Leslie Wayne Foster, Sr.
 


Leslie Wayne Foster, Sr., 69, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.
Born November 2, 1939 in California, Leslie lived in Black Rock and Pocahontas before moving to Paragould nine years ago. He was retired from Civil Service assigned to military bases and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He attended the Pentecostal Church and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Kay Foster, of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law: Leslie, Jr. and Toni Foster of Black Rock, and Matt, Sr. and Niki Foster of Paragould, one brother, Bobby Foster of Oxnard, CA., one sister, Mary Ann Betts of Portia, and three grandchildren: Les Foster, III, Khristian Foster and Matthew Foster, Jr.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 4th, 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge with Brother Harold Russell officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Leslie Foster III, Khristian Foster, Anthony Baker, Darryl Baker, Judd Schugg, and Darrell Aikman.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, September 3rd, 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the American Cancer Society.

Rosa Arzetta Mullins



Rosa Arzetta Mullins, 84, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was born March 2, 1925 in Evening Shade the daughter of the late George and Nellie Stevens. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Orlan D. Hyde and Wade Mullins, sons, Wyman and Kenneth Hyde, grandson, Randy Hyde, brothers, Virgil and Luther Stevens, sisters, Ruthie (Talmage) Brashears, Willadean Stevens, Lucy (Darold) Morrow and Mavis (Travis) Eaton.


Survivors include her children: Glenda Collins, Jean (Dave) Hyde Lawson, Jerald (Linda) Hyde, sisters: Thelma Eunice (Bob) Rogers, Brittany Marie Goetz, brothers: Arthur (Thelma) Stevens, Robert (Marilyn) Stevens, brothers and sisters-in-law: Randal Hyde, Oma Stevens, Jewel Stevens and Grace Fields, Grandchildren: Sherry (Scott) Trayler, Kim (John) Morgan, Keith (Sherri) Collins, Norman (Patti) Bundren, Michael Bundren, Jennifer (Kim) Sword, Amanda Hyde, ten great grandchildren, many nieces nephews, loved ones and friends.

Her life will be celebrated Saturday, September 5th in the Heath Colonial Chapel, 10:00 a.m. with Lonnie Pyle officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Knot Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, 5:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Charles Wayne Callahan



Charles Wayne Callahan, 58 of Paragould passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born January 30, 1951, he retired from Sherwin Williams after 26 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paragould, Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon.

Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Callahan, mother-in-law, Ellen Clemens. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Rita Callahan of the home, daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and Chris Sample of Harrisburg and Ashley and Clint Richardson of Paragould, father, Dow Callahan of Forrest City, AR, brothers, Bill, Tommy, Jimmy and Garry Callahan and sister, Carolyn Miller, grandchildren, Chase and Cole Richardson, Jake, Luke and Ruby Kate Sample.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 5th, at the Heath Colonial Chapel, 1:30 p.m. with Reverends Bill Steeger and Raymond Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Paragould Missions Offering or the Building Fund.

Edward Glenn Sweatt



Edward Glenn Sweatt, 60, of Marmaduke, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
Born July 31, 1949, in Memphis, he was a truck driver for Dr. Pepper and of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Yvonne Sweatt of the home, one son, Cory Young of Marmaduke, one brother, James Werkhoven of Senath, and two grandsons, Jacob Mantz and Zachary Mantz of Marmaduke.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould, is in charge of arrangements.

Rosettie Allison



Rosettie Allison, daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Esty Leoma Bryeans Lamastus, was born February 7, 1918, in Beech Corner, MO., and passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, at the age of 91 years.
On April 25, 1934, in Paragould, she married Norvie Lee Allison, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1992. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Carline Allison, a brother, Harold Lamastus and two sisters, Deliah Williams and Lillian Lamastus.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Owen Allison and wife, Linda, of Ellisville, MO., and Norvie Dewayne Allison and wife, Kathleen, of O'Fallon, MO., four daughters, Deborah Darlene Lanier and husband, Mike, of Rector, AR., Dronda Oteen Payne and husband, Wesley, of Memphis, TN., Charlotte Marylan Thompson and husband, Larry, of New Port Richey, FL., and Amanda Gerdes and husband, Marvin, of Litch Field, IL., one brother, Dallas Lamastus, of St. Ann, MO., 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, September 3rd, 6:00 until 8 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath, MO.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4th, 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Senath with Pastor Chuck Clark officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Serving as pallbearers, Greg Gibson, Wally Brown, Floyd Britton, John Wilcox, Leon Wilcox, Mitchell Smith, Lester Gene Smith and Junior Vaughn.

Tressie Swift



Tressie Swift, 76, of Lafe passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at her home.

Born April 12, 1933, near O’Kean, AR., the daughter of Charles Moses and Iva Cook Gates, she was a homemaker and member of Free Will Baptist Church of Paragould.

