Jan. 9 ,1909 - Prominent farmer dies Ben Harris , residing 9 miles west of here. Mr. Harris had been afflicted with a ruptured blood vessel since birth. He was buried in Warren's Chapel . Mr. Harris was a member of The Odd Fellows and Woodmen of the World.

Jan.9, 1909 - W.H. Wycot, city clerk age 75 death due to old age buried at Linwood Cemetery.

Jan. 10, 1909- Jack Baker killed by falling tree on family farm formerly Cotton Belt section forman at Marmaduke funeral held at Harvey's Chapel conducted by the Odd Fellows.

Jan. 11, 1909, - (Jap) W.J. Melton a good citizen of St. Francis township and constable of the township buried at Woods Chapel. Twenty - four years of age , death due to heart trouble.He was born in Greene Co. Jan. 2 , 1884 and joined the A.O. U. W. lodge of Paragould March 25, 1902.

Jan. 12, 1909- Isaiah Jackson, age 67 years. Died Friday in his home . Near Gainesville , served in Confederate Army. he was the brother of Richard Jackson of Paragould . Death due to stomach trouble . Survived by two daughters , Mrs. Henry Cole and Mrs. Chas. Rose who lives on the Jackson farm. Buried in Gainesville cemetery.

Jan.14,1909- W.F. Miller from Malarial fever 57 years of age . Survived by a sister Mrs. Francis Graves of Greenway, a brother Bill Miller of Franklin County, and two sons Robert and George Miller . Burial at Lafe.

Jan.19, 1909 - Died in Asylum at Little Rock Bruce Montieth well known citizen of Greene County . Died of nervous trouble that unbalanced his mind . Burial at Linwood Cemetery . His wife is the daughter of Uncle Joe Coffman and also the step-father of Calvin Stoudt.

Jan 19, 1909 - Mrs. H. W. Brown remains shipped to Pine Bluff for burial , were she formerly lived.

Jan 20, 1909 - Mrs. Weyer a prominent German lady residing with her family in Mt. Carmel neighborhood died last night of heart trouble. The deceased was 51 yrs. old mother of four , Henry, Frank, Celia and Ida Weyer.

Jan 27, 1909 - A victim of the Great White Plague after illness of 3 months . He moved to Paragould 8 yrs. ago from Indiana , he was 38 yrs.old and was a member of A.O.U.W. Lodge . His burial will be at Portersville , Indiana where his brother's and sister's live.

Jan 28 , 1909 - Clara Edith Bawden beloved wife of A.W. Howard and daughter of Francis Rhorena Howard layed to rest at Linwood.

Jan. 30 , 1909 - Mrs. Will Carmack after long illness . She was 28 yrs. old and employed as a clerk at the Breckenridge , Merc. Co. burial at New Friendship .

Feb. 1 , 1909 - Frank Burton born in Tenn. July 1 , 1868 . He was a prominent citizen and well known farmer of Greene Co. died of pneumonia at the age of 40 . His wife was Alice Cooper daughter of Jim Cooper in 1890. He served as deputy tax collector in 1906 and 1907. He was a member of the Odd Fellows burial at Brown's Chapel Graveyard.

Feb. 6 1909- Infant daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Baxter Beauchamp . Wake at the home of H.N. Boykin burial at Linwood . Mrs McMurtry mother of Mrs. Beauchamp was here from Jonesboro.

Feb. 8 , 1909 - Miss Tina Johnson 19 yrs. committed suicide for unknown reason , step daughter of L.C. Hatcher burial at Linwood.

Feb. 9 1909 - Mrs. J.E. Alvey died of pneumonia . Burial at Catholic Cemetery.

Feb. 20, 1909 - The daughter of Mrs. Minnie Batey of Brighton . Irma Essie Batey age 2 yrs. 20 days laid to rest at Cardwell Cemetery.

Feb. 22,1909 -Double Funeral One of the sadest days at Paragould .Willie McCollough 11 yrs. old died of concussion of the brain.
Willie Mothershed 14 yrs. old died of pneumonia both buried at Fairview .

Feb. 25 , 1909 - Uncle Robert Pruet Pioneer Citizen of Greene Co. brother of Charley and Willis . The three brothers came to Greene Co. from East Tenn. in 1853 . Uncle Robert was married twice ist wife Miss Stuart who he married in Memphis , she died in 1870. His 2nd wife was Miss Fannie Owens who died in 1891. Uncle Robert was born Oct. 1825 and would of been 85 yrs. old. Buried at Pruet's chapel .

