indianapolis, and Lance Robin Winn of Paragould; two daughters, Angella Eve Griffin and Debra Janis Walker both of Paragould; one brother, Buford Adams of Paragould; one sister, Mildred Lawrence of Schugtown; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse L. and Rachel Adams, and by her husband, Rual E. Winn.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 12, 2:00 P. M. at the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel with Revs. Royce Boling and Billy Joe Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Loren Dean Straub

 

Loren Dean Straub, of Southaven, MS., 63, died Saturday,
February 10,
2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis of a rare lung disease.

Dean was a born-again Christian and was retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor and switchman.

He leaves his wife of almost 46 years, Sandra Straub of Southaven; four brothers, Joe Straub, Connie Ray Straub and Mike Straub, all of Paragould and Jerry Stairs of Lebanon, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman E. and Estalee Marie Liddell Straub.

The family will receive friends this evening at Heath Funeral Home from 6-8.

His life will be celebrated Wednesday at

10 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Laramie LeQue and the Rev. Conway Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery at Lafe.

Pallbearers are his close friends from his railroad work -- Joe Odom, Marcel Rouse, Frank Rouse, Jimmie Rouse, David Sefers, Stee Evans, Randy Smith and Steve Gatlin.

Memorials may be sent to a lung research laboratory.

James Austin Ray




James Austin Ray 82 of Rector, AR died Saturday,
February 10,
2007, At the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. He was born to Henry and Sadie Marie Ray on October 6, 1924 In Black Oak, AR. Mr. Ray farmed in his early years and later moved to Michigan in the 1940’s. He worked as a freight manager. He was a WW II veteran.
He is survived by: his wife, Chalmus Ray of Michigan. 3 sons and dau in laws: Conley and Neva Ray of New Boston, Michigan. Tommy and Patricia Ray of South Lion, Michigan, and Stanley and Lois Ray of Melvindale, Michigan. 8 grandchildren and 9 gr. grandchildren.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday,
February 13, 2007, at 10:00 AM at the White Oak Church near Rector, Bro Ronnie Stevens officiating and burial will follow in the Reddick Cemetery.

Norma Leona Forristal



Norma Leona Forristal, 101,
was born in Success, August 2, 1905, daughter of the late Calvin Sylvestoer and Octavia Leuticia Wells Stackhouse, died Saturday, February, 10, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Alexander Forristal, parents and siblings.

Survivors are her children, Ellen Williams and Dorothy Kolb and Margaret Ward, both of Paragould; Charles Edward Forristal, Lawrence William Forristal, and Henry Sylvester Forristal; and
13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bill Snow officiating. Burial in Gainesville Cemetery
Visitation will be from 6-8 Wednesday night at Heath Funeral Home.

Otis E. V. Ellison



Otis E. V. Ellison 71, went to be with his Lord on Sunday,
February 11,
2007.

He was born in Mena to Fred and Verda Ellison on March 4, 1935.

Mr. Ellison worked for Farm Bureau Insurance in Dumas as an agent from 1960-70. He moved to Paragould in 1970 as the Greene County agency manager for Farm Bureau Insurance. He became a certified life underwriter, obtained the LUTCF designation and served as the Arkansas State LUPAC chairman. He retired in 1997.

A long list of business and civic activities included serving in the National Guard for 12 years; Dumas Jaycees for 12 years, and also serving as president; a Boy Scout scoutmaster and Scout Explorer leader for 10 years; a high school football official for 25 years; president of the Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs in Paragould for two years each; member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher and president of brotherhood and as a Gideon and deacon.

He was a member of the Paragould Chamber of Commerce and member of the Hogwild Razorback Club.

Mr. Ellison was a founding partner of Little Rock-based Electronic Imaging Services Inc., now known as Vestcom International Inc. In addition, Mr. Ellison was an honorary member of and chaplain for the United States Army 30th Field Artillery Regiment, The Hard Chargers, based in Fort Sill, Okla.

Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by his son, Mark Alan Ellison, and granddaughter, Sarah Ashley Ellison.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ruth Ellison; one daughter, Christie Ellison Bardwell, and her husband Steve; two grandchildren, Jeffery "Sky" Morris and Mark Christopher Ellison all of Little Rock.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 120 North Third, Paragould 72450, with the Rev. Bill Steeger officiating.