She was united in marriage to Elmer Swift on February 11, 1972.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dennis and Carl Gates, and two sisters, Levell Swift and Bernice Fortson.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer Swift of the home, a daughter, Phyllis Hess and husband Benjamin of Manila, six stepchildren, Elbert Swift of Pocahontas, Orvis Swift of Hoxie, Cloyis Daughhetee of Walnut Ridge, Ella Dean Gonzales of Parker, AZ., Emanuel Swift of Delaplaine and Amelia Rogers of Paragould, two sisters, Bernel “Babe” Gates of Cedar Lake, IN., and Nadene Summers Cook of Lafe, two grandchildren, Joyce and Delbert Carter and Charles and Micki Hess, all of Manila, three great-grandchildren, Travis and Brandy Caldwell and Cheyenne Hess, all of Manila, eight stepgrandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who love and miss her.

Services will be Saturday, September 5th, 10:00 a.m. at the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel in Hoxie. Interment will be in Jones Ridge Cemetery, Delaplaine, AR.

Active pallbearers will be Eddie Swift, Kenny Smith, Acea Swift, Charles Hess, Delbert Carter and Jason Summers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ricky, Rick Fortson and John Daughhetee.

Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Nova Jo Nelson



Mrs. Nova Jo Nelson, 68, of Brookland, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Paragould, April 10, 1941, to the late Orville and Margaret Haynie McCord. Mrs. Nelson was a parent educator at North School and worked for Burris School for Children and Mother Goose Daycare. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, loved sewing, traveling with her husband, arts and crafts, gospel groups and most of all, being with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Don Nelson of the home, two sons and their wives, Donny J. and Heidi Nelson of Joshua Tree CA, and Scotty Dale and Donna Nelson of Jonesboro, two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Greg Rhea of Jonesboro and Cynthia and Steven Lancaster of Leachville, thirteen grandchildren, Nick Nelson, Ashton Nelson, Katie Nelson, Paige Turner, D.J. Nelson, Beth Maxwell, Krista Nelson, Heather Holmes, Wesley Lancaster, Samantha Tidwell, Tanner Lancaster, Andrew Valenzuela and Travis Nelson, four great grandchildren, Jazmine Murphy, Tristan Nelson, Aubrey Tidwell and Delylia Turner, a brother and his wife, Harvey and Shirley McCord of Paragould, and five sisters and their husbands, Deanna and Terry Jackson, Francella Holbrook, Sharon Collins and Sara Collins all of Bay, and Pamela and Jerry Drury of Philadelphia MS.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David McCord.

Graveside services and burial will be held Sunday, September 6th beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pine Log Cemetery, with Danny Taylor officiating.

Pallbearers will include Michael McQuay, Max Parsons, David McQuay, Cory Dorman, Nick Nelson, Ashton Nelson and Randy Holbrook.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 5th, 5:00 until 8:00. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Viola Crouch~Hodge

 

Viola Hodge, 96, departed this life on September 3, 2009 at her home in Marmaduke, AR. surrounded by her family. She was born on December 6, 1912, and lived her entire life in the Marmaduke area, residing at her current Marmaduke address for the past sixty-seven years. She was a member of the Marmaduke First United Methodist Church. Viola and her husband, Bus Crouch, owned and operated Crouch’s Grocery in Marmaduke for over thirty years. Viola was very civic-minded, serving as Marmaduke City Treasurer for thirty-five years. She was also active with the Paragould Senior Bees, enjoying many travel excursions and experiences.

Preceding her in death were her parents William Thomas and Laura Wainscott Brooks, seven siblings, her first husband W. L. (Bus) Crouch, her son Sonny Crouch, and her second husband Troy C. Hodge.

Survivors include, daughter Kay Vance, of the home, three grandchildren, Nancy, Kevan, and Tina Vangilder, also of the home, three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Rachel Vangilder, of Marmaduke, and Brooks Vangilder, of the home, several nieces and nephews, including Jane (Joe) Zollner, of Marmaduke, Margaret (Fred) Koch of Alliance, NE., Dr. Fred (Rinda) Clark of Fayetteville, TN., Sharon Stuart of Gaithersburg, MD., Thomas (Linda) Swartz of Independence, MO., and many friends and relatives who will all greatly miss her warm spirit.

Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke. Services will be Sunday, September 6th 2:00 p.m., at the Irby Funeral Home chapel with Reverend’s Kim Bridges and Breck Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at the Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be Kevan and Dylan Vangilder, Mike and Mark Graham, Joe Zollner, and Sonny Baledge.

