Victor Emmanuel Brashers 

Victor Emmanuel Brashers, 72, of Jonesboro, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at his home. He was born in Walnut Ridge and lived in Corning before moving to Jonesboro four years ago.
He was a self-employed brick mason, a member of the Paragould Jaycees, and attended the Northside Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Brad Brashers; his parents, Robert Lee and Elva Lee Mahan Brashers; and by a sister, Daphne Archer.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Brashers of the home; four sons, Victor Brashers, Jr., of Alvin, Texas, Patrick Brashers of Corning, Chuck Wells of Corning, and Nathan Brashers of Camilla, Ga.; two daughters, Carolyn Brickley of Sale City, Ga., and Heather Winberry of Jonesboro; two brothers, Woodrow Brashers of Paragould and Dan Brashers of Ferguson, Mo.; one sister, Constance Thorne of Paragould; and 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Eldon Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be Ted Winberry, Chris Winberry, Charles Jones, Marcus Johnson, Austin Dames, and Ron Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessica Wells, Hannah Brashers, Dedi Trull, CoHon Dames, Matthew Brashers, and Allison Brashers.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Northside Christian Church.


Katherina Anna Burcham 

Katherina Anna Burcham, 77, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Rossbach, Erbach County, Germany. She was an assembler for Emerson Electric Co., and was of the Protestant belief.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W. Burcham and parents, George and Marie Eva Gebhard Reubold.
She is survived by her friends, Sharon and Jerry Howard, Penny, David and Emily Stallings, and Jimmy and Colton Howard, all of Paragould.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Cardwell Cemetery with the Rev. David Stallings officiating. 
Pallbearers will be Jerry Howard, Dan Howe, Jimmy Howard, Selvie Brumble, Marty Lane and David Stallings.


Elsie Morine Floyd
 

Elsie Morine Floyd, 93, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at Lutheran Nursing Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 19, 1910, in Linden, Tenn. She was a homemaker, and a General Baptist/Lutheran.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lige and Minnie Ardella Plunkett; one son, Ronald David Floyd; and husband, William David Floyd.
She is survived by one daughter, Ardella Simms of Cape Girardeau; one daughter-in-law, Mary Cox of Cardwell, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Corene Planette of Williamsville, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Truman Wycoff officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to White Oak General Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Robin Simms, David Upchurch, Donnie Upchurch, Ronnie Floyd, Matt Floyd and Jamie Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Oden, Robin Halstead and April Floyd.
Visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service.


Larry John Cline

Larry John Cline, 46, of Lafe, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at the Med in Memphis Tenn.
He was born Aug. 13, 1957, in Detroit, Mich., was a mechanical technician of Baker Implement and had served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William John and Ola Pearl Mangum Cline.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Cline of Lafe; one son, Patrick Ryan Cline of Walnut Ridge; one daughter, Vicktoria Dawn Cline of Wood River, Ill.; one brother, Roy Cline of Jonesboro; to sisters, Dena Davidson of Jonesboro and Shurlet "Sammie" Stall of Marmaduke; and one grandson, Thomas Wesley Cline of Wood River.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Royce Boling officiating. Burial will be in Scatter Creek in Lafe under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.
Pallbearers are Phillip Best, Phillip Keeling, Jeremy Lang, Thomas Lindsey, Lerry Terry and Steve Riggs.
Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Austin, Darrak Austin and Bill Wood.

Luther Andrew Ryall

Luther Andrew Ryall, 87, of Paragould, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Giddeon, Mo. He was a machine operator for Martin Sprocket and Gear and a member of Peace Tabernacle Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ryall; one son, Larry Ryall; one brother, Elmer Ryall; one sister, Mildred Webb Ryall; and his parents, Daniel W. And May Eubanks Ryall.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Stacey Ryall of Paragould and Talmadge and Pat Ryall of Greenbrier; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Snow officiating.
Burial will be in Monette Cemetery in Monette under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Barry McBroom, Tom Hazlewood, Dave Hill, Scott Crumpton, Randy Pendergrass, John Porter, Jimmy George and Thomas Adams.

