He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Eva Bratton; two brothers; and two sisters.

Our father had a personal motto: “A lifetime love of Paragould and Greene County.” He never lost that love, and his brief absence from here was to serve as a gunnery instructor in the Army Air Force during World War II. But of all his lifetime experiences, if asked, he would say he loved law enforcement overall.

Mr. Bratton served faithfully with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Paragould Police Department, where he was the chief of police in the late 1950s. After that, he continued to provide leadership and innovations to law enforcement in Greene County.

He credited his mother, Eva Hester Bratton, and his father, Jeff Bratton, with giving him inspiration to learn as much as possible about everything, to have a love of nature, and to pursue an understanding of the legal system and structure of our country.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 in Mitchell Funeral Home.

There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday in All Saints Episcopal Church with Christine Fair Beebe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to All Saints Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 212, Paragould 72451, would be appreciated.