March 3, 1909 - Dan Desmond Vet. Railroader one of Paragould's oldest and most respectible citizens 61 yrs. old. His wife was Miss Anna Delarber. He was employed at Iron Mountain Railroad co. Buried at Catholic Cem.

March 5, 1909 - J.A. Brown died of pneumonia buried at Cudd graveyard.

March 8, 1909 - Reverend F. W. Newell well known minister of Greene Co. 88 yrs. old , born in Penn. on Oct. 24, 1820 lived in Greene Co. for 20 years being a minister of the Free Will Baptist Faith . He was the father of Newt Newell of Delaplaine burial at Jones Ridge Cem.

March 11, 1909 - Miss Ruth Wohrman died of consumption 25 yrs. old born and reared in Paragould . Member of the Presbyterian Church . Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Wohrman brothers and sisters starting with the latter, Scott, John , Will , Robert , Mrs. Emma and Mrs. Anna Story all of Paragould . Mrs. Chas. Simmons of Little Rock . Burial at Linwood .

March 13, 1909 - Mrs. Pegg wife of John Pegg of Poland township died at the home of her father John McMillin near Finch . She was 33 yrs. old burial will be at Clark's Chapel.

March 17, 1909 - R.L. Hancock died after a long bout with Bright's Disease . He lived at Piggott , he served two terms as Clay Counties Sheriff . His nephew J.C. Rogers was in charge of the burial. Age 57.

March 20 , 1909 - S.M. Clements died suddenly at his home west of the ridge between Lorado and Walcott . He was one of the first settlers of the county and one of the oldest inhabitants having reached the ripe old age of 74 . He came to Greene Co. from Alabama . Burial at Mt. Zion.

March 23, 1909 - Bertin Griffin Walker infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Walker of East Lake died of smallpox . The child was 8wks. old the burial was at Linwood.

Mar. 26, 1909 - G.M. Orvill of Marmaduke brought news to Paragould of the death of James Bradsher a prominent farmer. He had committed suicide by gun shot.

March 30 , 1909 - R.R. Murphy a prominent farmer dies in the Greensboro neighboorhood in Craighead Co. of pneumonia . Burial at Wiliford cemetery.

March 30 , 1909 - Frank Lewis of Bertig Bros. store returned this morning from St. Louis with news of the death of his mother . Mrs. Esher Lewis she was 84 yrs. old survived by her son and two daughters of St. Louis Ms. Rebekah and Rose Lewis. Burial at Mt. Olive Jewish Cemetery.

Apr. 12, 1909 - "Uncle " John McHaney laid to rest the song service was conducted by the male quartette members consisting of Howard Martin , A.L. Welborn , Tom Fletcher, Prof. B.H. Parrish , Mr. McHaney was a member of the Gainesville Lodge of Masons burial at New Friendship.

Apr. 12, 1909 - "Uncle " Tom Whittlesay he was 58 yrs. old and was born in Moscow , in Fulton Co. Ky. He moved as a young man to Tenn. locating at Weekley and Martin Co. There he met and wooed Miss M. M. Berry . Then they moved to Ar. about five years ago last fall Mrs. Whittlesay died. Surving children Ms. Dona and Will of St. Louis . Remains taken charge by the Odd Fellows burial at Linwood.

Apr. 13, 1909 - Mrs. A.C. Johnson of O'Kean after a breif illness age abt. 50 yrs. old . she left behind a devoted husband and three children. All three children licensed teachers in the Greene Co. schools . Ms.Essie , Fannie and Will J. Johnson all located at O'Kean.

Apr. 16, 1909 - George Rainey son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Rainey died of consumption he was 24 yrs. old . Burial at Linwood .

Apr. 17, 1909 - Will Henson killed by falling tree , 28 yrs. old . Burial at Cardwell.

Sep. 1, 1909 - M.D. Emery son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Coffman of Paragould committed sucide in Oklahoma . Remains where shipped to Paragould over the Cotton Belt . Burial at Friendship cemetery he left a brother behind also at Paragould Jim Emery .

Sep. 3, 1909 - daughter of Ed Moxley , Thelma age 9 yrs. old on Aug. 27, 1909.

Sept. 6, 1909 - John Zuna well known taylor died due of abcess of lung. abt. 60 yrs. old and survived by wife and son , John Zuna Jr.

Sept. 6, 1909 - Mr. Reed well known timber dealer died of dropsy abt. 57 yrs. old.

Sept. 6, 1909 - 8 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Weatherly died and was buried at Linwood.

Sept. 6, 1909 - The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stanfield died at the family home of Gainesville burial at Linwood.
