Margaret P. Moyers



Margaret Puryear Moyers, 92, was born August 22, 1917, in Paragould, Arkansas and passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2010, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was the daughter of Neil and Myrtle Puryear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Moyers; her parents; and grandson, John Scott Portera.

Margaret is survived by daughters, Ann M. Syfert and Mary Scott Ellis; grandchildren, Mary Margaret Phillips and Michael B. Phillips; great-grandchildren, Maya Phillips and Dominic Joseph Scott Rossi; and brothers, Neil Puryear and George Puryear.

Services were held at Las Ventanas retirement community in Las Vegas June 9th.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 7811 Vegas Drive, Las Vegas 89128.

Mary Veona Stone




Mary Veona Byrd Stone, 90 of Paragould passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Greene Acres Nursing Home, Paragould. She was born October 28, 1919 in Alcorn County, Mississippi the daughter of the late Mack and Francis Strickland Byrd. Mary was retired from Belks as a buyer in the Children’s Department, owned and operated Don and David Children’s Shop for many years and was of the Full Gospel belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ceral Stone, an infant son, a son, Joe David Stone, her parents, sisters, Leoma Smith and Vastie Baker; brothers Edgar and Arlin Byrd; grandson, David Keith Stone and great grandson, Andrew Wayne Mitchell, son-in-law, Sunny Vincent.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Virginia Vincent of Crystal City, MO and Ella and Wayne Wilkins of Paragould; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Brenda Stone of Lafe; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, June 4th, at 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Cheryl Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, David Wilkins, Bret Vincent, Tyler Trivitt, Blake Jones, Dale Mitchell and John Glaser. Honorary pallbearers Mark Withers, Tony Withers and Randy Martin. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Maurice Hays Hurd



Maurice Hays Hurd passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was a lifetime resident of Paragould, born October 31, 1926, and a 1944 graduate of Paragould High School.

Mr. Hurd was an original member of the Church of Christ at 7th and Mueller and was a minister for Churches of Christ in the surrounding area for 40 years. He was also a builder, but was a farmer at heart. He planted an apple and peach orchard and also raised corn and peas after retiring from 25 years at Life and Casualty Insurance Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Tyner and John W. “Buck” Hurd; one son, David Hays Hurd; and one brother, Harlan Hurd.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eula Sanders Hurd of the home; one son, Timothy D. Hurd of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Lane E. Mills of Manhattan, Kansas, and Cora and Danny M. West of Walnut Ridge. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hurd of Searcy; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ, Friday, June 4th 1:00 p.m. with Larry McFadden and Michael Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 7th and Mueller, Friday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.

Shawn Andrew Watson



Shawn Andrew Watson, 24, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

He was born February 18, 1986 in Paragould. Shawn was a 2004 graduate of Greene County Tech and also attended ASU Tech College for two years with a degree in Auto Body. He worked for Richard Baughn Construction Company. He was of the Baptist belief and enjoyed hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling.

Survivors include his parents, Randy and Angela Watson; two brothers, Blake Watson of Arvada, CO and Ben Watson of Jonesboro; his grandparents, Joe Watson of Jonesboro and Dean and Ruth Ann Pollock of Walcott; uncles and aunts, Belinda Crawford of Walcott, Phillip and Tracy Pollack of Jonesboro, Sarah Young of Hornersville, Tim and Jennifer Pollack of Paragould and Kathy and Rob Franks of Bono and ten cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Velda Watson.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 2.00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Walcott with Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Walcott.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are T. J. Wicker, Chad Crawford, Nathan Crawford, Michael Stewart, Will Tarry, Todd Myrick, Bryan Beck and B. J. Lindsey.

William A. Biggs

 


William A. Biggs, 87, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1922 at Senath, Missouri.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy R. Patton and husband Stan of O'Fallon, Missouri and by his son, William R. Biggs and wife Carolyn of Jonesboro; six grandchildren: Cari McKnight and husband Jason, Stephen Patton and wife Sunshine, Kristen Archer and husband Sam, Jessica Patton, Andrew Biggs and wife Jessica, and Elizabeth Biggs; four great grandchildren: Lily McKnight, Helen McKnight, Julianna Patton and Toryn Patton. His friend, Betty M. Paskel of Paragould also survives him as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Biggs; his parents, William A. and Rena Biggs; brother, Seward Biggs; sisters, Marie Eubanks and Rosealynd Ragsdell. He was a Christian and an active member of New Haven Baptist Church. He had been an ordained deacon for more than 50 years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Air Force stationed in England. He worked in the tooling division for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri for 33 years and retired in 1985. He was a great husband; father; grandfather and friend.
Visitation will be Sunday June 6th, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services immediately following at New Friendship cemetery. Brother Ric Keefer will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Rouse, Andrew Biggs, Stephen Patton, Sam Archer, Ron Hardin and Sonny Brown. Imogene Pearl Pillow, 87 of Paragould passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Imogene was born April 1, 1923. She was a homemaker and a member of the Brighton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Addison "C.A." Pillow; parents, Hershel and Ollie Hopper Keelor; son, Kenneth Pillow; four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Bobby and Judy Pillow, Marline and Carol Pillow and Clifton Pillow all of Paragould, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, June 7th, 10:00 until11:30 a.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Monday afternoon at 12:00 noon at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Heath Vines Officiating.