John Richard Jones

John Richard Jones, 67, of Delaplaine, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born March 29, 1936, in Bradford. He as retired from General Motors and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Waterford, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Jean Skelton Jones; his parents, Thomas Virgil and Emma Luzelle Malen Jones; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Brett Ralph and Jeanne Jones of Vanderbilt, Mich.; one daughter and son-in-law, Rustie Lynn and Reno Navarre of Mancelona, Mich.; six sisters, Charlotte Ann Jones and Judy Gay Smith, both of Woodland, Calif., Dorothy Howard of Vacaville, Calif., Patty Sue Kellim of East Alton, Ill., Tommie Mayse of Bethalto, Ill., and Fredda McRunels of Marysville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and his fiance, Mary Keith Walker of Delaplaine.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Heath Funeral Home of Paragould. Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery in Clarkston, Mich., at a later date.

Wanda Elaine Austin Highfill Rodgers

Wanda Elaine Austin Highfill Rodgers, 87, of Paragould died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center of natural causes. She was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Greene County. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ralph Highfill; her second husband, Rev. Ira H. Rodgers; her parents, Newton A. and Etta Mae Blackwood Austin; a son, James Edwin "Jim" Highfill; a grandson, Scott Sellers; and a stepson, Roy Rodgers.
Survivors include one son, Tim Rodgers of Paragould; two stepsons, Charles Rodgers of Mt. Home and Jack Rodgers of Fairview, Mich.; one daughter, Phyllis Johnston of Paragould, one grandson, Donald Sellers of Orlando, Fla.; two great-grandsons, James Anthony Brandt of Drasco and Joseph Scott Calcote of Leesville, La.; three granddaughters, Dawn Sellers Calcote of Leesville, La., Jennifer Highfill of Paragould and Valerie Sumpter of Leesburg, Va.; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Heath Colonial Chapel. The Revs. Troy Mackey and Rudell Stroud will officiate. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.

Dale Eugene Keith

Dale Eugene Keith, 64, of Paragould, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Bono.
He retired from Hytrol with 30 years of service and lived in Paragould more than 30 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Modene Stein Keith of the home; one son, Michael Eugene Keith of Paragould; two brothers, Larry Keith of Bono and Scotty Keith of Jonesboro; five sisters, Mary Holder of Jonesboro, Virginia Lee Whited of Riverdale, Calif., Glenda Smith of Jonesboro, Bonnie Foster of Paragould, and Vanessa Caldwell of Bono.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with Minister LeRoy Franks officiating.
Burial will be in the Finch Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be Fred Cunningham, Jerry Beshiers, David Deaton, Bill Newton, Larry Goad and William Whitemire.

Creed Wesley Nelms

Creed Wesley Nelms, 86, of Brookland, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born July 10, 1917, in Brookland and was a Methodist. He lived in Brookland most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Nelms; his parents, John Wesley and Effie May Nelms; one sister and six brothers.
Survivors include four sons, Ben Nelms of Tustin, Calif., Ed Nelms of Jonesboro, Roger Nelms of Memphis, Tenn., and Randy Nelms of Jonesboro; five daughters, Janice Hughes of St. Mary, Mo., Sue Manley and Carin Johnson, both of Brookland, and Phylis Hancock and Joanie Williams, both of Jonesboro; one brother, Dean Nelms of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Lucille Spalding of Tampa, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with Minister Devin Swindle officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Billy Charles Nettles
 

Billy Charles Nettles, 68, of Alicia, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. He was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Boydsville.
He was married to Shirley Clements on Oct. 13, 1956, in Piggott. He was employed by Lawrence County Tractor and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Price and Grace Herring Nettles; one daughter, Shirley Marie Nettles; one granddaughter, Kimberley Nettles; and one great grandson, Aaron Nettles.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Nettles of the home; two sons, Charles and Dale Nettles of Alicia; three brothers, James Nettles of Illinois, Aubry Nettles of Aldrich, Mo., and Gene Nettles of Tulsa, Okla.; four sisters, Mary Johnston and Dorothy Grubbs, both of Springfield, Mo., Janet Lambert of Manila, and Pat Ethridge of Union City, Tenn.; and six grandchildren, Christina, Valerie, Jennifer, Brian, Brandon and Noah Nettles, all of Alicia.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Higginbotham Chapel in Walnut Ridge with the Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Services, Inc., of Walnut Ridge.

