1927 ~ 1989


Lavhon Jones, age 62, of Marmaduke died Thursday, May 11, 1989 at his home.

He had lived all of his life in Marmaduke. He was a mechanic for the Marmaduke Public School System and was a member of Ramer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Odene (Starnes) Jones of the home; one son and his wife Jimmie and Barbara Jones of Marmaduke; one grand-daughter, Amber Jones of Marmaduke; three sisters, Marie Davis of Springfield, Mo., Viola Dwiggins of Pine Bluff and Lavena Fox of Knob Moster, Mo.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 1989, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Gould and Rev. Howard Trout officiating. Interment was in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery with Irby Funeral Home in charge of services.

Pallbearers were Vesta Gene Williams, Donnie Reddick, Gerald McDowell, Gerald Smith, James Corbett and Merle Hampton.

Neal Jordan

Neal Jordan, 70, of Houston, Texas, died Sunday, May 28, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston. He was born December 08, 1918 in Marmaduke, a native of Greene County, he was of the Church of Christ faith, a World War II veteran and a retired barber.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna Kay Ewing of Paragould and Neila Sue Carr of Houston; two brothers, Myron Jordan and Estel Jordan, both of Marmaduke; a half brother, Junior Harold Jordan of San Antonio, Texas; a half sister, Judy Jordan of Marmaduke; a grandson, Todd Ewing of Paragould; and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Jordan Carr of Houston.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home chapel with Hershel Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 6 tonight a Heath Funeral Home.