Larry J. Ayers
 


Larry J. Ayers, 67, of Somerville, Texas, formerly of Florence, Texas, passed away suddenly Friday, June 4, 2010 in Caldwell, Texas.

He was born November 29, 1942, in Paragould, the son of Chris Ray Ayers and Juanita Nooner. He served his country in the United States Army as a private. He was a loving husband, father and a disciple of Jesus Christ. He also served Christ as an ordained minister.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Sue Ayers of Somerville, Texas; son, Kevin Jay Ayes and wife, Stephanie, of Somerville, Texas; two daughters, Evon Jennette Baran and husband, Allen, of Georgetown, Texas, and Angela Lynn Malensky and husband, Steve, of Florence, Texas; seven grandchildren, Adam, Uriyah, Dylan, Devon, Stevie, Isabella and Katie; three sisters, Betty Wynelle Lovelady of Florissant, Mo., Patsy Ruth Smothers of Paragould and Wilma Sue Uttley of Kaufman, Texas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to David Lawrence Missions thru Cornerstone Memorial at Bank of America.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 11th, at The Community Chapel in Lyons, Texas, with Rev. Dan Davis officiating. The family will receive guests Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas.

Leona Marie Holcomb

 


Leona Marie Holcomb, 86, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at The Woods of Monticello in Monticello. She was born February 4, 1924 in Greene County, a daughter of Roy Hooker and Gertie Hooker Dowler.
Among family and friends preceding her in death was her husband of 60 years, James Holcomb, and a beloved grandson, Shane Holcomb.

Survivors include her children, Eddie and Judith Holcomb of White Hall, Jim and Kathy Holcomb and John and Janet Holcomb of Jonesboro, Ted and Dawn McMurry of Michigan, Karen and Van Brown of Monticello, Joanne and Walter Smith of Michigan, Paulette Holcomb of Washington; one sister, Dorothy Barber of Michigan; two brothers, Galen Dowler of Michigan and Gordon Dowler of Paragould; twelve grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; Charles and Gretta Holcomb, Bonnie Thornton and a host of friends. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 5th, 4:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Reverend Charles Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday for family and friends.

P.T. Meredith, 88 of Delaplaine passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. P.T. was a farmer in the Delaplaine community.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Fayetta Collins Meredith; parents, Plummer and Emiline Edwards Meredith; daughter, Nancy Sue Meredith; sisters, Maude Stevens, Caroline McKillips, Orah McElhaney; brother, James Willie Meredith.
Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, Eddie Joe and Shirley Meredith of Delaplaine; grandson, Scott Meredith, granddaughter, Vickie Smith and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 9th, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Adam Bruton officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mable Lee Hatfield

 



Mable Lee Hatfield, 87, of Walnut Ridge passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Healthcare Center in Batesville.
She was born February 15, 1923 in Light, AR to the late Arthur and Ida Wright Crossen. She married Gus Hatfield on August 5, 1939. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by three children, Shirley Ray Hatfield, Gussie Dean Hatfield, and Patsy Blackshear; three sisters, Hermie Sawyer, Lavada Peppers, and Marie McCage.

She is survived by seven children, James Hatfield of Batesville, Bill Hatfield & Lorena of Hoxie, Peggy Hinshaw & Bob of Ravenden, Kay Thorsby & Bill of Louisville, KY, Jeri Davidson & Jack of Swifton, Sharon Barnhill & Gary of Portia, and Bob Hatfield & Vicki of Batesville. Sixteen grandchildren, Tammy Reeves, Kim Adams, Julie Westbrook, Mark Hatfield, Lanna Bradford, Greg Blackshear, Shelley Robertson, Stacey Blackshear, Katie Thorsby, Amie Ledman, Cody Davidson, Brent Hufstedler, Ashley Clements, Bobby Hatfield, Jr., Christina Hatfield, and Robert Hatfield, twenty four great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also mourn her passing.

Matthew Christopher Steele
 


Matthew Christopher Steele, 31, of Trumann, AR passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his home.
He was born January 25, 1979 in Paragould. He was a 1997 graduate of Trumann High School, where he was a standout football player for the Trumann Wildcats and a graduate of ASU Technical College at Marked Tree. Matt served with the Arkansas National Guard Engineering Battalion at Paragould and worked at Bilco in Trumann. Matt was a devoted father, weight lifting enthusiast and an animal lover. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Trumann.