Myrtle Froman Hays

Myrtle Froman Hays, 81, of Cardwell, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Senath Nursing Center in Senath, Mo. She was born June 30, 1922, in Corning. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church in Monette.
She was preceded in death by one son, Henry "Sonny" Froman.
Survivors include three daughters, Bea Dirickson of Roxana, Ill., Shirley Thompson of Manila and Brenda Gillean of Paragould; two sons, Robert Froman and Gary Froman, both of Monette; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with the Rev. Joe Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Richwoods Cemetery in Corning under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Forrest H. Hobbs

Forrest H. Hobbs, 87, of Dudley, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Crowley's Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo. He was born Nov. 29, 1916, in Dudley, Mo. and lived most his life there. He was a member of the Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Beatrice Rife; two children, James Francis Hobbs of Paragould and Forrest Jewel Hobbs of Marble Hill, Mo.; one brother, James Aubrey Hobbs of Puxico, Mo.; four sisters, Snoe Pauline Shockley and Melba McCoy, both of Arnold, Mo., Mable McGowen of Dudley, Mo., and Wanda Nash of Dexter, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at White Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk with the Rev. Ellis Ashworth officiating. Burial will be at Shain Memorial Cemetery under the direction of White Sander Funeral Home in Fisk.

Tullin Melton

Tullin Melton, 69, of Marmaduke, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in the Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.
She was born June 6, 1934, in Pollard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Thurman Melton; her parents, Vernie and Verna Morris Parrish; and one brother, Terrel Parrish.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Donette and Dewey White of Marmaduke; one brother, Darrel Parrish of Jonesboro; three sisters, Joyce Pfeifer of Jonesboro, and Brenda Garver and Crela Hatley, both of Success; one grandson, Michael W. White of Paragould; four great-grandchildren, Amber White of Caraway, Mika White of Jonesboro, and McKayla and McKenzie White, both of St. Louis, Mo.; one great-great-grandson, Madison Wiggins of Caraway; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott with Danny Self and Adrian Parker officiating.
Burial will be in the Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal under the direction of Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott.

Infant Hayden Billy Elder of Brookland died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. 
Survivors include his parents, Chad and Paige (Tate) Elder of Brookland; his maternal grandparents, Chuck and Paula Scallions of Jonesboro; his maternal grandfather, Mike Tate of Tennessee; his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Brenda Elder of Brookland; his maternal great-grandparents, E. Naomi Gene Spence

Naomi Gene Spence, 76, of Evansville, Ind., died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, in Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gee Newberry.
Survivors include her mother, Chattie Newberry of Paragould; two sisters, Viva Blackwood and June Ann Bean, both of Paragould; one brother, Lelan Newberry of Paragould; her husband, Warren L. Spence of Evansville; a daughter, Martha Davis of Evansville; two sons, Jerry Spence and James Spence, both of Evansville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould with Scott Neathery officiating.

L. R. "Reedus" Woolard

L. R. "Reedus" Woolard, 82, of Success, died Sept. 10, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Naylor, Mo. He was a farmer and attended the Palatka Church of Christ in Palatka.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dan L. Woolard; a brother, J.J. Woolard; and a sister, Nola N. Small.
Survivors include his wife, Lora Woolard of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Mathis of Corning; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Woolard of Corning; two sisters, Edna Robb of Corning and Kathleen Woolard of Success; six grandchildren, Dal Woolard, Chad Woolard, Matthew Woolard, Nathan Woolard, Chris Mathis and Leslie Mathis Price; and nine great-grandchildren, Eathan Woolard, Kayla Woolard, Katie Woolard, Cole Woolard, Dylan Woolard, Natalie Price, Jacob Price, Kelsey Mathis and Hayden Mathis.

