Mrs. White

Mrs. Mary Elwanda White, 77, of Paragould, died Sunday at her home. She was a retired nurse and was formerly the personnel manager at a shoe factory. She was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include one son, Stephen Johnson of Jonesboro; two daughters, Brenda Laffoon of Paragould and Janie Perritt of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon White.

Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 1 in the chapel of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould, with Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Richardson

Funeral services for Robert P. "Jack" Richardson, 72, of Paragould, will be this morning at 10:30 in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Dennis Scudder, Sam Stewart and Gene Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Junior Jernigan, Bill Burton, Brian Richardson, Clint Richardson, Kevin Richardson and Rondal Richardson.

Honorary pallbearers will include Bill Clark, Paul Greene, Charles Northen, Wayne Brightwell, John Berry Dickey and Roy Draffen.

Richardson died Wednesday at his home. Born in Marmaduke, he was an Army veteran of World War II and was a retired employee of White Printing Co. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Richardson of Paragould; two sons, Jim Richardson and Jerry Richardson, both of Paragould; one daughter, Regina Hicklin of Paragould; two sisters, Ella Batton of Conway and Audie White of Paragould; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Russom

Jay Waylen Russom, 69, of Paragould, died Wednesday evening at his residence. Born at Beech Grove, he was a farmer and was retired from General Motors where he worked as a job setter. He was a member of Delaplaine Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Chlora Russom of Beech Grove; a son, Gregory Russom of Paragould, and two sisters, Lavona Huckabee of Paragould and Berniece Roberts of Mt. Morris, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 Saturday afternoon at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel in Paragould, with Rev. Charles Abanathy officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Dickey

John Berry Dickey, 75, of Paragould, died Thursday at home. He was born in Water Valley, Miss.

He was an NASD broker/dealer and sole proprietor of John B. Dickey & Co. He served on the Board of Directors of Baptist Memorial Hospital, was a member of the Board of Trustees of Baptist Memorial College of Health Sciences, and a member of the Board of Directors and executive Committee of Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation.

He graduated from what was Arkansas State College in 1949 where he played football, basketball and baseball. He was inducted into the ASU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. He officiated football games for 30 years, and in 1961 officiated the Arkansas High School All-Star football game. He was past president of the Arkansas Officials Association, past president of the Paragould School Board, past president of Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, on the Board of Governors of the National Association of Securities Dealers District 5, and a charter member of the Paragould Country Club. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and past chairman of the deacons.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nan Dickey of the home; two sons, Bob Dickey of Germantown, Tenn., and Bruce Dickey of Paragould; one brother, T.J. Dickey of Winsted, Conn.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Brightwell, Roy Davenport, J.W. Dial, Ray Noel, Larry Price and Tommy Wofford.

Honorary pallbearers will include Men's Faith Bible Sunday school class, Dr. George Allen Haynes, Tom Blossom, Don Perkey, Larry Brewer and "Tite" Williams.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 at East Side Baptist Church, with Dr. Charles DeVane officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 6 until 9 at Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

The family request that lasting memorials be sent to East Side Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Smith

Mrs. Opal Rayanna Mosley Smith, 58, of Corning, died Wednesday at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. She was born in Senath, Mo.

Survivors include three sons, Edward Carter and Richard Carter, both of Buckeye, Ariz., and Danny Mosley of St. Louis; three daughters, Sharon Ping of Paragould, Sheila Hinkledey of Iowa and Debbie Thompson of Oklahoma; three brothers, Dewey Mosley of Oxford, Miss., Louie Mosley of Anchorage, Alaska, and Willie Mosley of Buchanan, Mich.; three sisters, Frances Bowles of Arbyrd, Mo., Nola Colburn of Senath, Mo., and Nancy Dyer of Paragould; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 this afternoon at Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Paragould, with burial to follow under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 this afternoon at the funeral home.

Mrs. Charlsie Schug

Mrs. Charlsie Schug, 82, of Paragould, died Wednesday at the Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. Born in Brookland, she was a homemaker and a member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Sonny Schug of Schugtown; one daughter, Doll Grant of Benton; one brother, Griffin Adams of Jonesboro; one sister, Florence Ella Diel of Memphis; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Schug, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roy Davenport, Bob Rowe, Mike Schug, Ted Schug, Terry Schug and Gary Baldwin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

John Parker Matheny

John Parker Matheny, 97, of Paragould, formerly of Marmaduke, died Tuesday at the Paragould Nursing Center. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Matheny of Kanakakee, Ill., and L.C. Matheny of Alexandria, La.; one daughter, Betty Williams of Beckley, W.Va.; one brother, George Matheny of Paragould; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Leona Thornton Matheny.