Matt is survived by his companion, Ashley Wright; his son, Cayden Steele both of the home; his parents, Jim Steele of Monette and Cindy and Steve Baldridge of Leachville; his grandmother, Virginia Miller of Monette; three brothers, David Steele and wife Crystal of Monette, Scott Steele of Little Rock and Joe Steele of Jonesboro; a sister, Stephanie Baldridge of Leachville; a nephew, Evan Steele of Monette; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, J.D. and Mildred Steele and Robert “Bob” Miller.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday, June 11th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Harp and Dustin Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Clyde D. Williams

 

Clyde D. Williams, 86, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Sunday, June 6, 2010 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1923 in Marmaduke, AR. to the late William Jennings and Lola Bell Campbell Williams.

Mr. Williams was retired from Carmel’s TV and Appliances and was a member of the Greensboro Road Church of Christ. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the HQ Company 2nd Battalion, 377th Infantry, 95th Division. He received medals and decorations such as the Combat Infantry, the Army of Occupation, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the American Campaign and the Good Conduct medal. He loved to study the Bible, read about electronics, science and the world abroad. Clyde also loved to invent, repair and build things. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clyde Wayne Williams; five sisters and one brother.

Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Miller Williams; two daughters, Reba J Dye and her husband David, and Kathy Williams of Jonesboro; a granddaughter, Angela Marie Williams; a brother, Almon Williams and his wife Belva, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 12:00 until1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 10th, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the chapel service beginning at 1:00 pm with Bill Willard officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Bill Workman, Terry Joe Kee, Bill Berry, Bill Baker, Steve Stoker and David Dye.

Gerald Newberry



Gerald Newberry, 69, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010. He was born June 4, 1941, in Heber Springs. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Mae Ollie Newberry; one brother, J.R. Newberry.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Newberry; one son, Garry (Sharon ); two daughters, Charlotte (Ray) Ashcraft, Sheila Newberry, all of Paragould; one brother, Darrell (Judy) Newberry; three sisters, Lavada (Bill) Kincaid, Laverne (Paul) Yates and Darlene Fahs, all of North Little Rock; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason McClelland and Joshua Ashcraft.

Ruby Evelyn Boyd
 



Ruby Evelyn Boyd, 87, of Paragould, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Ruby was born August 19, 1922. She was retired from Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and a charter member of West View Baptist Church.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Mary Evans; daughter, Freda Boyd; grandson, Jason Boyd; brother, Glen Evans; and sisters, Marie Bateman and Reva Beeler.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Leo Boyd of Paragould; sons, Jim Boyd (Diane) of Cullman, Alabama, Harold Boyd (Sandi); and Kendall Boyd of Paragould; daughters, Joy Cunningham (Jim) of Newark, Arkansas and Diane Acuff (Jay) of Paragould; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Paul Evans; and sisters, Rena Snow and Frances Rogers.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June11th 10:00 am at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home.

Betty Sue Manning

 


Betty Sue Manning, age 74, of Rector, passed from this life June 8, 2010, in the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Betty was born December 29, 1935, in Rector, to the late Sam and Lois Jenkins.
She was a member of the Rector First Baptist Church and had been a beautician before retiring.

She was united in marriage to Troy Manning on March 20, 1954.

In addition to her parents, Sam and Lois Jenkins, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Karen Capraro on June 12, 2006 and a brother, Jim Jenkins.

She is survived by: her husband, Troy Manning of the home: a son, Rick Manning of Rector: four grandchildren, Jim and Billy Hawkinson of St. Charles County, Missouri, Sam Manning and Melinda Stookey of St. Charles County, Missouri: three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Evan Hawkinson of St. Charles County, Missouri and Eli Manning of St. Charles County, Missouri. A host of other relatives and friends mourn her passing.

Graveside funeral services will be Sunday, June 13th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Woodland Heights Cemetery with Ken Roden officiating.

David Cornelius Landrum
 


David Cornelius Landrum, 86, of Paragould, passed away June 10, 2010, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. He was born in Greenway, Arkansas, November 7, 1923, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children, one son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Carolyn Landrum of Greenway, Arkansas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Ronny Ashbrooks of Memphis, Tennessee, Diann and Greg Walker of Paragould and Renea and Tim Sain of Collierville, Tennessee; three sisters, Lula Coil of Rogers, Arkansas, Anna Beard of Clarkston, Georgia and Halla B. Roden of Campbell, Missouri; eight grandchildren and spouses, Amber Powell, Josh and Jasmine Walker, Adam and Ollie Landrum, Amy and Daniel Wilkerson, Daniel and Courtney Landrum, Laura Anne Ashbrooks, Evan and Andy Neeley and Logan Landrum; two great granddaughters, Kaydy Powell and Vivian Landrum.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Lee Landrum; his parents, Sam and May Landrum; two brothers, Porter Landrum and Victor Landrum; and two half-sisters, Elgie Tucker and Flora Lack.