Kelly, Jr., of Mountain Home; two sisters, Betty Campbell of Paragould and Lillian Beam of North Carolina; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Nadgerine Tinsley Horne, 88, of Paragould, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at her home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1914, in Greene County and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Ida Michael Tinsley; two brothers, Ott and Muriel Tinsley; and one sister, Mickie Lou Wince.
Survivors include one sister, Eula Holland of Knobel; five nephews, Jim Holland, Muriel Tinsley, Mike Tinsley, Jack Tinsley and Marion Tinsley, all of Knobel; and two nieces, Paula Bradfield of Independence, Mo., and Janie Blackford of Knobel.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. David Moseley officiating.
Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery in Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.

Ima L. Barnhart Vanderbilt, 88, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at her home.
She had lived in Jonesboro since moving from Marmaduke in 1958.
She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seab and Etta Barnhart and one brother, Delphus "Bud" Barnhart.
Survivors include her husband, Henry H. Vanderbilt of the home; one son, Gary L. Vanderbilt of Jonesboro; one sister, Toy Faulk of Rogers; two grandchildren, Amy Simpson and Steven Vanderbilt, both of Jonesboro; and three great-grandchildren, Lynlie Simpson, Luke Simpson and David Vanderbilt, all of Jonesboro.

Flora Mae Vickers, 68, of Paragould, died Monday, September 15, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Cherry Valley. She was retired from Alvin Samuel's Cotton Gin and was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Vernie Marie Boatwright Bryson; her husband, Glen Vickers, and one brother.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Bryson of Paragould; and two sisters, Mildred Louise Blankenship of North Little Rock and Betty R. Newberry, of Paragould.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Calvin Baldwin and Floyd Ryles officiating.
Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Bob Adams

Bob Adams, 69, of Burton, Mich., died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Hurley Medical Center. He was born in Sept. 20, 1933, in Paragould. He moved to Flint, Mich. to work at Chevrolet Manufacturing from 1966 to 1976 before returning to Paragould. He had lived in Burton for the last 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Flora Adams, and one brother, Tom.
Survivors include six sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma and Jonathan Elliot, Lee and Charles Douglas, Dorothy and John Gumulinski, Vila and Jim Irwin, Linda and Doug Piar, and Barb and Roger Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Deliverance Tabernacle, G-4089 Fenton Rd., Burton, Mich. with the Rev. Ernest Davis officiating.
Visitation will be begin at noon today at the church.


Gale Holifield

Gale Holifield, 76, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Greene County. He was a retired State Farm Insurance agent and real estate agent, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Woodland Hills Church of the Nazarene, where he served as a trustee Sunday School teacher. He was the last surviving charter member of the Exchange Club and a member of the Gideons. He was a State Farm Insurance agent for 36 years, a real estate broker for 40 years and a member of Life Underwriters and the Real Estate Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L. N. and Bessie Holifield; two brothers, Frank Holifield and Notra Holifield; and one sister, Geraldine Nichols.
Survivors include his wife, Madyleen Holifield of Paragould; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Keith and Susan Holifield and Jeff Holifield, all of Paragould; one sister, Fern Pegg of Tupelo, Miss., six grandchildren, Chase Holifield, Drew Holifield, Lucy Holifield, Seth Holifield, and Abby Holifield, all of Paragould, and Frederico Campos of Brazil; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Mack Brown, Sr., and U.S. Cribbs officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Eldon Blount, Richard Blount, Stan Blount Larry Price, Mike Stanage and Winston Yates.

Lavona Wooten Jenkins-Jones

Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke for Lavona Wooten Jenkins-Jones, of Caruthers, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chestley Wooten; a brother, Larry Wooten; and a sister, Madonna Wooten.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Malissa Jones; her mother, Beulah Wooten of Morehead City, N.C.; two brothers, Gary Wooten of Des Moines, Iowa and Bill Wooten of Newport; two sisters, Rhonda and Milissa of North Carolina; one granddaughter, Lillianna, of Caruthers, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.
The service was conducted by Randy Brinkley.