Billy Freeman Grimes, 76 of Paragould passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Born December 27, 1932, he was retired from L. A. Darling and was a member of Pruett's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, parents Isom T. and Mary Wood Grimes, grandson, Jeff Warner, granddaughter, Amy Danielle Pankey, three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and David Warner and Kathy Pankey all of Paragould, son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Connie grimes of Light, AR, sister, Cozet Cooper of Jonesboro and brother, Dean Grimes of Paragould. seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 6th, 2:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Tim Morgan officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family has requested that memorials be made to Heath Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Betty Jane Jones
 



Betty Jane Jones, 58, of Pollard passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born on December 12, 1950, and resided in Clay County her entire life. She was of the Baptist faith and worked as a Secretary until she became disabled.

Preceding her in death were her parents Roy Lee and Agnus Gerline Holifield Fahr, her husband Tony W. Jones, one brother, Billy Roy Fahr and one sister Mary Fahr McKenney.

Survivors include three sons, James and June Jones of Pollard, John Jones of Paragould and Rick Jones of Trumann, two daughters, Eva and David Denney of Paragould and Amanda and Aderion Burnett of Pollard, two sisters, Lynda and Bill Dalton of OK and Cathy and Abe Davis of MS, thirty two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 9th. 10:00 a.m. until12:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. after the visitation, Brother Ernie Rinks officiated. Interment Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Jennifer Lucinda Stormes, 38 of Paragould passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009at St. Bernard’s Medical Center as a result of an accident. Jennifer was born February 3, 1971. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ belief.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Burl and Rosalee Roberson, maternal grandparents, Wain and Ann Shirley, and an uncle Steven Shirley.
Survivors include her husband, Rick Stormes of the home, daughters, Brittany Earl of West Memphis and Destiny Stormes of Paragould, sons, Zachary and D. J. Shipman of Paragould, step-son, Ricky Stormes of Springfield, MO, step-daughters, Brittany and Tara Stormes of Little Rock, parents, Danny and Linda Roberson of Paragould, sister, Lisa Tritch of Paragould and brother, Danny Roberson II of Paragould.

Lelah Agnes Johnson, 89, of Paragould, passed away September 6, 2009 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Born December 18, 1919 in Marmaduke, she was a homemaker and member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Johnson of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Jenny Brewer, her husband, Robert “Bud” Johnson, and siblings, Jewell Cooper, Ola Moody, Gaither Brewer, and Rachel Pinion.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 9th, 1:30 p.m. at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Reverend Paul Seagraves officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. until 1:15 p. m. at Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.

Donald Jack Loyd



Donald Jack Loyd, 74, son of the late Herman Sanford and Katie Brannum Loyd, was born November 11, 1934, in Cardwell, MO., and passed away September 6, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
He married Becky Thomas on Oct. 17, 1958, in Arbyrd, MO.

Mr. Loyd was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired auto mechanic and attended Cardwell High School.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Loyd of Arbyrd, MO., a son, James Loyd and wife, Gloria, of Aurora, IL., two daughters, Missy Loyd f Bolingbrook, IL., and Melanie Mort and husband, Rodney, of Duncan, S.C., one brother, Joe Wayne Loyd of Irving, TX., two sisters, Betty Crow of Chapin, S.C., and Norma Gray of Louden, TN., 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 9th, 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, with Reverend Leland Dement officiating. Burial will be at the Cardwell Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 9:00.

Pallbearers will be Brian Abbott, Creighton Anderson, Mike Antiss, Ron Branum, Larry Petty, Hugh Walpole and Joel McMillan.

Linda Beth Brumley




Linda Beth Brumley, 69, formerly of Walcott, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009, at Five Rivers Medical Center, Pocahontas. Born July 11, 1940, in Paragould, she was a custodian at Arkansas State University, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Grigsby Lynn Brumley and Heath Wesley Brumley, both of Oak Grove Heights, one daughter, Sophia Belinda Spurlock of Ash Flat, one brother, Jesse Mack Doughty of Paragould, one sister, Jocie Lois Thomason of Ash Flat, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Grigsby Brumley, her parents, Mack and Jocie Doughty, one son, Jeffrey Lynn Brumley, six sisters, Orene Shewmaker, Maudie Shaffer, Jesteen Crockett, Dortha Lenderman, Laura Lucille Doughty, Max Lee Baine and one granddaughter, Summer Spurlock.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 10th, 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with L. R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Croft Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers, Wes Gill, Jeff Gill, Keith Morrow, Mark Morrow, Scott King, and Mark Poe.

James Harry May, 60, of Paragould, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. James was employed by Wal-Mart. He was born July 4, 1949 in Rector the son of the late Ira and Ruby Edith May.
Survivors include sisters: Carol Smith of Knobel, Betty Green, Donna Parker, brothers: Ira Robert May, John Howard May, all of Paragould, Billy Joe May of Jonesboro, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will meet Thursday, September 10th, at Shiloh Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. for a graveside service with Reverend Jason Mears officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Virginia Mae Peters, 86, of Paragould, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. She was born November 11, 1922 to Roy H. and Flossie Mae McCoy Cox in Paragould, Arkansas. She married Religh Roebuck Peters on November 13, 1942. She was retired from Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, James and Suzan Peters.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Peters of Marshfield, MO., and Robert Peters of Collinsville, IL., five grandchildren, Richard Peters, Deania Jenkins, Sherry Salvaggio, Robert Peters, Michael Peters, DVM, five great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Steinbeck of Highland, IL, Geraldine Stearns, Harrison, MI., Patsy and Dewey Norman, O’Fallon, MO., and one brother: James Cox, DeSoto, MO.