Pallbearers will be Josh Walker, Adam Landrum, Daniel Landrum, Logan Landrum, Andy Neeley, Daniel Wilkerson and David Powell.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. at Center Hill Church of Christ with Art Smith, Michael Cox and Jon Binkley officiating. Peter Silas Black, Jr.

 

Peter Silas “Pete” Black, Jr., of Paragould, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was born November 21, 1920, in Paragould, and served with the Marines in World War II. Mr. Black was a farmer and cotton ginner and of the Baptist faith. He served on the St. Francis Drainage District Board, was a former president of the Paragould District School Board, and former president of Paragould Country Club. He was an inactive Rotarian, avid golfer and fisherman.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Gary Black and wife, Ann, and Pete Black III and wife, Linda, all of Paragould. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Rhea Middleton, Dawn Hook, Sally Black and Sonni Black; two great grandchildren, Lindsay and Lauren Middleton; and by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Rose Ann Black; his wife, Maxine; one brother, William A. Holmes, Sr.; and three sisters, Dorothy Pigue, Daisy Thomas, and Gladys McNeil.

Visitation will be Sunday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 14th, 11:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Clyde Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Roy McSpadden, Roland Rogers, James Thomas, Merrill Griffin, Jay Dollins and Bill Holmes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Samuel, Roger Reddick, Jack Shearer, Leroy Potter, Carl Thurmond, Sonny Hampton and members of the Twenty-one Club will be honorary pallbearers.

Sally Ann Vaughn
 


Sally Ann Vaughan, 37 of Lafe passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. Sally was born October 19, 1972. She was an employee of World Color in Jonesboro and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Lamar Burge.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Vaughan of the home; daughter, Katie Vaughan of Lafe; father and stepmother, Basil and Carol Burge of Lafe; brothers, Michael Burge of Marmaduke, Basil Burge III of Lafe and John Burge of Little Rock; sister, Lorri Vails of Marmaduke.

Visitation will be Monday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 15th, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Ramer’s Chapel Cemetery.

Viva Hester Clark
 


Viva Hester Clark, 88, of Beech Grove, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010, at her residence.

Born October 12, 1921, in Stanford, Mrs. Clark retired from Ely Walker Shirt Factory and was a farmer. She was a member of Pine Knott Church of Christ.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Darla George of Honeydew, California, Jon (Jacenda) Clark and Tim (Karrie) Clark, all of Beech Grove; and four great grandchildren, Logan, Patrick, John and Crowley Dean Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVoy and Bula Merts; her husband, Crowley Clark; and one son, Phillip Dean Clark.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 16th, 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Swindle officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Knott Cemetery.

Farron Toler, Frankie Don Pillow, Darrell Pillow, Stacey Rice, Danny Rice, and Todd Blankenship will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Shipman and Tommy Myrick.

Thomas Lemual Jenkins
 


Thomas Lemual “T. L.” Jenkins, age 84, of Paragould, formerly of Marmaduke, went to be with his Heavenly Father June 12, 2010, in the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Jenkins was born May 3, 1926, in Greene County, to the late William Cullie and Lillie Belle (Vangilder) Jenkins. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Marmaduke First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, William Verlon Jenkins: three sisters, Verdie Bradley, Versa Blind, and Juanita Watson.

Survivors include: his wife of sixty-six years, Norma Dean (Woodward) Jenkins of the home: a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Earline Jenkins of Paragould: three daughters and a son-in-law, Marian Dean Gonnsen of Baldwin, Missouri, Brenda Kay Jenkins of Kennett, Missouri and Karen and Terry Lenderman of Paragould: six grandchildren, Angie, Jeff, Cary, Eric, Amber, and Thomas: seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 15th, at 2:00 p.m., in the Marmaduke First United Methodist Church with Pastor Lynn McClure officiating. Interment will be in the Woodland Heights Cemetery with Irby Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday evening, June 14th, 6:00 until 8:00 in the Irby funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke.

Herschel Noland Wright, Sr.
 


Herschel Noland Wright, Sr., 63 of Marmaduke passed away June 12, 2010 at his residence.

He was born February 7, 1947 to the late Raymond and Nettie Mae (Pratte) Wright in St. Louis. He was married in 1965 to Linda Haynes. He worked for Greene County as a road grader for many years.

In addition to his parents, Herschel was preceded in death by a daughter: Tammy Wright and a grandchild: Linda Mae Wright.

He is survived by his wife: Linda of Marmaduke, two sons: Herschel Nolan and Tracey Wright, Jr. of Arbyrd, Missouri and David Wright of Kennett. One daughter: Katherine and Clifford Crowe of Marmaduke, grandchildren: Noland, Chris, William, Sue Ann, Jonathon, James, Ashley, Tiffany, David, Jeremy, Amber, thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother: Robert Wright of Ft. Worth, Texas, two sisters: Ruby Phifer and Glenda Nichols of Fort Worth along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke with Brother Kim Bridges officiating.
Visitation will be at 4:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., prior to services.