James Floyd Seay

James Floyd Seay, 60, of Paragould, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 18, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. He was a master electrician and a member of IBEW Local 151B.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Seay; and one brother, Donald Seay.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Cole Seay of the home; his mother, Audrey Earline Rowe of Fresno, Calif.; one brother, Richard A. Seay of Utah; and one sister, Barbara Jean Brown of California.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Thurman Holt and eulogist Dennis West officiating. Burial arrangements will be announced at a later date and are under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.


Walker Wilborn

Walker Wilborn, 87, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Ripley, Tenn. He was a farmer and a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Wilborn; his parents, George and Rosa Wilborn; one son, Ronny Wilborn; one brother, Clifford Wilborn; and one sister, Alma Flippin.
Survivors include one son, Ken Wilborn of Turkey, N.C.; two daughters, Marilyn Dempsey of Memphis, Tenn., and Dawna Schatzley of Paragould; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Beatrice Brown, 93, of Paragould, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.
She was born Feb. 25, 1910, in Senath Mo. She was a former employee of Arkansas State College and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Brown; her parents, Arthur and Hettie Hipps; two brothers, Floyd Hipps and Clifford Hipps; and one sister, Flossie Carwile.

Wassie L. Rowland Beasley

Wassie L. Rowland Beasley, 97, of Paragould, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. 
She was born Oct. 6, 1905, in Paragould. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolen J. Beasley; her parents, Frank and Minnie Wood Rowland; and one son, J. F. Beasley.
She is survived by two sons, Oval Beasley of Brookland and Novel Beasley of Flint, Mich.; three daughters, Maevelene Wade of Ft. Smith, and Margie Hastings and Janie Ussery, both of Paragould; one brother, Ones Rowland of Paragould; one sister, Frondell Thurman of Paragould; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Talmadge "509" Davis

Talmadge "509" Davis, 71, of Bay, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was a native of Lawrenceburg, Tenn and had lived in Manila before moving to Jonesboro and later, to Bay. He was formerly an active member of the Lions Club. He was also active with citizen's band radio, an avid reader and operated the concession stand at the Craighead County Court House for 31 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sally Davis and one sister, Ruby Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Newsom Davis of the home; three sons, Randy Davis, Steven Davis and Kendall, all of Paragould; two daughters, Tammy Davis and Kathy Gonzales, both of Jonesboro; one stepdaughter, Michelle Brown of Bay; three adopted grandchildren, Samantha, Davis and Christopher Davis, all of the home; three brothers, James Davis of Winterhaven, Fla., Charles Davis of Texarkana and Larry Davis of Manila; one sister, Jan Brock of Cleveland, Miss.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bill Young, 42, of Corning, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born April 30, 1961 in Walnut Ridge. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Joseph Burl Boyd

Joseph Burl Boyd, 87, of Swartz Creek, Mich., died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at Genesys Health Park. He was born June 22, 1916, in Paragould. He was a member of Faith United General Baptist Church and had been a Deacon at the former West Flint General Baptist Church since 1973. He worked at Fisher Body II for 12 years, retiring in 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters Ethel, Selma, Jessie, Clarice and Evelyn; and one brother, Paul.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two daughters, Kay Jordan of Flint, Mich. and Rita Ignace of Flushing; seven grandchildren, Sherry Putney, Sue Baade and Kim Brohn, all of Flint, Mich., Jennifer Roth of Mt. Morris, Mich., Beth James of Flushing, Mich., Stillman Jordan of Texas and Michael Ignace of Beaulah, Mich.; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law, Ollie Winn, Hildred Gilmore, and Joy and Vernon Holcomb, all of Paragould.

Lena Edwards, 94, of West Hills, Calif., died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in West Hills, Calif. She was born April 11, 1909, in Paragould. She was a retired nursery school teacher with Gay Fay Nursery School in Van Nuys, Calif. and a 25-year resident of the Fickett Towers.
Survivors include one brother, A.D. Dickson of Paragould; five grandchildren, Mike and Mark Williams, Joe Kellett, Mary Kellett Vogele, and Jeanie Kellett; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

James Dale Franklin, 65, of Marmaduke, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born April 15, 1938, in Battle Creek, Mich. and was a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lousetta and James Clifford Franklin; one son, Brian Keith Franklin; and one brother, Ken Weaver.