No visitation is planned. Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Orbe Strange


Orbe Strange, Corning, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. He was 75.
A retired U.S. Army soldier and of the Baptist faith, he was born in Pocahontas on March 19, 1931 to Jess and Pearl Arthur Strange. He married Bertha May Sells Strange on Jan. 1, 1980 and she survives.
Funeral services Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Richwoods Cemetery, Corning, under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. Pocahontas VFW conducted Military Honor Guard during the burial service.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one sister, Lucille Teel, Pocahontas; step-mother, Alice Strange, Pocahontas; a half brother, Tommy Strange, Neelyville; a grandson Allen Ray Sells, Corning and a step-son, Gary Allen Sells, O'Kean.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Dorothy May Cole



Dorothy May Cole, 82, of Paragould went to be with her Lord, Monday,
February 12,
2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Cole was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Mogadore, Ohio, to Fred and Alice Skaburn Moore. Before beginning her career as a teacher, she worked as a secretary. A graduate of Arkansas State University, she retired from teaching at Cardwell, Mo. After retirement she worked at the McDonald's in Wal-Mart. She was a member of Rock Springs Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for many years.

Mrs. Cole loved to play the piano and listen to her piano rolls. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, bingo and taking road trips to visit her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Georgia Cole of Paragould, Rickey and Patricia Cole of Monroe, Ga., Neal and Deborah Cole of Paragould; and a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Richard Berg of Marshfield, Wis. She is also survived by one brother, James Moore of Trenton, N.J.; two sisters, Thelma Chapman of Mogadore, Ohio, and Marilyn Cleveland of Valley City, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and by one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Ras Cole; her parents; one brother, Richard Moore; and by one sister, Helen Stanfield.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Massey officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Stanley Carmack, Dwayne Frakes, Steve Smoker, Roger Slayton, Jack Howe and Jimmy Upton will serve as pallbearers.

Vernon 'Doc' L. Williams



Vernon "Doc" L. Williams, 88, Paragould died Monday,
February 12,
2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born August 2, 1918, in Dunklin County, Mo., the son of the late John Franklin and Hattie Burgess Williams. He was a World War II veteran who received a Bronze Star and was retired from McDonald Douglas Aircraft.

Survivors include his wife, Alvena Williams of Paragould; two sons; one daughter; five grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Heath Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in LuLu Cemetery, Hollywood, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home.

Austin Clark, 69, of Paragould died Monday, February 12,
2007, at his home in Paragould.

Bruce Allen Eakins, 43, of Marmaduke died Tuesday,
February 13, 2007, at Paragould.

He was born Aug. 10, 1963, at Louisville, Ky., the son of Inez Eakins and the late Willard Seamore Eakins.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Eakins; mother, Inez Eakins; brothers, Larry Eakins, Melvin Eakins and Phillip Eakins; and sisters, Linda Campbell, Barbara Bonner and Diane Potter.

Visitation will be Friday from noon until service time at 2 p.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery at Lafe.

Don Cecil Hooker passed from this life Wednesday,
February 14, 2007, in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at the age of 71 years.

He was retired from Emerson Electric in Paragould. He was of Baptist belief.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver C. Hooker and Pearl Ellis Hooker; a sister, Martha Jean Hooker; and son, Johnny Wayne Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Lou Vangilder Hooker; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Tim McClish; one son, David Hooker; one daughter-in-law, Earline Johnson; three grandchildren, Cindy Friar (Matt), Joshua Hooker (Patty) and Brittany Hooker; four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cheyenne Friar and Jake and J.R. Hooker; four brothers, Charles "Ludy" Hooker (Clara), of Camden, Tommy Hooker (Betty) of Marked Tree, Russell Hooker (Eva) of Harrisburg and Richard Hooker (Tami) of Marked Tree; three sisters, Wanda Bixler of Little Rock, Doris Pitts (Wayne) of Marked Tree, Mary Feathers of Lepanto; one sister-in-law, Faye DePriest; and several nieces and nephews.

Hallie B. Miller



Hallie B. Miller, 76, of Paragould died Wednesday,
February 14, 2007, at her residence.

She was born October 31, 1930 in Memphis and was raised around the Dixie and Brookland areas. She lived in Jonesboro for many years before retiring to the country. She retired from General Electric and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, J.T. Miller of the home; three stepsons, Tom Miller of Millington, Tenn., Don Miller of Dallas and Duane Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Raymond Lowery of Jonesboro and Bob Lowery of Walnut Ridge; one sister, Lucille Jones of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Bessie Lowery; three brothers; and three sisters.

George Mosby, 73, of rural Paragould died Thursday,
February 15, 2007, at his home of natural causes.

Born August 1, 1933 in Cash, George has lived near Paragould for 31 years. He was a retired brick mason and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mosby; a daughter, Donna Sue Sarrels; and a brother, James Mosby.

Montie Clayton Bowen



Montie Clayton Bowen, 87, of Piggott, formerly of Paragould, died Friday,
February 16, 2007, in Murphy Health and Rehab Center of Piggott.

Born in Heber Springs, he was the son of the late Mont and Cora Pruitt Bowen and had been a longtime resident of the Nimmons Community before making his home in Paragould. He was retired from the Whirlpool Corporation in LaPort, Ind., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and attended the Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Effie Hopper Bowen, in 1999; and one son, Johnnie Bowen, in 1994.