Rachel Lawanda Forman
 


Rachel Lawanda Formon, 74, of Paragould passed away June 13, 2010 at the Advanced Care Hospital of White County. She was born October 28, 1935 in Leachville. She was of Baptist faith and loved by her children very much.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Marion and Audie Davis.

She is survived by two son and a daughter-in-law, Rayburn and Becky Formon of Paragould and Warren Formon of Milwaukee, WI.; one daughter, and son-in-law Julia and Kent Hampton of Paragould; step-mother, Lorene Davis; seven brothers, Calvin, Jerry, Danny, Melvin, Allen, Jack, and Myron Davis; three sisters, Elsie Mather, Evelyn Bowman and Bonnie Fava; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 16th, 6:00 until 8:00 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 17th, 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Rayburn Formon officiating. There will be an interpreter at the service. Burial will follow at Cardwell Cemetery.

Mary Ellen Yarbrough
 


Mary Ellen Waters Yarbrough, 85, Paragould, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born November 14, 1924 in Greene County the daughter of the late Jasper Jefferson and Laura Ann Tucker Waters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Russell Cleveland "Cleve" Yarbrough, brothers, Forrest Waters, Thomas William Waters, Lee Owen Waters, Elbert Waters, three sisters, Iva Gibson, Ilene Adams and June Poindexter. She was a homemaker, a pastor's wife, and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters: Debra Rushing of Paragould, Mary Jo Yarbrough of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren: Gary Paul Smith, Jr., Jarred Smith, Laura Smith, Melody Ellen Wilson and Jami Jewell and nine great grandchildren. Special thanks to Glenda Johnson, Butch and Peggy Bishop and Jasper Poindexter.

Her life will be celebrated at Shiloh United Methodist Church Thursday, June 17th, at 2:00 p.m. following visitation from 1:00 until 2:00. Reverend Glenda Johnson and Reverend Larry Hughes will officiate.
Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church or the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House. Pallbearers are Gary Paul Smith, Sr., Gary Paul Smith, Jr., Jared Smith, Laura Smith, Butch Bishop and Chandler Smith

Carolyn Jean French
 


Carolyn Jean French, 65 of Paragould went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born May 18, 1945, in Beech Grove, AR. Carolyn was the daughter of Fred and Lucille Irvin Nolen.
She was a member of the Center Hill Church of Christ and was an outreach person with Brad at Pocahontas. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Fred Nolen; brother, J.D. Nolen and sister, Deborah Lorren.

Survivors include sons, Kim French of Jonesboro and Brad French of Pocahontas; daughters, Wendy French Puryear and Mistie Blanton both of Paragould; mother, Lucille Nolen of Paragould and sister, Patsy Jones of Paragould. Grandchildren, Hunter and Lexie Blanton, Savannah Daggett and Amber Puryear Whitaker; great grandson, Rayce Whitaker.
Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19th, 4:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Jon Binkley officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Center Hill Church of Christ.

Aaron Joe Miller, newborn, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Survivors include his parents, Jeffery and April Miller; brothers, Andrew and Alex; grandparents, Bill and Shirley Crossland of Paragould and Stevey Joe Miller and Mary Lou Rousseau of Light.

A private ceremony was conducted and burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mary Paralee Wheeler
 


Mary Paralee Wheeler, 85, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Wheeler was born May 7, 1925, in Greene County, and was a retired LPN. In 1973 she was the president of the Arkansas LPN Association and through the years held each office in the LPN Association. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church and a member of the Nimble Thimbles Quilting Group.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan R. and Carol Wheeler of Charleston, South Carolina, Jerry W. and Betty Wheeler of Paragould,, A. David and Lana Wheeler of Foley, Alabama; and one daughter and son-in-law, Dianna L. and Allen Faughn of Garland, Texas. She is also survived by one brother, John H. Baine of Texas City, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. D. Wheeler; her parents, John Henry and Mary Paralee Baine; four brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 20th, at East Side Baptist Church, with Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Grandsons, Joshua Wheeler, Britt Long, Justin Faughn, Matthew Faughn, Derek Faughn, and Kevin Long will serve as pallbearers.

