Denver Leon Easton


Denver Leon Easton, 74, of Paragould, a native of Clay County, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at his home.
A retired policeman, he was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Clay County to the late Gilbert and Lucy (Duffel) Easton. He served as Paragould Police Chief from 1975-78 and in more than 10 years with the Paragould Police Department also worked as a patrolman and with the criminal investigation division. He also worked as a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff's Department.

He was a member of the Blue Cross General Baptist Church. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Cupples of Rector.

Survivors include his wife, Erna Easton of Paragould; a son, Michael Gilmore of Jonesboro; a daughter, Vickie Neal of Paragould, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Rev. Jerry Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Pallbearers will be Roger Easton, David Cupples, Jeff Cupples, Perry L. Noel, Gerald Gregory, Zack Gilmore and Ian Gilmore.

Vera Dorris

 

Vera Dorris, 84, of Rector died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, in Rector.

She was born March 9, l917, in Marmaduke, Arkansas to the late Charles and Arpie Reynolds. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Parrish Dorris; one brother, William Reynolds, and two sisters, Gladys Yancey and Eithel Nelson.

Survivors include one son, Gaylon Dorris of Rector; two grandchildren and their spouses, Dena and Amos Green of Malden and Tammy and Dale Johnson of Piggott, and six great-grandchildren, Daniel Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Kalon Johnson, all of Piggott, and Amanda Green, Derek Green and Jade Green, all of Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Jimmy Parrish officiating. Burial, Purcell Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers are Dale Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Amos Green, Carroll Yancey, Daniel Johnson and Loyd Yancey. Honorary pallbearers, Kalon Johnson and Derek Green.

Manuel Wayne Bullinger

 


Manuel Wayne Bullinger, 62, of Rector died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.
A self-employed truck driver, he was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Lafe. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his mother, Opal Bullinger of Rector; three sons, Mike Bullinger of Mindin Mines, Mo., and Tony and Steven Bullinger, both of Modesto, Calif.; one daughter, Sherry Cottrell of Prather, Calif.; two brothers, Gene Bullinger and Lindle Bullinger, both of Rector; two sisters, Glenda Faye Shipley of Pleasant Plains and Nancy Roma Jean Nelson of Holcomb, Mo., and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Rev. Ernie Rinks officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Buddy Nelson, Kevin Nelson, James McCord, Jarred McCord, Curtis Reed and Gary Bullinger. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Nelson and Joe Nelson.

James Lee Ethridge


James Lee Ethridge, 34, a resident of Paragould died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born Sept. 10, 1967 in St. Louis and was a welder.
Survivors are his parents, Beeler and Glenda Ethridge of Bertram; one daughter, Gretchen Ethridge of Paragould; one brother, David Ethridge of Benton; and two sisters, Belenda Sue Shearer of Paragould and Tracy Michelle Anderson of Poplar Bluff.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the City Cemetery with Rev. David Crane officiating.

Roxie Mae Kendall

 
Roxie Mae Kendall, 87, of Paragould died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
She was born March 12, 1914, in Paragould. She was a homemaker and a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burrell Martin Kendall; her parents, Clinton and Dola Mae Highlander Adams; one brother, Johnny Adams; and one sister, Virginia Moore.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Allen and Clara Cone of Paragould; one daughter, Roberta Jean Presson; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Rev. Sam Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 this evening at Heath Funeral Home.

Hershell Leon Coffel



Hershell Leon Coffel, 51, of Paragould Nursing Center died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Paragould. He was born Dec. 9, 1949, in Marmaduke to the late Louis Herschel Coffel and Etta B. (England) Coffel.
He worked at L.A. Darling in the special order department, was a member of the Newton Street Church of Christ and a Navy veteran.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Blagg.

Survivors include one son, Wilbert Coffel of Paragould; two brothers, Frank Edward Coffel and Ralph Coffel, both of Paragould; 10 sisters, Verna Bass of Bakersfield, Calif., Doralene Evans of Paragould, Virginia Clark of Fresno, Calif., Dola Terry of Flint, Mich., Doris Coleman, Deleta Evans, Vernetta Dickinson and Gertie Bandy, all of Paragould, Bonnie Clayton of Marmaduke and Beatrice Reddick of Paragould; one grandchild, Derrick Blagg of Paragould, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with L.R. Smith officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Wilbert Nicley, Danny Nicley, James Dickinson, Jimmy Evans, Harold Coleman, Teddy Reddick and Floyd Bandy.
