Joyce Marie Waldrum



Joyce Marie Waldrum, 68, of Paragould died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her husband, Randal E. Waldrum of the home; three sons, Rusty Waldrum, Randy Waldrum and Todd Waldrum, all of Paragould; two brothers, G. W. Wynn and Jerry Donald Wynn, both of Paragould; three sisters, Juanita Grimes of Trumann, Loretta Coy of Flint, Mich., and Sue Gatlin of Paragould; three grandchildren, Megan Marie Waldrum, Ryan Waldrum and Josh Waldrum; and two stepgrandchildren, Zach Hobbs and Cody Hobbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady James and Emma Lou Wynn, and two brothers.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Finch Cemetery, with J.W. Gibbs officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Waldrum, Josh Waldrum, Steve McPherson, Stacey McPherson, Robbie Wynn and Jess Ivey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Gatlin, Todd Carlton, Richard Wynn and David Wynn.

Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m at the funeral home.

Faye Hester



Funeral services for Faye Hester, 87, of Ormond Beach, formerly of Paragould, who died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at her residence, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery at Paragould.

Born in Paragould, she was retired from the parts division of General Motors and a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Hallivee Rhodes of Ormond Beach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lealon D. Hester; her parents, Ezra L. and Theyo Nancy Drennon Shelby; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Crissie Elizabeth Jumper

 

Funeral services for Crissie Elizabeth Jumper, 40, of Paragould, who died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mike Morey and the Rev. David Moseley will officiate, and burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.

Born in Kennett, Mo., she worked as the office manager for Ameristeel Inc. in Paragould and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Jumper of the home; a son, James Jumper of Walnut Ridge; four daughters, Jennifer Beggs, Natalie Beggs and Nikki Beggs, all of Paragould, and Jennifer Manning of Walnut Ridge; her mother, Faustina Adams McNeil of Paragould; two sisters, Jeanne Burnside of Houston and Cathy Lambert of Dexter, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene McNeil.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Larry Wayne Ray



Larry Wayne Ray, 59, of Jonesboro, formerly of Paragould, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center. Born in Paragould, he was the owner and operator of Ray's Auto Salvage in Paragould and was a member of the Lake Street Baptist Church of Paragould.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie Ray of the home; two sons, Steve Ray and Tim Ray, both of Paragould; one daughter, Karen Ford of Paragould; his mother, Juanita Thomason of Paragould; one sister, Phyllis Layman of Paragould; four grandchildren, Rachel Ford and Hannah Ford, both of Paragould, and Brandi Ray and Anthony Ray of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Virgil Ray, and one sister, Betty Ray Stanley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Faulkner and the Rev. Kevin Edgar officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Brittani D'Shea Rudkin



Brittani D'Shea Rudkin, five-month-old daughter of Robert Harold Rudkin and Jaquline Darlene Rodgers of Beech Grove, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Hot Springs.

Survivors, in addition to the parents, include one sister, Breeanna Rogers of Beech Grove; one brother, Christopher Derobaun of Branson, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Joyce Rogers and Tom McLaughlin of Marmaduke; maternal grandparents, Linda and Kenneth Smith of Beech Grove and Frankie and Louise Rogers of Henderson, Ky.; paternal great-grandmother, Aline Adair of Hot Springs; and maternal great-grandparents, George Gibson of Marion, Ky., and Jessie Townlain of Beech Grove.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Marmaduke. Burial will follow in *Memorial Gardens at Paragould.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until service time.

Eva Elizabeth Mitchell

Funeral services for Eva Elizabeth Mitchell, 89, of Kennett, who died Sunday, May 18,  2003 in Kennett, will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector. Futrell Butler will officiate, burial will follow in Purcell Cemetery near Rector.

Pallbearers will be Larry Huckabay, Gary Huckabay, Perry Deshotel, Kenneth McNabb, Darrin Mitchell and Damon Mitchell.

She was born July 23, 1913 in Rector.

Survivors include a son, George Mitchell Jr. of Boyce, La.; five daughters, Frances Wilcoxson of Rector, Annette Huckabay of Lafe, Alberta Deshotel of Wewahitchka, Fla., and Alice Blocker and Mary Wells, both of Kennett; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Mitchell Sr.; her parents, Mose and Ora Catherine Johnson; and two sons, Bobby Mitchell and Otho Mitchell.