Graveside services and burial will follow at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector at 12:30 p.m. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:45.

Jewell Sarah Fannin, 91, of Rector passed away September 6, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital, Paragould.
She was born April 28, 1918 to the late Jimmy and Lavonia (Townsend) Dildine in Holland, MO.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Ivan Fannin, one son: Billy Joe Fannin, one sister: Icey Heath and one brother: Barry Dildine.
Jewell is survived by one daughter: Lola Jean Mac Kelden, four sisters: Mattie Carter, Effie Fincher, Daisy Allen and Kathleen Lewis, four grandchildren: Joey Fannin, Darrell Fannin, Cory Fannin and Karen Sue Knight and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector with Tommy Newman officiating. Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to funeral services.

Lee Gray



Lee Gray, 53 of Paragould passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at St. Bernard's Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Lee was born September 1, 1956, he was a Truck Driver for Air Liquide and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to fish. His favorite hobby was spending time with his granddaughter Cadence.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Velma Shelton Gray, brother, Michael Gray, nephew, Bryon Gray, sister-in-law, Carol Pollock, and father-in-law, Ed Rushing.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Gray of the home, son, Brad Gray of Light, AR, daughter and son-in-law Brandi and Richard Slayton of Light, AR, sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara and Dob Walker of Light, AR, Karen and Jerry Clifford of Paragould, brothers and sisters-in-law Dorian and Linda Gray and Paul and Barb Gray of Paragould and Randy and Connie Gray of Light, AR, mother-in-law, Frances Rusing of Black Rock, AR. granddaughter, Cadence Swindle of Light, AR.

Juanita Lucille Whitney Ganz, 78 passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at St. Luke Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. Juanita was born February 19, 1931, she was a retired nurses aide and a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Ballwin, MO. Mrs. Ganz was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Berl Whitney, 2nd husband Vernon Ganz, Sr., parents, James Carl and Margaret Patton Snyder, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include sons, Thomas Whitney of Valley Park, MO., and Keith Whitney of Cedar Hill, MO, daughters, Margaret Whitney Robison of Ballwin, MO., and Susan Whitney Laster of Arnold, MO., sisters, Eva Mann, Dorothy Price and Kathy Tomlinson all of Paragould, Lois Means and Diane Wilson of St. Louis, MO., brothers, F. A. Snyder of Sullivan, MO., and Michael Snyder of Paragould, eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Saturday, September 12th, 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. No public visitation will be held at the funeral home.

Mary Maxine Light



Mary Maxine Lyles Light, 79, of Hoxie, AR., passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Walnut Ridge, AR.

She was born August 25, 1930, to Walter and Sallie Walker Lyles in Greene County. She had lived in Hoxie for most of her life and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Foy “Flop” and J. L. Lyles, sisters, Iola and Viola Lyles, two half brothers, Earnest and Paul Lyles, and two half sisters, Hazel Rose and Lela Haynes.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Cook of Corning and Jacqie Rorex of Greenwood, IN., son, Walter L. Kersey of Knobel, two sisters, Sallie Huskey and Donnie Nevels, both of Hoxie, brothers, Dean Lyles of Walcott, Bill Lyles of Winnebago, IL., Jim Lyles of Rockford, IL., and Harvey Lyles of Paragould.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12th, 11:00 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with Don House officiating. Burial will follow in Old Military Cemetery at Sedgwick.

Pallbearers will be Casey Rorex, Logan Powell, Joe and Jason Huskey, Dale and Richard Lyles.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Toye Looney

 


Toye Looney, 97, of Paragould, passed away September 9, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

Born April 16, 1912, she was a factory worker at Amrock for 23 years and was a member of the Church of God in Walnut Ridge.

She was married to her first husband, Carson Oldham, and was later married to Carl Looney.

Survivors include a great-nephew, Robert Whitlow and wife Brenda, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 11th, 2:00 p.m. at the Higginbotham Chapel with Reverend Dale Hughart officiating. Burial in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Clyde Vick



Clyde Vick, 82, of Paragould passed away, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at his home. He was born December 13, 1926 in Camden, AR., to Oscar and Ruth Vick. He was a member of Pine Knot Church of Christ, VFW Post 2242, Greene County Riding Club and the Peckerwood Club of Greene County. He was a former Civitan club member, a veteran of World War II and served for many years on the Greene County Quorum Court as a Justice of the Peace.