Survivors include his son, Montie Bowen Jr. of LaPort; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville. The family will receive visitors Monday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery.

James T. Weatherford, 92, of Rector died Monday,
February 19, 2007, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
A retired maintenance worker, he was born
February 1, 1915, in Greene County to the late Arville and Rosie (Wilson) Weatherford and was married July 5, 1946, in Paragould to Dortha Beaton Weatherford. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled Veterans. He was of the Assembly of God faith.


Survivors include his wife, Dorotha Beaton Weatherford of Rector; one son, Terry Weatherford of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Patricia Weatherford of Farmington, Mo.; one grandson, Jason Weatherford of Marmaduke, and two great-grandchildren, Scout and Sophie.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday,
February 21) at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bennie Isom and Tommy Newman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

2007, in Lakeside Nursing Home in Lake City.

Lorene Lennox, 86 of Paragould, went to be with her Lord on February 21,
2007.

Born June 3, 1920, in Haskell, Oklahoma, Mrs. Lennox was a homemaker, and a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Dr. Lowell Hardcastle of Paragould, and June and Dave Brown of Xenia, Ohio. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kevin Hardcastle of Paragould, Dr. Michael and Angie Hardcastle of Dallas, Texas, Lynette and Lonnie Gibson, Jr. of Arbyrd, Missouri, Leanna and Jason Hamilton of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa Erickson Hale and Paul F. Erickson, both of Springfield, Ohio; twelve great grandchildren, Julia and Jenna Gibson, Porter and Payton Hardcastle, Katelin and Abby Hamilton, Michael Madelena, Brittany Erickson, Jesse and Jordan Zook, Glen Hale, Jr., and Elizabeth Erickson; and by one great great grandchild, Camden. Mrs. Lennox was a foster grandmother to the 13 foster children of Elaine and Dr. Lowell Hardcastle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lennox; her parents, Will and Dela Hensley; four sisters; and one brother.

2007, at Paragould Nursing Center. Born February 8, 1913, in Cardwell, she was a homemaker and a member of the Paragould Christian Church.

 
Survivors include one son, Dennis Hyde of Paragould; two daughters, Joan Mathews of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Brenda Sonney of Paragould. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Stearns of Hazelwood, Missouri, and Lorene Tiemann of Ocala, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and by four great great grandchildren.


Mrs. Hyde was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Hyde; two sons, Edward Hyde, and Jerry Dale Hyde; one daughter, Virginia Louise Hyde; one brother, Harmon Smith; and by one sister, Mable Harper.

Willie Stanford Dollars, 88, of Paragould, died February 24,
2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born May 10, 1918 at Bono, Arkansas, he was retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan, was an Army veteran of WWII, and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Bessie Evelyn Highley, 92 of Corning, died on February 26,
2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born on March 14, 1914 to Clark and Ada Vinson.
Mrs. Highley was retired from Caterpillar, and was of the Pentecostal Faith.


Survivors include two sons and daughter in law: Charles C. Highley of Corning, and Ira Jr and wife Carroll Highly of Delaware. One daughter: Mary Wilma Barker of Corning. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Allen Brasher, Sr., and Ida Lauchstaedt Brasher; and by one brother, Robert Allen Brasher, Jr.


Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M., Friday, March 2nd, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lafe, with Curt Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00-8:00 P. M. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Her nephews, Greg Brasher, Blake Brasher, Philip Brasher, Chris Brasher, Bert Dowler, David Dowler, and Larry Willis will serve as pallbearers.

Deamon Raphiel Bailey



Deamon Raphiel Charles Bailey, 18 months old, of Paragould, died Monday, February 26,
2007. He was born September 26, 2005, in Kennett.
Survivors include his father, Ron Bailey; his mother, Lessie Simpson, both of Paragould; his grandparents, Peggy Simpson, Danny Simpson, and Tommy Seymore, all of Paragould, and Ronnie and Phoebie Bailey of Bronte, Texas. He is also survived by great grandparents, Frances Davis of Paragould, Vaughn Bailey of Dinosaur, Colorado; and by his great great grandmother, Viola Toombs of Paragould.


Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 3rd, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Dave Stallings officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 6:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Mitchell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Delbert Cochran and Keith Roberts.

Verdie Marie Sanders



Verdie Marie Sanders, 86, of Paragould, died Tuesday, February 27,
2007, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Mrs. Sanders was born September 11, 1920, in Sylamore, Arkansas. She was retired from the Brach & Sons Company in Chicago, Illinois and was a member of the New Covenant Worship Center.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Harry Sanders, Sr. of the home; one son, Thomas Harry Sanders, Jr. of the home; three daughters and son-in-laws, Shirley and Darrell Taylor of Milton, West Virginia, Gail and Dwayne Fowler of Paragould, Patricia and Walter Kieras of Crest Hill, Illinois She is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.


Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Bulla officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Log Cemetery, Brookland, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
