Funeral services will be conducted at two tomorrow afternoon from the Finch church and burial will be made in the Finch cemetery. Surviving are her husband, John Franklin "Bud" Smith; five daughters; Mrs Price Wax of Route 3, Mrs. Paul Gaines of Alviso, California, Mrs Walter Stokes , Mrs Arthur Potkins, & Mrs. Jay Payne of Route 3; seven sons; Jake Smith of Tyler Texas, Hill Smith of Route 3, John L. Smith of Alviso, CA, Jack Smith of Lake City, Route 3, Earl Smith of Route 3,Cpl. Woodrow Smith of Germany, & App Smith of St. Louis; a brother, Hill Payne of Route 3, a half sister, Mrs Maud Wood of Paragould, a half brother, Harmon Fletcher of Finch; and a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Joseph Samuel Branch January 20, 1882 ~ August 30, 1945 Paragould Soliphone Saturday, September 8, 1945 Funeral Service to be held for Joseph Branch Funeral services of Joseph Branch, aged 63, who died August 30 at Richmond, Calif., following an illness due to pneumonia will be conducted at 2:30 this afternoon from Clark's Chapel church and burial will be made in the Clark's Chapel cemetery. The body arrived here last evening. He was employed as a pipefitter in a Kaised shipyard at Richmond as was a former Greene county farmer. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Add (Bernice Branch) Newberry of Flint and Mrs. Earl (Lois Branch) Jobe of Manila: four sons, Jeff Branch and Alva Branch of Denham Springs, La., Hillery Branch of Saginaw, Mich., and Cpl Grayson Branch who is stationed in Germany; a sister Mrs. Alonzo Elliott of Walcott and three brothers, John Branch of Hot Springs, Dillon Branch of San Francisco, Cal., and J. T. Branch of route three. The son of James Thomas Branch and Martha Jane Gibson, Mr. Branch was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Frances Thomason Branch. contributed by: Judith Jobe Raterman
Monday, December 10, 1945 From The Paragould Daily Press Funeral Services Held for Mrs. Elsie Harris Funeral services of Mrs. Elsie Harris, age 23, of route two, who died Thursday afternoon at the Dickson Memorial Hospital, were conducted at 1:30 yesterday from the First Baptist Church and burial was made in Linwood cemetery. The Rev. I. M. Prince, Pastor, officiated. Pallbearers were Raymond Burrows, L. V. Ryan, Clarence Johnson, Darrel Reeks, Kenneth Morrow and Oeal Black. Flower girls were Mrs. Pauline Powers, Mrs. Evelyn White,Mrs. Ileene Weatherly, Mrs. Athelyn Drennan, Miss Betty Blankenship, Miss Betty Barron, Mrs. Jennie Auston, Mrs. Sue Lacewell, Mrs. Nina Guiltner and Mrs. Delores Young. Surviving are two children, three sisters and two brothers.
