Gerald Lee McSpadden

Gerald Lee "Jerry" McSpadden of Little Rock, formerly of Paragould, died Wed., May 1, 2002, at Sempercare Hospital in Little Rock. He was 62.

Born Aug. 30, 1939, in St. Louis, he was a retired salesman and member of the Holy Souls Catholic Church of Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy O. and Reba L. Snowden McSpadden.

Survivors include his wife, Judy McSpadden of the home, two daughters, Leah Boles of Murfreesboro, TN., and Jennifer McSpadden of Little Rock, a brother, Roy McSpadden of Paragould and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 4, 2002 at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Harris officiating. Burial followed in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Boles, Chris McSpadden, Jerry Staires, Fred Boone, Darrell Maxwell, James Vance and Bob Lewis.

Heath Funeral Home of Paragould was in charge of funeral arrangements.

 

Clarence Holland

Clarence "Dave" Holland, 76, of Paragould died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.                  

He was born Dec., 15, 1925, in Randolph County. Mr. Holland was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Della Gibson Holland.

Survivors include his wife, Laverna Holland of the home, a son, Johnny Holland of Eudora, three brothers, Everett Holland of Oak Ridge, TN., Howard Holland of St. Louis, MO., and Wiley Holland of Reno, NV., a sister, Fay Templeton of Sikeston, MO, two half-sisters, Paul Amos of Rockford, IL., and Pat Snodgrass of Caldwell, TX., and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were help May 6, 2002, at the Toelken Cemetery in Lafe with the Rev. David Dorman officiating.

 

Dolores Ann Buchanan

Dolores Ann Buchanan, 62, of Harvell, Mo., died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born March 9, 1940, in Gladden, Mo. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pansy and Rollins Willard Stewart; a son, Jerry Dale Dunn; a brother, Roger Stewart; and a sister, Janice Coleman.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Buchanan and Roy Buchanan, both of Harviell, Mo., and Randall Dunn of South Carolina; two daughters, Crystal Stewart of South Carolina and Carla; a special granddaughter, Kristi Ann Buchanan of the home; three brothers, Dennis Stewart of Marmaduke, James Stewart of St. Charles, Mo., and Rollins Willard Stewart of Tallahassee, Fla.; four sisters, Betty Marr of Kansas City, Mo., Connie Dale of Springfield, Mo., Kathryn Judd of Festus, Mo., and Gail Smothers of Springfield, Mo.; and several grandchildren.

The funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Twin Springs Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo., with Junior Vester officiating. Burial was in Qulin Cemetery in Qulin, Mo.

Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould was in charge of funeral arrangements.

 

Romona Geraldine Panhorst

Romona Geraldine Panhorst, 71, of Paragould died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Knobel. She was a homemaker and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Geral and Delores Pugsley Cox.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Panhorst of Paragould; a brother, Calvin Cox of McKenzie, Tenn.; and a sister, Lana Cox of West Memphis, Tenn.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Jon C. Bischof officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, before the service, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Cox, Charles Bridges, Phillip Bridges, Greg Cox, Marty Lilly and Michael Lilly.

The family requests memorials be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 829 W. Kingshighway, Paragould, AR 72450.

 

 

Michael Andrew Woodhouse

Michael Andrew Woodhouse, 38, of Knobel died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born Jan. 7, 1964, in Paragould. He was a salesman at Pannell Ford Company in Paragould and a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church in Paragould.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia Smith Woodhouse of the home; his parents, Joan Moore Dicus and Rex Woodhouse, both of Paragould; two stepsons, Jeremy Brown of Paragould and Blake Dodd of Knobel; two daughters, Erica Woodhouse and Michelle Woodhouse, both of Paragould; one stepdaughter, Christie Watson of Paragould; his maternal grandmother, Mildred Moore of Paragould; and two step-grandchildren, Emily Watson of Paragould and Gage Dodd of Knobel.

The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Rev. Royce Boling officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Active pallbearers will be Andy Ford, Tony Moore, Rich Fegtley, Bryce Moore, Dennis Glen Moore Jr. and Randall Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Foxhill Country Club.

The family requests that all memorials be sent to Civitan International for work with Down's Syndrome and American Cancer Society.

Aubrey "Floppy" Clarida

Aubrey "Floppy" Clarida, 87, of Rector died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Piggott Hospital.

He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Rector. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was parts manager of McNiel Auto and Home Supply for 25 years and Parts Man at Bucy Implements Co. until retirement. He was half-owner of the Whiteway Service Station and spent four years in the Air Force during World War II. After retirement he had a hobby of making knives and for several years attended arts and crafts shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Sina Clarida; his wife, Alymeta Gatewood Clarida; five brothers, Carl, Ralph, Orivlle, John and Fred Clarida; and three sisters, Kate Remley, Zota Kennedy and Gladys Austin.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Ronald Stephen of Jonesboro; three nephews, Horace Pruett of Rector, and Marlin Remley and Bob Remley, both of California; and one niece.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector with C. Ray Miller and James Henry Dortch officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Vangilder, Steve Curtis, Kenneth Foster, Jim Forrest, Jimmy Don Wagster and W.O. Layer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Wagster, Charlie Martin, Carl Easton, James Beaton, Marice Bateman and Dwight Vangilder.