Funeral services will be this afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home of Marmaduke, with Hershel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Purcell Cemetery north of Marmaduke

Mrs. Crawford

Mrs. Linda Lou Crawford, 57, of Paragould, died Tuesday at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Paragould. She was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Crawford, her parents, Alvin and Maxine Leisure, two brothers and a sister.

Surviving are one son, Mac Crawford of Paragould; two daughters, Jackie Steele and Kandi Crossno of Paragould; three brothers, Danny Leisure and Sammy Leisure, both of Paragould, and Tommy Leisure of West Memphis; three sisters, Bettye Wallace and Reba Followell, both of Paragould and Maida McMillan of De Witt; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this morning at 10:30 in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. G.L. Ingram will officiate, with burial in the Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Condray infant

Hunter Allen Condray, 19-day old son of Ronnie and Cathy Condray of Beech Grove, died Sunday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

In addition to his parents, survivors include maternal grandparents, George and Barbara Pappas of Victorville, Calif., and Robert Ray of Canton, N.C.; paternal grandparents, Joby Condray of Beech Grove and Wanda Sipes of Paragould, and paternal great-grandmother, Eufa Condray of Lafe.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Beech Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Bricker and Rev. Harold Condray officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery at Lafe, under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Randy Condray, Keith Condray, Gary Condray and Greg Condray.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 2 until services at the church.

Mrs. Back

Mrs. Louise Back, 64, of Paragould, died Sunday at her home. She was born in Paragould, was a homemaker and member of the Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband, John Back of the home; one daughter, Debra West of Paragould; one sister, Barbara Johnson of Butte, Mont.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Funeral Home, with Ed Dye and Herbert Starr officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

William Bailey, 62, Paragould, died Monday at his home.

Funeral services for Vesta Gene Williams, 63, of Paragould, who died Sunday at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould, will be at 10 Wednesday morning at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Kim Bridges and Rev. Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Zora Magdalene Brown, 82, of Paragould, died Sunday at Arkansas Methodist Hospital. Born in Alabama, she was retired and a member of East Side Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Dunavin of Lowell, Ind., and Lois Kucher of Davison, Mich.; one sister, Gretchen Harvey of Paragould; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Carl Hulen Boyd, 75, of Paragould, died Tuesday in the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. Born in Beech Grove, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the Postal Service. He was a member of the Beech Grove Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Boyd of the home; one son, Randy Boyd of Little Rock; one daughter, Carla Ellington of Paragould; one sister, Jo Thoele of St. Louis; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with Wayne Gould officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Ward died Sunday at St. Bernard's Medical Center. A Baptist, he was a Paragould native and an employee of McMillion Industry.

Survivors include his parents, Kenneth D. and Elaine Ward of Paragould; a sister, Kena Brown of Hoxie; his paternal grandmother, Oneida Ward of Rector; and several nephews.

Mrs. Florence Cora Fry, 91, of Paragould, died Monday at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. Born in Belleville, Ill., she was a homemaker and a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Bobbie Joe Fry of Memphis and Danny Fry of Paragould; two daughters, Beverly Brewington of Paragould and Peggy Keefe of Nashville; a brother, Harry Adams of Monette; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Coy Fry, a son, a daughter, a brother, a sister and a grandchild.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Mathis Sr. of the home; three sons, Don Mathis, Bill Mathis and Ben Mathis Jr., all of Paragould; one daughter, May Mooney of Garfield Heights, Ohio; two brothers, James W. Stewart and Russell Stewart, both of St. Louis; a sister, Ruth Barron of Halliday; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould Saturday afternoon at 3, with Alton Holifield and Breck Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Pickering infant

Bennett Reed Pickering, one-month-old son of Barry and Sarah Pickering of Paragould, died Wednesday at Arkansas Methodist Hospital.

He was born at Jonesboro.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his paternal grandparents, Bill and Marcella Pickering of Jonesboro; two brothers, Blade Pickering and Wiley Pickering, both of the home; his maternal grandparents, Earl and Kathlyn Yarbrough of Trumann; and his paternal great-grandmother, Gladis Holloway of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 Sunday afternoon in the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel at Paragould, with Larkin Enlow, Michael Cox and Sam Estes officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucy Morrison, 95, of Peach Orchard, died Thursday at the Lawrence Hall Nursing Home in Walnut Ridge. Born in Blytheville, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ in Peach Orchard.

Survivors include three daughters, Hattie Coffell of Peach Orchard, Jessie Bolton of Palestine, Texas, and Louise Coffell of St. Louis; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Morrison, two daughters and a brother.

Graveside services will be at 2 Sunday afternoon at the Bond Cemetery at Knobel. Burial will be under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.