Bassell William Grady, 71, of Paragould, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Gibson County, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired gas station manager and a Baptist. He resided at Greene Acres Nursing Home for three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Grady and Cloris Barron Klobnak; one brother, Edward Carl Grady; and two sisters, Donna Sue Mathis and Earlene June Tomborski.

Charlie L. Jones

Charlie L. Jones, 76, of Watertown, Wisc., and formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Beverly Terrace Rehabilitation Center in Watertown.
He was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Paragould. He was a retired, self-employed auto body repairman who enjoyed working on cars and flying airplanes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Burney; and his parents, Millard and Charline Maddox Jones.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Gary Pribnow of Ixonia, Wisc., one son, Larry Jones of Bay City, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jerry Curtis Jamison

Jerry Curtis Jamison, 69, of Paragould, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born Oct. 29, 1933, in Lafe. He as a retired railroad engineer for Cotton Belt Railroad and former owner of Jamison Auto Sales. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he attended Seventh and Meuller Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Beldon and Edel Louise Bell Jamison and one brother, Clyde Jamison.
Survivors include his wife, Freda M. Harold Trice Vincent

Harold Trice Vincent, 87, of Rector, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Green Park Nursing Home in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born March 28, 1917, in Rector. He was a decorated World War II veteran who served in New Guinea and the Phillipines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Pack Vincent; and his parents, Samuel Bond and Bertha Vincent.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley Bond and Debra Vincent of St. Louis and Harold Gene and Alice Vincent of Rector; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel of Rector with James H. Dortch officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Shannon Joe Archer

Shannon Joe Archer, 29, of Corning, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at his home. He was employed by Hart's Manufacturing Co. as an assembler. He attended the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Everett Archer; and three sisters, Amy Hyde and Teresa and Lorry Archer.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Tywanna and Rick Hyde of Paragould; his father, Joe Clark of Paragould; his grandmother, Lucille Archer of Knobel; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Wednesday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning. Denny Stormes will officiate.
Burial will be at Hosea Cemetery in Knobel.


Wroby Dale Cox

Wroby Dale Cox, 61, of Harrisburg died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at his home. He was born June 18, 1942, in Bay. He married Bonnie Massey on Aug. 11, 1963. They were married 40 years. He was a former postmaster at Harrisburg and a former mill worker for Meuller Copper Products in Wynne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Wesley and Abra Lou (Hearn) Cox; and one brother, Darrell Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Massey) Cox of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Lindy Cox of Green Forrest; one daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Jeff Weaver of Paragould; and three grandchildren, Ashley and Marcella Cox and Kirby Weaver.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Paul Lyerly, Michael Sloas, Johnny Riley, David Black, Greg Leatherwood and R.A. Page.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Smith, Larry McNamara, Lohnes Tiner, Walt Wilson, Barry Waters, Buster Condra, Rusty Carson, Robert Bland, Eddie Todd, James Williams, Rice Vanausdall and Jim Tom Butler.
Visitation was Monday at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Orr will be officiating.
Burial will follow at the Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Jerry Curtis Jamison

Jerry Curtis Jamison, 69, of Paragould, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born Oct. 29, 1933, in Lafe. He was a retired railroad engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad and a former owner of Jamison Auto Sales. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean conflict. He attended Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adel Louise (Bell) and Andrew Beldon Jamison.
Survivors include his wife, Freda M. Landon Joseph Jones

Landon Joseph Jones, infant, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro. He was born Sept. 27, 2003, in Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Barbara Johnson, and maternal great-grandmother, Sally Dalberg.
Survivors include his parents, Lisa Diane Jones of Paragould and Robert Ray Spencer of Jonesboro; his paternal grandparents, Danny Spencer and Macel Spencer, both of Leachville; his maternal grandparents, Kathy and Carl Jones Jr. of Paragould; his paternal great-grandparents, Tommy and Barbara Spencer of Leachville and Dewayne Johnson of Concord; his maternal great-grandparents, Beuna and Carl Jones Sr. of Paragould, and Robert Ward of Louisville, Ky.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:45 p.m.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Rick Ethridge will officiate.