Cathryn Tucker



Cathryn Tucker, 85, of Collierville died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Born in Paragould, she was a former owner and instructor at Tucker's Beauty School in Paragould and Jonesboro and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include one son, Bob Tucker of Collierville; one daughter, Paula Majors of Collierville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Tucker; one son; three brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery near Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Doug Davis, Larry Davis, Paul Davis, Robert Nixon, Lee Nixon and Buddy Suiter.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sharon Nelson Ewing


Sharon Nelson Ewing, 50, of Paragould died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

 
Born in Leachville, she worked as a manager of a cleaning business and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Virginia Rousseau of Paragould; one daughter, Danita Nelson of Jonesboro; two brothers, Joby Carl Rousseau of Paragould and Jimmy Rousseau of Osceola; and two granddaughters, Briana Davis and Kaylee Davis both of Jonesboro.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joby West Rousseau; one daughter, Joni Nelson; and one grandson, Tyler Davis.

 
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Michell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould, with Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Gainsville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Grimes, Jeffery Grimes, Charlie Eno and Jeremy Ewing.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Anissa Darlene Mobley


Anissa Darlene Mobley, 34, of Paragould died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, in Jonesboro.
Born in Fort Huachuca, Ariz., she was a special education teacher for the Hoxie School District and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lafe.

 
Survivors include her husband, Richard Mobley of the home; one daughter, Ashley Mobley of the home; her father and stepmother, Arlon and Joy Russom of Paragould; mother and stepfather, Sharon and Leroy Austin of Paragould; paternal grandparents, J.B. and Marvine Friar of Beech Grove; two half sisters, Crystal Russom and Angelic Davis, both of Paragould; and one stepbrother, Luis Silva of Paragould.

 
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lafe, with Curt Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Verdell C. Powell


Verdell C. Powell, 76, of Paragould died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at his residence.

Born in Ash Flat, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for L.A. Darling Store Fixtures Co. after retiring from the in the Navy with 20 years' service.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen Powell of the home; a sister, Lorrell Sefers of Harrisburg; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Powell of San Diego.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Effie Lewis Powell; a son, Terry Powell; and a daughter, Tammy Powell.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel at Paragould, with Tim Wooldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lola Mae Martin



Lola Mae Martin, 77, of Jonesboro died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Regional Medical Center of NEA.

Born in Peach Orchard, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Humphreys of New York City and Danny Lee Martin of Paragould; three daughters, Betty Humphreys of New Albany, Ind., Carol Ivy of Brigham City, Utah, and Deborah Martin of Jonesboro; a sister, Gracie Meridith of Kennett, Mo.; nine grandchildren, including Linda Sue Shipman and Danita Martin-Morley, both of Paragould, Christie Gibson of Sacramento, Calif., Donnie Ivy of California and Daniel Ivy of Idaho; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Daniel "Dan" Martin; her parents, Harry Henry and Leona Brown Morrison; a son, Dennis Humphreys; two brothers; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery at Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Roy Morley, Roger Rue, Ricky Gunn, Jeremy Gunn, Tracey Smith and Harold Martin.

Lena Orena Bass



Graveside services for Lena Orena Bass, 88, of Paragould, who died Monday, May 26, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Lorado Cemetery.

The Rev. David Moore will officiate, and Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include six sons, Danny J. Bass of Broken Arrow, Okla., Donald R. Bass of Bass of Elgin, Ill., Gary D. Bass and Richard A. Bass, both of Paragould, Rondal L. Bass of Marengo, Ill., and Wayne Bass of Walcott; two daughters, Bonnie J. Fielder of Broken Arrow and Sandra Faye Lingle of Mokena, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Bass; a son, Johnny Dale Bass; her parents, Johnny R. and Cora E. Bradley Songer; three brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday at Lorado Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Lorado Cemetery Fund.

Wanda Jean Booth



Wanda Jean Booth, 73, of Marmaduke died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at her residence. Born in Marmaduke, she was a retired machine operator for the Ely and Walker shirt factory and a member of Marmaduke First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Van Booth Sr. of Marmaduke; two sons, Stan Booth of Marmaduke and Van Booth Jr. of Marion; two daughters, Linda Beaton of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carolyn Riggs of Winter Park, Fla.; one sister, Anna Faye Shoaf of Paragould; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robie and Gladys Payne Wilkinson, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Marmaduke First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Michael Beaton, Rusty Riggs, Sammy Riggs, Danny Riggs, Rex Carringer and Adam Booth.