Mr. Vick is survived by three sons, Roger, Emmett and Charlie Vick, all of Paragould, six daughters, Diana Barnhill, Janet Goebel, Janis Partlow, Doris Hendrix, Mable Crossno and Susie Vick, all of Paragould, two brothers, Roy Vick of Savannah, TN., and Jimmy Vick of MS., 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a good friend, Marlin Pillow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Ellen Treadway Vick and Wilma Vick, two brothers, Alfred and Calvin Vick, two sisters, Geraldine Dennison and Marie McCullar.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 11th, 6:00 until 9:00 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12th, 10:00 a.m. at the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Art Smith and Bill Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Knot Cemetery.

Joe Franklin Hurst, 71 of Paragould passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Joe was born February 22, 1938, he was retired from Darling Store Fixtures and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Naamen and Ettie Gould Hurst, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Linda Ann Hurst of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lennie Hurst of Paragould, daughter and son-in-law, LaVonda and Bruce Benson of Rector. Grandchildren, Farra Risinger and husband Josh, Sarah Hurst, Chelsea, Breanna and Madison Benson, great grandson, Will Risinger.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 13th, 2:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverends Rick Boling, Kevin Edgar and Junior Vester officiating. Burial will follow in Johnston Cemetery at Reyno, AR.

Betty Jean Blankenship



Betty Jean Blankenship, age 78, passed away September 10, 2009 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
She was born January 5, 1931 in Paragould, AR., daughter of the late E. E. and Lora Lee (Hyde) Sims. She had been a personnel supervisor for Woolworths, Grabers and Eubanks-Finney before retiring.

On July 29, 1956 she married Colton Erwin (Junior) Blankenship, who preceded her in death on June 9, 2005.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Krista Underwood of Hot Springs, AR., Rickey and Kathy Blankenship of Matthews, MO. and Terry and Marla Blankenship of Parma, MO., three daughters and one son-in-law, Billie Faye Strope of Paragould, AR., Sissie Wilkerson of Houston, TX., and Wendy and David Wyatt of Sikeston, MO., two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy E. and Joanne Sims and Jerry M. and Laverne Sims all of Paragould, AR., one sister, Mary Alice Ferrell of Paragould, AR., ten grandchildren, Sandi Carroll, Cyndi Holt, Danny Hall, Jennifer Willingham, Michael Wilkerson, Kaci Barden, Lindsey Underwood, Brandon Blankenship, Eric Blankenship, and Kinley Green, thirteen great grandchildren, and her best friend, Joan Peters of Dexter, MO.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Randal Sims, and one sister, Frances Almeria Sims.

Wilma Reola Slatton Creel, 88, of St. Louis, formerly of Walcott, passed away September 10, 2009 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis. Born September 20, 1920 in Walcott, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Linda and Terrence McCauley of St. Louis, and Debra and Jeffrey Bromberg of St. Charles, MO., one sister, Bessie Williams of Bakersfield, CA., three grandchildren, Kevin McCauley, Rebekah and husband Eric Schmidt Bromberg, and Melissa and husband Brian Schmidt, and by two great grandsons, Cooper Schmidt and Wyatt Schmidt.

James H. Park, 87, passed away September 11, 2009, at Greene Acres Nursing Home, Paragould, formerly of Grand Blanc, MI.

James was born February 4, 1922, to the late James Piner and Beulah Jane (Morgan) Park in Marmaduke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willodean Park, two brothers, John Smith Park and Charles Garland Park and four sisters, Elizabeth Phipps, Mildred Moore, Corene Flatt and Eunice Park.

James is survived by three sons and their wives, J. Douglas and Anne Park of Lansing, MI., Dan and Susette Park of Grand Blanc, MI., and R. Lynn and Beverly Park of Dahlonega, GA., one daughter and her husband, Debra and Bob Cleary of Colorado Springs, CO., ten grandchildren, Christina and Scott, Meaghan, Monica and Joe, James Paul, Joshua and Casey, Justin, Rebecca, Ellen and Brian, Robbie and Alison, five great-grandchildren, Mia, Marley, Marina, Landon and Whitman, and one sister, Inez Eakins of Lafe.

James Edward McDaniel, 73, of Lafe, AR., passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center, Jonesboro.
James was born September 22, 1935 in Barfield, AR. the son of the late E.J. and Jennie McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Sammie and one grandson, Sydney McDaniel.
James was retired from General Motors in Pontiac, MI., he was an auto repairman, mechanic, fisherman and a wonderful family man.