Gerald Wayne Speer

Gerald Wayne Speer, 62, of Rector, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas. He was born Aug. 3, 1941, in Greenway. He was retired from the military and Civil Service. He had lived his life in Rector. He spent 33 years in the military and Civil Service and was a softball coach for the Red Birds/NAPA. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Estel and Emma Jean (Cox) Speer; and one brother, Doyle Speer.
Survivors include his wife, Trudie Speer of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annece and Steve Bailey of Paragould and Gayle and Terry Lovelace of Rogers; three brothers, Wendell Speer of Healey, Alaska; Wayland Speer of Jonesboro and Harold Speer of Greenway; one sister, Melva Kennard of Paragould; and three grandchildren, Amanda Bailey and Hayden and Jayme Lovelace.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Cupp, George Wilson, John Thompson, Ronald Coleman, Erwin Nelson, John Johnson, Brian Massey, Don Parmenter, Pat Niederborn and Robbie Bearden.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 875th Engineering Battalion, Emergency Personnel of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and Medic One.

Harold Trice Vincent

Ethel Marie Blankenship

Ethel Marie Blankenship, 88, of Paragould, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at her residence. She was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Goreville, Ill. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loicy Blankenship; her parents, James and Sarah Calhoun; one son, Lidell Blankenship; one daughter, Shirley Pruitt; four brothers, Charlie, Herbert, George, and Paul Calhoun; and three sisters, Editha Anderson, Reba Lee, and Mabel Valassis.
Survivors include four sons, Junior and Tommy Blankenship, both of Paragould, Bobby LaDon Blankenship of Corning and Frankie Blankenship of Marmaduke; two daughters, Bonita "Bonnie" Huffman and Betty Prince, both of Paragould; one brother, Carl Calhoun of Carbondale, Ill.; one sister, Mildred Fremersdorf of Winterhaven, Calif.; one half-sister, Ruby Williams of Carbondale; 27 grandchildren; and 70 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Dennis Davis, Junior Vester and Bob Lee officiating. Burial will be at New Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Keith Blankenship, Bobby Blankenship, Allen Blankenship, Jody Blankenship, David Blankenship, Ricky Pruitt, Randy Pruitt, Randy Pruitt, and Anthony Blankenship.

Gaylon Robert Davidson

Gaylon Robert Davidson, 83, of Jackson, La., died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, La. He was a native of Rector, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served 18 months in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Jackson United Methodist Church and of the Masonic Lodge in Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Mary Davidson; two brothers, Wilmer and Aaron Davidson; and one sister, Corene Foster.
Survivors include his wife, W. Crucilla Davidson of Jackson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Maurice Mueschke, Gayla Ann and Glenn Bean, all of Sulphur, and Sandi and Warren Record of Clinton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Edwin and Terri Davidson of Clinton; one sister, Lorene Voltaggio of Brownsville, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery in Clinton.
Visitation was from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 until 10 a.m. Monday at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., in Clinton.
Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Clinton.


Juanita Ragsdell

Juanita Ragsdell, 90, of O'Kean, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at the Randolph County Medical Center in Pocahontas. She was a homemaker and was born in O'Kean, where she lived all her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ragsdell; two sons, Randell and Harelon Ragsdell; one daughter, June Ada Ragsdell; five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Marion Ragsdell of Imboden, and Nathaniel and Ronnie Ragsdell, both of O'Kean; one sister, Sara Ford of Oregon; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at House-Gregg Chapel in Walnut Ridge with Randy Scott officiating. Burial will be at Warren Chapel Cemetery near Walcott under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Ragsdell, Nick Ragsdell, Junior Ragsdell, Stan Ragsdell, Kelly Sheets, and Larry Don Saffell.
Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Dennie Catherine Robinson