Dene G. Grimes, 80 of Paragould passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett. Born February 19, 1930, he was retired from the U.S. Army and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isom Thomas and Mary Naomi Woods Grimes; son, Frank Grimes; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Gisela of the home; daughters, Marsha West of Paragould, Judy Thompson of Bowling Green, KY, Malisa Henry and Sonya Williams of Sevierville, TN and Tonya Haley of Newport, AR; sons, David Grimes of Jonesboro, Bernard and Robert Ruck of Germany and Clayton Grimes of Bonifay, FL; sister, Cozet Cooper of Jonesboro, nineteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Cecil Thomas Cullens, 78, of Paragould passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at his residence. Born November 28, 1931, he was of the Assembly of God belief and was a retired factory worker. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Rosie Baxley Cullens of the home; three sons Roy Cullens of Michigan, Rodney Cullens, and Jack Noodriage of Indiana; four daughters Debbie Ellens of Tennessee, Marjorie Strygewski, Jackie Cole and Michelle Romine, all of Indiana; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother A.T. Cullens of Mississippi; and two sisters Christine Hudson and Dorothy Smither.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lillian Cullens; and a sister Marie Brown.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 22nd, 2:00 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Wynndel King officiating. Burial will follow in Caldwell Chapel Cemetery.

Donald Dillard Brown, 61 of Boydsville passed away at his home June 19, 2010.

He was born October 3, 1948 to the late Cleveland and Gorgeanne(Morgan) Brown at Delaplaine, Arkansas. He married Burla Sue (Burke) Brown January 29, 1988.

In addition to his parents: he was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth Morgan Brown and a great-grandchild.

Donald is survived by his wife: Burla Brown, four sons: Donald Brown of Herrin, Illinois and Kevin Brown of West Frankfort, Illinois, Bobby Brown of Marble Hill, Missouri and Cleveland Brown, two daughters: Angela Petersen of Benton, Illinois and Loretta Dodson of Hobbs, Mexico, twenty-six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers: Jimmy Brown of Marble Hill, Missouri and Ronnie Brown of Dexter, Missouri, two sisters: Joyce Greene and Brenda Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.

Buddy Wallace Brown, 49, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mr. Brown was born July 16, 1960, in Sikeston, Missouri. He was a truck driver for Laubach Freight and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his father, Jerry T. Brown and his wife, June, of Oak Grove Heights; his mother, Becky Wright and her husband Willis, of Lafe; one daughter, Caitlin Brown of Oak Grove Heights; and one son, Curt Caldwell of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Jerry Allen Brown of Lafe; one sister, Deborah Brown Hickson of Gainesville; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22nd, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Lulu Cemetery.

Leon Harold Callahan, 65, of Walnut Corner near Light passed away June 19, 2010 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center. Born July 25, 1944 he was the son of the late Walter and Ruby Callahan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ree Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Callahan; four sons, Allen (Patricia) Dillard, David (Becky) Dillard, Scott Callahan and Jason Callahan; two brothers, Walter and Wayne Callahan; three sisters, Orpal Adams, D. Murphy and Ann Rea; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Elda Mae Gaines Carter

 


Elda Mae (Gaines) Carter, 80, Paragould, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at St Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born August 25, 1929 in Bedford, Indiana the daughter of the late Jesse and Sylvia Fountain Gaines. She was also preceded in death by her granson, Joshua L. Carter, sister, Ethel Wampler, brother, Paul Gaines, nephews, Danny Gaines and Howard Hanley. She was a homemaker and was a faithful member of Light Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband: Bob Carter, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: John G. and Laniece Carter of Paragould; sisters: Edith Miller of Paragould, Ada Jones of Jonesboro, Mabel Davidson of Corning; grandson: Jared Andrew Carter; great grandson: Haden Quincy Carter, both of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 23rd, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel. The celebration of her life will follow at Heath Colonial Chapel, 11:00 AM, Wednesday with Paul McFadden officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Roger L. Nelson

 


Roger L. Nelson, 56, of Bono, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Born June 10, 1954, Roger was a mechanic/truck driver who loved hunting and fishing. He was a special person who loved being with his kids and grandkids and friends. He had said, “the most precious gift is the love of a true friend.” He was a believer and had everything right.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Terri Bounds Nelson, Bono; his mother, Irene Nelson, Pocahontas; daughter and son-in-law, Stephenie & Gary Meeker, Bono; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky & Vickie Nelson, Robby & Terry Nelson, all of Bono, David & Debbie Nelson, Florida; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda & Jr. Lee, Hoxie, Darlene Nelson, Illinois; his grandchildren, Matthew Nelson, Hunter Nelson, Austin Monteniszs, Lizzie Parker, Katie Meeker; mother-in-law, Granny B Bounds; a very special uncle, Earl Nelson; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Nelson; son, Roger “Rod” Nelson, Jr.; brothers, Steve Nelson and Tommy Nelson; and sister, Betty Lynn Nelson.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 22nd, 2:00 p.m. at Lorado Cemetery with Earl Nelson and Byron Griffey presiding. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

There will be no visitation.

Geraldine Delores Ashby



Geraldine Ashby, 91, of Paragould, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born April 2, 1919, in Johnston City, Illinois, she was a homemaker and member of Village Creek Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie Jo Ashby of Anaheim, California; one daughter, Beverly Watts of Paragould; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ruth Shelton; her husband, Maurice Ashby; one great grandchild, Tamara Leigh Judd; two brothers, Lowell and Harold Shelton; and two sisters, Jane Swanson and Nancy Haig.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 24th, 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, June 25th, 11:00 a.m. at Maple Wood Cemetery, Marion, Illinois.