Timmy Lynn Robins

Timmy Lynn Robins, 50, of Monette died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 30, 1951, in Paragould. He was a factory worker with Darling Store Fixtures and a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hadley and Lena Harris Robins; and two brothers, Hadley Robins Jr. and Robert Lee Robins.

Survivors include two sons, Josh Robins of Paragould and Jarred Robins of Rector; a daughter, Fallon Robins of Rector; three brothers, J.D. Robins and Larry Robins, both of Leachville and Tommy Robins of Doniphan, Mo.; and five sisters, Dorothy Reed, Virginia Miller, and Sharon McCord, all of Monette, Peggy Herring of Detroit, Mich., and Nancy Goddard of Conyers, Ga.

The graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Priest, Scott Howard, Harold Thacker, Richard Thacker, Billy Buck and Lonnie Longino.

 

Earl Ford

Earl Ford, 82, of Paragould died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

 

William Wesley Rex

William Wesley Rex, 64, of Paragould died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Sawyerwood, Ohio. Mr. Rex was a retired director of radiology at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Rex of the home, his mother, Marguerite Hershberger of Paragould, a son, William Rex, Jr. of Coronoa Valley, CA., two daughters, Shannon Jones of Portola Hills, CA and Michele Perkins of WA., two step-sons, Rick Borges of PA., and Michael Hossier of VT., a brother, Sherman Rex of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, May 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Roger Armstrong officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc. of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

 

William Edward "Bill" Hillman

 

William Edward "Bill" Hillman, 64, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of the Rector area, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at his residence.

He was born November 1937 in Fordyce. He retired from Arizona Chemical Co. as a chemical engineer after 40 years. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Panama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Joshua and Bobbie Lee Meeks Hillman; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jean Oliver Hillman of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward Oliver and Debbie Hillman of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Renae and Steve Kinelski of Charlotte, N.C., and Lt. Sharon Nicole and 1st Lt. Chuck Holland of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three brothers, Harry J. Hillman of Monore, La., Jerry Hillman of Chidester, and Carlton Hillman of Reno, Nev.; six sisters, Margie Aslin of Ft. Worth, Texas, Janie Brown of Mt. Home, Rubie Hile of Ft. Smith, Louise Pierce of Fordyce, Patsy Cunningham of Maumelle and Barbara Gill of Greenvill, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Isabelle Hillman Reed and Grace Ella Hillman.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with C. Ray Miller officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Irby Funeral Home in Rector.

 

 

Waymon Burnett

Waymon Burnett, 75, of Leachville died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born March 25, 1927, in Ashland, Miss. He was a retired cotton ginner for B.C. Land Co. and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Augusta and Georgia Laura King Burnett; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Della Shepperson Burnett of the home; two daughters, Gloria Curry of Paragould and Ruby Lewis of Jonesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Sharon Burnett of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Lillie Bell Turpin of Benton; a sister-in-law, Joan Burnett of Dyersburg, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Stacy Curry, Christopher Burnett, Hunter Lewis and Lauren Burnett.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville with the Rev. Arthur Phelps officiating. Burial will be at Dogwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Lavada Pauline Clayton

Lavada Pauline Clayton, 77, of Rector Health Care died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Rector Health Care.

She was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Clay County. She was a homemaker and member of Smith's Chapel General Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Opal Goodwin Watson.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, E.J. and Pat Clayton of Rector and Don and Jannie Clayton of Pocahontas; two brothers, J.W. Watson of Paragould and E. Elzie Watson of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Kenneth, Patrick, Donald Jr., Stacy, Tracy, Danny, Gary and Darryl; and 17 great-grandchildren, Eathan, Matthew, Misty, Joshua, Brandon, Kody, Tylar, Elaina, Casey, Magan, Desirae, Anthony, Heather, Chris, Dillyn, Laura and Michelle.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Irby Funeral Home in Rector with J.C. Joyner officiating. Burial will be at Mars Hill Cemetery, north of Rector.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Clayton, Patrick Clayton, Donnie Clayton, Wayne Potter, Freddy Jenkins and Damon Banks.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Jerry Galen Leisure

Jerry Galen Leisure, 60, of Delaplaine died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Paragould. He was a U.S. Army veteran and formerly with the Paragould Police Department. He was a former member of the Greene County Sheriff's Department's Criminal Investigation Division and a former truck driver for Monroe Auto Equipment. He was also of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Leisure; a daughter, Gayla Leisure Hale; a brother, Jackie G. Leisure; and his stepfather, John Heritage

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Leisure of the home; his mother and her husband, Bernice Heritage and Avery Benton of Paragould; his stepmother, Clara Mae Leisure of Ripley, Miss.; two sons, Jerry Don Leisure of Paragould and Paul Leisure of Leachville; two daughters, Janet Grooms and Paige Templeton, both of Paragould; a brother, Johnny Heritage of Paragould; and 10 sisters, Charlotte Gazaway, Dorothy Hancock, Gloria Anderson, Emma Haynes, Deborah Hayes, Angela Cooper, and Jennifer Hammon, all of Paragould and Patsy Beauchamp, Donna Bates, and Angie Leisure, all of Ripley; and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Floyd Ryles officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Pallbearers will be John Purcell, Quenton Spurlock, Dutch Beasley, Ronnie Spillman, Toby White and Rex Moreland.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