Dennie Catherine Robinson, 85, of Paragould, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Elijah, Ga. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Paragould.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Robinson; her parents, Robert H. and Hester Pritchett Newton; and three brothers, Claude, Herman and Jimmy Newton.
Survivors include her best friends, the Rev. and Mrs. Tom Gray of Paragould; and nieces and nephew in Ellijay, Ga.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellijay, Ga. with the Rev. Bill Snow officiating.
Burial will be at the Salem First Baptist Church Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.
Visitation was also held at the Logan Funeral Home in Ellijay, Ga.


Jack Barrow

Jack Barrow, 72, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Stanford. He was the retired owner/operator of North Side Auto Sales, a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mollie Barrow; one son, Rodger Barrow; three sisters, Billie Sue Howdeshell, Omia Drewselia Barrow and Agnes Stroud; and one brother, Oliver Barrow.
Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Barrow of Paragould; one son, Ronnie Barrow of Paragould; four daughters, Pam Palmison of Colleyville, Texas, Karen Moore of Branson, Mo., Ruth Wheelan of Catawissa, Mo., and Rhonda King of Paragould; one brother, Roy Barrow of Paragould; two sisters, Sally Holifield of Rector and Mary Lou Barrow of Bristol, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Grace Vivian Taylor of Paragould; nine grandchildren, Kristie Price, Kari McGhee, Dameon Rowe, Mollie Palmison, Mike Barrow, Mitch Barrow, Laura Sue Short, Chase Crews and Jordan Crews; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. J.B. Harris and the Rev. Eddie Harris officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.
Pallbearers are Michael Barrow, Dameon Rowe, Mike Taylor, Darrell W. Taylor, Mike Watson, Chase Crews and Jade Price.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Bailey, Robert Bolin, Gaines Bolin, Tommy Watson, Elvis Street and Tom Dearin.

William Edward Wade

William Edward Wade, 76, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at his home. He was born April 21, 1927, in Clay County. He lived in Jonesboro for 48 years. He was a shipping clerk and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Paragould. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Lyles Wade; his parents, Walter E. and Ola Mae Berry Wade; and one brother, Donald Wade.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rebecca Wade of Jonesboro; one stepson and step daughter-in-law, Larry and Beverly Lyles of Thayer, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Tanner and Holly Wade.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Bro. Ronnie Winne officiating.
Burial will be at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector under the direction of Irby Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Bernards Hospice.


Burles Raleigh Scobey

Burles Raleigh Scobey, 82, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Hot Springs Village. He was born in Beech Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Viola Scobey; three brothers, Artie, Lavern, and Hoyt Scobey; and one granddaughter, Suzanne White.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry Scobey, of Hot Springs Village; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim White of Hot Springs Village; three sisters, Bernice Plyler and Rebecca Golden of Flint, Mich., and Betty Lou Tabor of Hanover, Mass.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Arkansas Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock.


Joe Wayne Thompson

Joe Wayne Thompson, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at the Methodist University Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Bucoda, Mo. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Senath American Legion Post and a member of the First Baptist Church. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elizabeth McDole Thompson; and one son, Douglas Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie Thompson of Senath; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny Cain and Claudia Thompson of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Keith Bateman of Sikeston, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Pam Thompson of Senath; three sisters, Mavis Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., Betty Maples of St. Louis, Mo., and Doris Fitzgibbons of St. Charles, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ronnie Cain, Christy Bentley, Latasha Hauptman, Joe Don Thompson, and Ryan and Aaron Bateman; one great-grandson, Trenton Thompson; and many relatives and friends. 
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Rev. Doug Clinton and the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Kennett.
Pallbearers are Steve Odle, Mardon Layne, Eddie Adams, Don Wallace, Scottie Jackson and John Wilcox.
Honorary pallbearers are the American Legion Members, Jimmie Don Odle, Kenneth Sikes, R.W. McLain, Joe Bost, and Larry Hemphill.