Homer Eugene Carroll
 


Homer Eugene Carroll of Everton, Arkansas went peacefully to be with his Lord June 21, 2010 at the age of 75 after a short battle with lung cancer.

He was a retired farmer, former owner of E & L Auto Salvage and spent his last years growing vegetables to sell at the Farmer's Market in Harrison, Arkansas. He was a hard worker all of his life and never stopped until his illness.

Eugene was born in Marmaduke, Arkansas the 2nd son of Bynum and Nellie Carroll on April 29, 1935 and lived around Paragould most of his life. A Preacher's son, he was affiliated with the Church of God and spent his life serving the Lord. He was a wonderful example of
Christian Faith.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents: Bynum and Nellie Carroll, one infant son, Alan Gene Carroll, two infant daughters, Ginger Priscilla and Kerry Abigail Carroll and one brother Joe Carroll.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 59 years, Eunice Lee(Mathis) Carroll and five loving children who thought of him as the best dad in the world, one son and his wife: Tim and Debbie Carroll of Paragould, four daughters and husbands: Cherry and Mike Dempsey of Paragould, Jennifer Caldwell and companion Otis Farmer of Bull Shoals, Mary and Donnie McBride of Everton, and Davena Michelle and Ray Clover of Grand Haven, Michigan, fourteen grandchildren: Mandi Curtis, Brandi Koschmann, Emili Smith, David Burns, Steven Burns, Jeremiah Burns, Sarah Kashak, Hannah Mitchell, RachelShirley, Michael McBride, Casey McBride, Eric Clover, Ryan Clover and Sarah Clover, fourteen great-grandchildren: Jordan Curtis, Waylon and Weston Curtis, Taylor and Tyler Sims, Martin Koschmann III, Matilyn, Elijah, and Isaiah Smith, Shylah Burns, Zoey Kashak, Rylee and Brynlee Mitchell, and Ben McBride, four brothers: Jesse Carroll of Hardy, Harold Carroll of Marmaduke, Gerald Carroll of Yellville and Rocky Carroll of Paragould, one sister: Pauline Phillips of Paragould along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 24th, 11:00 a.m. at Irby Funeral Home in Rector with Brother Kim Bridges officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 23rd, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery.

Carol Lee Allen, 71, passed away June 22, 2010 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice Center in Jonesboro, AR

Carol was born August 8, 1938 to Harold and Doris Marshall in Lynn, MA. She loved her family, pets, movies and novels. She was formerly employed with Monroe Auto Equipment.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Holloway of Paragould; sons Butch Crouch and his wife Margaret of Vilonia, AR; Chad Allen and his father Charles Allen of Jonesboro; one brother Harold Marshall of Seattle, WA; a sister Marilyn Solimando of Seattle, WA. Carol had six grandchildren: Ashly Floyd; Lacey Crouch; Blake Crouch; Lindsey Crouch; Hallie Moix and Evan Moix. There are four great-grandchildren: Tryniti Smith; Madisyn Milligan, Emma Grace Newsome and Landon Crouch.

She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters: Delores Charbonnau of Lowell, MA and Pat Cavanaugh of Worcester, MA.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, June 24th, 6:00 until 9:00 at Heath Funeral Home.

Javine Faulkner Blackwood

 


Javine Faulkner Blackwood, 95 of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Belle Meade Healthcare. She was born on August 11, 1914 in Greene County AR. Mrs. Blackwood formerly owned the Stylerite Shoppe and taught school in Greene County for 25 years. Mrs. Blackwood was a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church, a Past President of B&PW Club, Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Auxiliary, and member of the SENIOR BEES. She was admired for her spunk, her fire for life and her ability to accessorize. She was stylish, unique, fun and interesting.

Survivors include nieces and nephews: Bill and Glenda Beasley, Barbra and Gary Renfrow, Rex and Karla Blackwood, Jim and Bonnie Myer all of Paragould, Mackie Ann Tiner of North Little Rock, AR., Laura Jean Williams of Bernalillo, N.M., Orb and Peg Crocker of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Kay Don and Ginny Faulkner of FL., Joe E. and Marilyn Faulkner of Nashville, TN., Judy Bentley of West Plains, MO., Lucy Maples of Bowling Green, KY., Nancy and Don Northern of Hermitage, TN., Cloyce Johns of Louisville, KY., Frankie and Harold Gay of Newport, AR.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; Jacob G. and Carrie Spillman Faulkner, her husband of many years; Barris Blackwood, two brothers; Hurt Faulkner and Joe T. Faulkner, four sisters; Judson Johns, Laura Bone, Mozelle Blackwood and Lucile Wood Cupp.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 26th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Marsden officially, burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Mary Bell Grooms

 