Bobby Joe Amick, 63, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Judsonia, Arkansas on February 20, 1946 to Sam and Maud Haus Amick, he was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was formerly employed by World Color for twenty-one years and was self employed for nine years. He was active in Scouts and was of the Catholic belief.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Amick of the home, four sons, Joe Amick of Memphis, TN, John Amick and Jason Amick and wife Amanda are all of Jonesboro, Jody Amick and wife, Amanda from Cherry Valley, one daughter, Jenny Monreal and husband, Tony of Paragould, twelve grandchildren, Noah Payne, Logan Amick, Lance Amick, Nikki Amick, Zoe Amick, Chloe Amick, Zachary Cooper, Abbey Cooper, Katie Cooper, Jeremy Monreal, Jaran Monreal and Jaden Monreal, two brothers, Leon Amick and Jesse Amick, four sisters, Norma Jean Holland, Rosemary Farmer, Patsy Singleton and Dian Potter.

Curtis W. Moffitt Sr., 68, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009. He was born February 24, 1941, in Bono. He married Miss Geneva Bice, April 27, 1962.

Mr. Moffitt was a machinist, and a member of Nettleton Baptist Church at Jonesboro. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting ducks.

Mr. Moffitt was preceded in death by his father, George Moffit, his mother, Mildred (Smith) Clayton, and two brothers, Jim Garner and Donald Clayton.

Nancy Mahan, age 77, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2009.

Born May 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James Austin and Hazel MacGeorge Poole. She was a member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Paragould, and a retired bookkeeper from the State Highway and Transportation Department of Paragould.


She is survived by three sons and daughters- in-law, Freeman and Ponna Mahan of Hamilton, AL., Michael A. and Carol Mahan of Biloxi, MS., Jesse and Janelle Mahan of Ozark, AR., and one daughter and son-in-law Lee M. and William J. Beasley of Harrisburg , AR., nine grandchildren, Paul Mahan, Ryan Mahan, Sarah Corn, Rebeccah Mahan, James Mahan, Hannah Mahan, George Beasley, Jake Beasley, and Paige Beasley.

Lorene Sylvania Hatcher, age 93, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was born December 14, 1915 the daughter of the late C.O. and Rosa Hathcock Webb. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Houston, son, Charles Houston, brother, Fred Webb, sisters, Mildred Webb and Willa Mae Webb McKeel. She was a retired school teacher from Marmaduke Schools and a member of the Center Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband: Leon Hatcher, of the home; daughter-in-law: Gayle Houston; grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Johnny and Teresa Houston; granddaughter: Kym Downs; great grandsons: Drake and Drew Downs, Jacob Houston; great granddaughter: Kathryn Houston, all of Paragould; one niece and one nephew.

Her life will be celebrated at the Heath Colonial Chapel, 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21st, with Jon Binkley and Michael Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Survivors include his mother, Patricia Huggins of Paragould; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. and Elizabeth Sutton of Prescott; and one sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Butch Fletcher of Paragould. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vicki Mealer, 52, of Paragould, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Born May 10, 1957, in St. Louis, Mrs. Mealer was owner of Dust Busters Cleaning Service. She was a member of Reynolds Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gary W. Mealer of the home; three sisters, Christy Williams, Kim Meyer, and Angie Lamb, all of Paragould. She is also survived by one stepson, Clint Dickson; two stepdaughters, Kayla Mealer and Brandi Russom; one nephew, Landon Lamb; and one niece, Lindsey Lamb, all of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayford and Mary Meyer; and by two sons, Chad and Brad Dawson.

Harold Gragg Morgan, 81, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Born March 11, 1928 son of Burrell and Eula Gragg Morgan in Paragould.
He was the owner of Harold Morgan Furniture Center for 38 years, past member of the Lions Club, American Legion and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. He was the past president of the Arkansas Furniture Association and named Furniture Retailer of the Year.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha E. Morgan; his son and daughter-in-law, William and Marsha Morrow Morgan of Paragould; two sisters, Elizabeth Ebersole of Chattanooga, TN., and Nona Mae Todd of Columbia, MO., four grandchildren, Jenny Morgan Post and her husband, Corey Post of Bella Vista, AR., Stephen Gregory Morgan and his wife, Martha Morgan of Russellville, Nathan Christopher Morgan and his wife, Melissa Morgan of Paragould and Chase Reed Morgan and his wife, Lauren Morgan of Jonesboro. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, William Michael Morgan, Rae Lynn Morgan, Emma Morgan, and Reed Morgan; and by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Alfred Wayne Morgan.

Graveside services will be Thursday, September 17th, 2:00 p.m. in Linwood Cemetery with Tom Letchworth officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be John Jones, Dennis Goldsmith, Eric Watson and Rusty McCallister.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Velmeta Walker



Velmeta Walker, 75, of Paragould passed away September 23, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born June 27, 1934 in Pocahontas, AR., to Murrell and Velma Greer. She was of Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Lenora Jean “Jo” McFarland, Joann Thorn, Lena Greer, and one grandchild, Josh Like.