Memorials may be made to Marmaduke First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ad Grayson Rogers



Graveside services for Ad Grayson "Dugan" Rogers, 87, of Paragould, who died Monday, May 26, 2003, at the Paragould Nursing and Rehab Center, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

The Rev. Charles DeVane and the Rev. Gerald James will officiate. Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born at Paragould, he had worked for the Postal Service for 38 years before retiring and was a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church in Paragould. He taught a Sunday school class for 51 years and sang in the church choir.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Rogers of Paragould; a son, Faron Grayson Rogers of DeQueen; a daughter, Audri Waddell of Jonesboro; and five grandchildren, Rachel Rogers, Emily Rogers, Drew Waddell, Sara Waddell and Jake Waddell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. "Buck" and Princie Grayson Rogers, two brothers and one sister.

No visitation has been planned.

Cleveland Noles



Cleveland Noles, 70, of St. Louis, formerly of Walcott, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in St. Louis.

He was a barber and an Army veteran. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include is wife, Estella Noles of the home; one son, Scott Noles of the home; and one sister, Viva Faulkner of Light.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Francis Noles.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould, with Bill Inglehart and Sam Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Billy Joe Garmroth



Billy Joe Garmroth, 73, of Beech Grove died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Greene County, he was a retired manager for Stanford Co-op. He was a member of Stanford Baptist Church and of the Paragould Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Garmroth of the home; three daughters, Linda Gray of Searcy, Debbie Prince of Paragould and Pam Ridge of Selma, N.C.; one brother, Lynn Garmroth of Heber Springs; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Clifton and Dora Hunt Garmroth; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Revs. Marion Gramling and Lynn Garmroth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Paragould.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Prince, Casey Gray, Jim Lenderman, Jim Garmroth, Clifton Garmroth and Steve Garmroth.

Honorary pallbearers will include Bonnie Felty, Donald Fears and Glen Gramling.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home.

June Pickelsimer Duncan



June Pickelsimer "Punkin" Duncan, 64, of Freedom, California, formerly of the Rector area, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at her residence. She worked as a restaurant cook.

Survivors include five sons, Phillip Weldon, Sammy Weldon, Maurice Phelps and Stacy Weldon, all of Oklahoma, and Harold Burdin of Arkansas; two daughters, Gwen Phelps of Oklahoma and Kimberly Phelps of Nebraska; three sisters, Virgie Bozarth of Marmaduke, Nelda Sue Nelson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Carolyn Burdin of Piggott; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Una Wilson Pickelsimer.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke, with Futrell Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will include Reuben Seay, Jim Smith, Jonathan Smith and Darrin Burdin.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Frances Walden



Frances Walden, 90, of Lafe died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Senath Nursing Center in Senath, Mo.

Born in Lafe, she was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lafe.

Survivors include one son, Daniel Walden of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Clyda Mosley of Paragould and Karen Mosley of Lafe; one brother, Elbert Jamison of Paragould; one sister, Shirley Watkins of St. Peters, Mo.; five grandchildren, Mike Mosley of Hazelwood, Mo., Phil Mosley of Mansfield, Texas, Brenda Kirby of O'Fallon, Mo., and Michael Mazur and Brian Mazur, both of St. Louis; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Walden; an infant son; her parents, William and Edith Jamison; two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Curt Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pauline Bomar Dortch



Pauline Bomar Dortch, 86, of Paragould died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Camden, she was retired from Stanley Home Products. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Ted Dortch of Paragould, Terry Dortch of Reno, Nev., and Richard Compton of Louisiana; one brother, Jimmy Bomar of Crocker, Mo.; three sisters, Margie Benson of National City, Calif., Almeria DePottey of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Virginia Hatman of Paragould; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. "Bob" Dortch; her parents, E.B. and Zettie Bomar; four brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Junior Vester officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bessie Gay Watson



Bessie Gay Watson, 79, of Paragould died Saturday, May 31, 2003,  at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Paragould, she was a homemaker and a charter member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ, where she served as custodian and as a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Watson and Rick Watson, both of Paragould, and Mark Watson of Jonesboro; two sisters, Dora Hunter of Paragould and Melba Abney of Leesburg, Ga.; seven grandchildren, David Watson, Jennifer Swymn, Jeremy Watson, Chris Watson, Jace Watson, Jared Watson and Tate Watson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel of Paragould, with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tate Watson, Chris Watson, Jared Watson, Jace Watson, Jeremy Watson and Jeremy Swymn.