Mary Bell Grooms, 80, of Oak Grove Heights, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born May 14, 1930 in Greene County, AR. the daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl Roswell Kappelman. She was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas O. Grooms, brothers, Cleo, O.H. and O'Dell Kappelman, and sister, Lenora Skaggs. Mary was a landowner, retired farmer, worked for the Oak Grove Schools as a bus driver and in the lunch room. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Elmer Grooms of the home; daughters and son-in-law: Clarice Grooms of Nashville, TN, Kimberly and Donald Sinz of Hermitage, TN; sister: Carlena Schuky of Modesto, CA; brothers: O.V. Kappelman of Paragould, O'Neal Kappelman of Oak Grove Heights; grandchildren: Christopher Pierce, Marissa and Noah Sinz, Dusty, Jamie and Jeremy Grooms and six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel Tuesday, June 29th, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Troy Mackey officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Noah Sinz, Christopher Pierce, Dusty Grooms, Jamie Grooms, Jeremy Grooms and Chris Kappelman. Velma Inez Smith

 


Velma Inez Stephens Smith, 79, of the Greene County Nursing Home in Paragould passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010.

She was born February 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Jim Stephens and Belle Beaton Stephens. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald Smith of Marmaduke; two daughters; two brothers; two sisters; three sisters-in-law; and two grandsons.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 27th, 5:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 28th, 10:30 a.m. at Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Trout and George Haygood officiating. Burial will follow at Ramer’s Chapel.

Ambriel Necole Neal, 7, of Paragould went to be with the Lord June 27, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born September 20, 2002 in Paragould to Jessi and Jennivy Neal.

She is survived by her father, Jessi Neal of Brookland; mother Jennivy Neal of Paragould; two brothers, Ashton and Preston Neal of Paragould; paternal grandparents, Dale and Alene Neal of Brookland; maternal grandparents, Wesley and Zelda Adams of Sedgwick and a great-grand father, A. P. Duncan of Sedgwick.

Freddy Ray Pyburn



Freddy Ray Pyburn, 75, of Lake City, was born February 2, 1935, he passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010. He loved tinkering in his shop.

He is survived by his wife Mary Cope Pyburn of the home; three sons, Dewayne Pyburn, Ronnie Pyburn, and Kevin Pyburn, all of Lake City; a sister, Esther Williams of Lake City; two brothers, Bob Pyburn and Tom Pyburn both of the Lester Community; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Bertha Williams Pyburn.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 30th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Pruitt’s Chapel Cemetery in Paragould.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 5:00 until 7:00 at Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Charlotte Rae Faulkner, 63, Beech Grove, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at her residence. She was born May 22, 1947 in Paragould. She was preceded in death by her parents, O. A. Blanton and Mozelle (Harris) Blanton. She was an Admissions Clerk at AMMC for 23 years upon retiring.

She is survived by her husband: Rod Faulkner, of the home; daughter: Kelle Boozer of Paragould; son: Steve Faulkner of Paragould; sister: Jan Long of Paragould; brothers: Ted Blanton of Paragould and Jerry Blanton of Gamaliel, Arkansas and five dear grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:00 until 9:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel Thursday, July 1st, 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Atwood officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

Billy Jack Morrow

 


Billy Jack Morrow, 65, of Light, Arkansas, left this earth, Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his residence.

He was born April 9th, 1945 in San Francisco, California the son of the late Jack Morrow and Ola Bennett Morrow He was also preceded in death by one brother, A.J. Morrow; and one sister, Helen Morrow.

Bill was retired from Emerson Electric Transportation Division after 20 years of service. Bill also attended Oak Hill General Baptist Church and is a child of God.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Morrow of Light; one daughter, Angie Crabtree of Light; one son, Jacky Morrow of Jonesboro; and two grandsons, Cody and Jordan Crabtree of Light. He is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie White of Pocahontas, and Barb Warner of Paragould; one brother, Bob Morrow of Paragould; and by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 2nd, 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Royce Schanda and Marion Stringer officiating. Burial will follow in Gravesville Cemetery near Pocahontas. Visitation will be Friday, beginning at 12:00 noon until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Oak Hill General Baptist Church would be appreciated.

Dennis Ray Pierce

 


Dennis Ray Pierce, 61, of Manila, formerly of St. Louis, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at his home.

Born in Paragould, he was the son of the late Henry L. Pierce and had been a longtime St. Louis area resident before making his home at Manila in 2005.
He was a 1966 graduate of Oak Grove High School near Paragould.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one brother, Sherman Lee Pierce.

He is survived by his daughter, Merideth Pierce of Columbia, Mo.; his mother, Martha Burchard of Manila; and two brothers, Darrell Pierce of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Gerald D. Pierce of Myakka City, Fla. He also leaves two grandsons, Leander Pierce and Damien Pierce.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 2nd, 2:00 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Rudy Burrow officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.