She is survived by two sons, Billy Morgan of Van Buren, MO., and Ralph Sharpe of Paragould; three daughters, Diannia Banegas of Jonesboro, Velma Pyburn and Linda Like both of Paragould, five brothers, Gaylon Greer of TX., Murrell “Sonny” Greer, Russell Dees, Jerry Dees and Frankie Dees all of Paragould, one sister, Dewanda Burney of Paragould, ten grandchildren, Anthony and James Morgan, Shandra and Randy Sharpe, Jeannie Seay, Amy Clark, Cheryl Gomer, Michael and Linnie Like and Jackie Breckenridge.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 25th, 2:00 p.m. at Phillip’s Funeral Home.

Ronny Leo Sailor



Ronny Lee Sailor, 66, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born January 2, 1943 in St. Louis, the son of Lila Caul. He was an Army veteran serving his country in Vietnam, a retired operator of Skyview Mobile Home Park and was a member of the Church of Christ .
Ronny is survived by his wife, Donna Sailor of the home; one son, Ronald Sailor of Paragould; daughters, Raven Redfern of St. Louis and Cynthia Darrough of Washington, MO.; his mother Lila Caul of O'Fallon, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Carol Caul of St. Peters, MO. and Kenneth and Colleen Caul of St. Charles, MO., five grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday, September 28th 10:00 a.m. at New Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the Heath Funeral Home, Paragould.

Frank Boyer Forbes



Frank Boyer Forbes went to be with the Lord September 23, 2009.
Born to Orin Frank and Beulah Boyer Forbes August 24, 1937, he was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He attended Mineral Area Junior College, the University of Missouri in Columbia, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. He did graduate work at the University of Mississippi. He taught elementary school at Frank Clay, MO., and Fox C-6 School in Arnold, MO.

Leaving teaching, he has resided in Paragould since 1976 owning and operating the Ranch House Restaurant until 1994. Thereafter, he held various jobs, lastly as custodian for Greene Acres Nursing Home where he saw many old friends and made many new ones.
He married Janet Edrington August 3, 1963. They have one son, Bradley Alan Forbes of the home. He leaves two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Nancy Forbes of St. Louis, Zeno and Judy Forbes of Desloge, MO., one sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Kevin Purdy of Tuscon, AZ., seven nieces, nephews and their families.

He also leaves one brother-in-law, Jerry Edrington his wife, Linda, two nephews and their families.

He was a great believer in helping those less fortunate and over the years took many into his home. This was a great joy and satisfaction to him.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 26th, 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould with James Ward and Mark Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening, September 25th, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mark Forbes, Jeff Forbes, Jesse Wilson, Jerry Edrington, Chris Edrington and Stacy Edrington.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Rickman, Frank Cooper, Donald Rose, Herbert Mitchell, John Stewart, Jackie Campbell, Andy Alley, Kirk Easley, and Carl Blanchard.

Alberta “Bertie” McDowell Wyatt, 89, of Rector, went to be with her lord September 23, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

Mrs. Wyatt is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Melvin and Linda Wyatt of Jonesboro, and Terry and Glenda Wyatt of Rector, a daughter, Kathy Davis of Decatur, IL., a sister, Mathel Wyatt of Marmaduke, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar D. Wyatt, September 17, 1983, her parents, Archie and Lucinda Gibbs McDowell, a great-grandson; two brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 26th 10:30 a.m. at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector.
Marston Carpenter and Terry Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in Ramer’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bud Silkwood, Mike Wyatt, Ricky McDowell, Kenneth McDowell and Keith Dowdy.

Shirley Painter~Waller



Shirley Painter~Waller, 64, of Excelsior Springs, MO., went to heaven on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO.

Born May 25, 1945 at Newport, Shirley lived most of her life in Jonesboro before moving to Excelsior Springs earlier this year. She was of the Pentecostal belief and strongly believed in the Lord. She had many health problems and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paxston Painter and Nelly Irene Ushury; and by John Slatton Jr., who raised her.

Shirley is survived by daughters, Debbie Coy Stapleton (Mike) of Excelsior Springs and Sheila Coy of Kansas City, KS., two sisters, Doris Slater of Williford and Wanda Shelton (Harold) of Columbus, MO., five grandchildren, Shanna Pulley Wooldridge (Cody), Brandon Jones, Heather Ricketts and Thomas Ricketts II, both of Thayer, MO., and Kate McClure of Excelsior Springs, and four great-grandchildren, Kay¬den Pulley, Austin Wooldridge, Steven Jones and Braydon Jones.

Private services will be held Friday, October 2nd, 3:00 p.m. in Finch Cemetery.

Betty Jo Carr
 


Betty Jo Carr, 71, of Paragould passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born April 2, 1938, Betty retired after 22 years of service from Arkansas Department of Human Services and was a lifelong Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Majorie Key, brothers Wayne and Curtis Key.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Carr, Sr. of the home and step-son, Johnny Carr, Jr. of Paragould, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 28th, 1:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel, Paragould, with Reverend Glen Hoselton officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening 7:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home.

