Emma Bibb White

1884 ~ 1972

 

Mrs. Emma White

Mrs. Emma White, 88, died Thursday, April 27 at Community Methodist Hospital.

Born in Greene County, March 10, 1884 to James Fletcher and Martha Angeline Howton Bibb, she was the second of nine children.

Survivors include her husband, Luther White, one son, Wm. Gene White, Paragould, six daughters, Mrs. Ruth Shoopman, Mrs. Selma Highfill, Miss Alvie White and Mrs. Dorothy Smith all of Paragould. Mrs Bernice Holland, Buckner, Mo., and Mrs. Geraldine Bentz, Batesville, one brother, Ervy Bibb, Paragould and one sister, Lona Kinman of Trumann, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs White was preceded in death by two infant children, Stella and Telfair, her parents and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverand J. Albert Gatlin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Lena Barnhart

Mrs. Lena Barnhart, 81, died Tuesday at her Marmaduke home. She was a Greene County native and the widow of Lilburn Barnhart, who died in 1966.

Mrs. Barnhart is survived by four sons, Clifford, Marmaduke; Doff, Fresno, Calif., Carmen, Fowler Calif., and Donald, Casa Grande, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Stokes, Cahokia, Ill; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, Pontias, Mich.; and 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Marmaduke General Baptist Church with Rev George Ward officiating. Burial will be in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at Mitchell Funeral Home after 5 pm Thursday.