Burl Poe
 


Burl Poe, 88, formerly of Marmaduke, AR., went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2009. Born July 22, 1921 in Craighead County, AR., he was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1943-1946 with the 1st Division in the Pacific. He fought to take many islands including Okinawa and Guadalcanal.

He married the love of his life, Violet Markin in 1946. He moved to Greene County in 1952. Burl was saved and baptized in 1955 and faithfully served as deacon in Mt. Hebron Baptist church and Marmaduke First Baptist church where he was a member. His past includes many first for the town of Marmaduke, which he came to love. Besides being a former mayor, he was also the first Boy Scout Master, one of the founders of the youth baseball program, formed and coached the first men’s softball team, kept the clock at the basketball games for 31 years, and even found time to coach in the Upward Bound program at his church.

He was preceded in death by his mother Altha, his twin brother Earl, and his beloved wife of 58 years Violet. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws Melvin and Darylon Poe of Union City, TN., David and Nancy Poe of Paragould, AR., and Rick and Kim Poe of Bryant, AR., sister, Edna Beardsley of Flint, MI., brother, Leroy Poe of Monette, AR., four grandchildren, Melanie Martin, Brad Poe, Shaniece Gipson, and Mikah Oxner, five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Martin, Blake and Lexi Gipson, Jace Pickens, and one that will arrive next April. Many nieces and nephews and a host beloved friends including his adopted family Tim, Janet, Nathan, and Nick Stone.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29th, 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marmaduke.

Dena Mae Nixon

 


Dena Mae Nixon, 93, of Paragould, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.
Born September 28, 1915, in Lafe, she formerly worked at Ely Walker Shirt Factory, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include seven nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mattie Carter, her husband, Lemuel Nixon; four brothers, Grover, Bob, Clarence and Charlie Carter and one sister, Cloyce Carter.

Visitation will be Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 29th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Wood’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include; Teddy Foster, Jody Foster and Dave Camp. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Eddington, Wes Eddington, Nathan Eddington, David Eddington and Jerry Burton.

Randy McGrew



Randy McGrew, 51, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009, in Arbyrd, MO.
Born June 5, 1958, in Paragould, AR., he was the son of the late Tom and Christine Wilkins McGrew.

Survivors include his mother, Christine McGrew, of Arbyrd, Mo.; two brothers, Jackie McGrew, of Arbyrd and Greg McGrew, of Cardwell, Mo.; two sisters. Reda Williams and husband, Craig, of Woodstock, Ga., and Peggy Dreyer, of St. Louis, Mo., and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gene McCormick.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 29th, 10:00 a.m. at Senath Cemetery with Reverend David Flanrey officiating.

Scott Joe Williams




Scott Joe Williams, 44, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Mr. Williams was a construction worker, loved hunting and playing golf.
He was born August 10, 1965 in Rockford, IL.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dewey Franklin Williams.

Survivors include his wife: Rhonda Williams, of the home, daughters: Tiffany Williams, Stephanie McCoy; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tera Williams, mother, Clara Helen Dearing, all of Paragould, brothers, Franklin Williams, Marty Williams, both of Gainesville, Johnny Williams of Wocanda, IL., sister, Terri Williams of Paragould, grandsons: Xavier Carroll and Kason Williams and several nieces and nephews.

His life will be celebrated Friday, October 2nd, 11:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel, with Reverend David Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, at Lafe.

Pallbearers will be George Spence, Charles Lange, Matt Williams, Todd Williams, Shane Jackson and Joe Hyde with Justin Williams and Terry Parks serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Wesley Stephen Jordan


Wesley Stephen Jordan, 55, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Jordan was a farmer and worked on oil rigs. He enjoyed model cars and spending time with family. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.

On July 31, 1992, he was united in marriage to Sharon (Williams) Jordan. She survives.

Other survivors include mother, Imogene Boren of Paragould, three stepsons, one brother, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 3rd, 11:00 a.m. at Ermert Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Woodridge officiating. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery in Corning.
Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home.

Clyde Almer McFarland



Clyde Almer McFarland, 94 of Paragould passed away Friday September 30, 2009 at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett, MO. Born March 26, 1915 to the late Henry and Susie Alma Bass McFarland, Clyde was a truck driver for a transport service, worked for F. W. Woolworth store in the maintenance department.

He was a member of the Grace United General Baptist Church and attended East Side Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Esther Colston, Juanita Bateman, Mildred Richardson and Irma Dean McFarland, and brother, Howard McFarland.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Bessie McFarland of the home, daughter, Patsy Porter of Paragould, grandchildren, Robyn Goranti of Arnold, MO, Tania Reiker of Dexter, MO, Carla Porter of Arnold, MO and Shannon Porter of Imperial, MO., brother, Hershel McFarland of St. Charles, MO., sister Reba Massey of St. Louis, MO. and11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 3rd, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverends Shannon Porter and Royce Schanda officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
